“Copy that, Lance Corporal!” Gail replied.
“I’ve gotta say, Sergeant… I’m glad you’re not dead!” Lisa said. “You haven’t let being captured ruin your edge at all!”
“Fuck being captured! It sucked!” Gail responded.
“Did they torture you?” Todd asked. Thomas and Lisa instantly shot him looks as if he were an idiot for even asking.
“Yeah, they did. But that wasn’t the worst part!” Gail would have spat if she weren’t wearing a helmet… in space.
“What was?” Todd asked.
“Let’s kill this fucking thing, and I’ll tell you. Focus, people!” Gail shouted.
The seconds ticked by, and the LRF’s made it to their RP. The Release Point was where they deployed their inertial based heavy weapons. The Mwargoths’ energy shields disrupted most human-based guided ordinance, so the FIST team was sent out to manually line up the attack run.
“Ordinance out… Birds peeled off… Splash in three… two…” Lisa reported with the precision of a well-rehearsed actor. Moments later, the gigantic alien ship vanished in a plume of brilliant white light. The first projectile was to disrupt, and stress the enemy shielding, while the follow on package was an eight giga-ton nuclear war head…. Humanity’s new weapon of choice.
The ship was no more. Cheers of elation abound on the keel of the mighty sloop. And the newly christened Hammer FIST celebrated with hugs and high-fives.
“Excellent job, Hammer FIST!” Kara came over the net. “There’s a bucket of beer on ice in the galley waiting for you!”
“Thank you, Ma’am!” Gail replied. “As long as James and Captain Ives haven’t been soiling my sheets with their sexual exploits, then I think some rack-time is going to be my reward!”
“I understand, Sergeant.” Kara replied. “Speaking of that… The Fleet Marshal will be taking a few days of R&R onboard, so I may be a little – unavailable – for the next few days.”
“Understood, Ma’am!” Gail said, and then Kara cut the feed. “Alright, Hammer FIST, look alive! Let’s get to the airlock and secure our gear!”
“Worst part?” Todd asked once more.
“What?” Gail responded.
“Worst part of being captured, I mean.”
“Oh, yeah.” She nodded. “Nobody touched my goodies.”
“What?!” All three team members responded in unison.
“Well, ok… It’s touchy. I don’t condone sexual assault… its evil. But I spent the previous nine months with my libido suppressants applied. When I was captured, they were smashed. Do you know what it’s like to have nine months of horny creep up on you at once, and your fucking hands were chained up?”
“With all due respect, Sergeant… You are one bad bitch!” Todd said flirtatiously. Thomas and Lisa just shared a glance. Lisa shook her head, and Thomas attempted a face-palm. His visor just made the gesture awkward, however.
But Sergeant Gail didn’t change her persona one bit. She kept her hard-ass persona intact with her reply. “PFC Todd, my rack… ten minutes… no pants… if you cry like a bitch, then you’ll be on permanent shitter cleaning detail, got it?!”
For the foreseeable future, PFC Todd would clean the toilets with methodical precision.
