“What is wrong with you!” I hiss furiously.
He laughs.
A minute later, he unlocks the door and opens it, waiting for me to go in. “Don’t go breaking any mirrors in there.”
I roll my eyes.
He starts in after me, probably to check for another entrance.
“Spider!” Dragon roars. “Get your ass over here!”
Spider turns towards the parking lot. He grumbles under his breath and shakes his head. “Hurry up. Two minutes.” He lets the door close.
I clench my jaw.
It wouldn’t matter if I was dumb enough to try the same thing twice. Above the one cracked sink, there had been a mirror once, but the glass is gone, leaving behind the cardboard back of it. Someone must have busted it already.
I cross the small, two-stalled bathroom and glance around it. Unlike the other one we stopped at the night Spider took me to the clubhouse the first time, there is a rear door. It’s tucked at the back, but behind the stalls, out of sight of the front entrance.
My heart gives a bound. Fear of my own thoughts washes over me in an icy wave, absurd guilt welling up.
I can’t feel bad for wanting to leave. If he decides I’m lying and ends my life, I’m no good to Sarah. I lean against the door to one of the stalls, valuable time ticking away.
Well, I can’t go anywhere without using the toilet first.
I go into the stall and shut the door.
While I’m finishing up, a creak echoes. It sounds like the back door. The door to the stall next to me whines on its hinges. I flush and step out.
A hand clamps over my mouth.
I scream into a man’s big palm.
Moving in from the side, the man towers over me, a black ski mask covering his face. The cold steel of a gun’s muzzle presses under my chin.
