Chapter 11
Excerpt from Dr. Spriggan’s book “Questionable Answers: What I’ve learned chasing ghosts.”
Q n’ A #23: A question I am always asked by colleagues, fans, or hosts is what would I do if I had proof. Real, scientific, undisputable evidence that the paranormal was as real as the laws of gravity. Would I toast my research team and friends that have helped me through these long years? Certainly. Would I try to patent this evidence and introduce more fields of research? Possibly. Would I stop what I was doing? Absolutely not!
When I selected this field of quasi-science and detective myth-debunking, I made peace with the fact that I might die without ever truly achieving my goals. Even after so many years and trials, I am still enchanted by the mystery of it all. Every Sunday you will find millions flocking to churches and though they have faith, they do not have scientific proof that their religion is correct. They rely on faith and are comforted by it. Would priests stop giving sermons if they discovered that the afterlife was rendered into a scientific formula?
Certainly not!
Sometimes we do get our answers but they aren’t what we expected. Sometime an answer will create more mysteries! That is why I will never stop working on paranormal research despite any proof I might turn up. You must always search for answers, work towards them, and remember: finding answers and understanding them are two entirely different things.
