The three of us exchanged quick good-byes, but I saw my blazer on Killian’s hand.
“William!” – I shouted, turning back. “Thank you for that, but you can have it back. Mine is with your brother.” – William nodded and took the blazer.
“Always happy to help.” – he said with a smile and put his helmet on.
With that, I went back to Killian and entwined my fingers with his; the cold air had me refreshed and I had almost forgotten about the two glasses of martini I had earlier during the evening.
“Ready to get home?” – Killian asked, helping me in the car. I rested my head on the seat and felt him cover my upper body with the blazer, the last thing I knew was hearing the roaring of the engine and with that symphony, I fell asleep…
Chapter 10
The day after the event was terrible – I had a massive headache and had to stay in. Killian decided to take a day off work too and we spent the day at his place, rolling around in bed and mostly chilling.
The next day, however, I had no other choice but to meet the furniture delivery and assembly team at R&R. Killian’s pleads for me to stay with him in bed sounded very tempting, but I had to get myself ready, otherwise, I would have been late and facing overcharges for making the team wait with no way to access the building.
“I am not letting you go.” – Killian murmured sleepily. I laughed and tickled his sides so he loosened his embrace. He let out a frustrated groan and looked at me as if he had just realized something. Killian skipped quickly to the living room and returned to bed a moment after. He handed me the keys to one of his cars and buried his face in my hair.
“You will need something to drive around in.”
After taking a shower and getting properly dressed in a blue dress, I put on my heels, kissed Killian goodbye, and drove off to work in his Panamera as my Mini Cooper was in front of my apartment building and we had the habit of sleeping at his place instead.
I parked the white Panamera in my usual spot. Strangely enough, the spot next to mine was already occupied by a black Maybach. Although the vehicle looked familiar, I shooed away the feeling and made my way to the front. The team was supposed to arrive at half-past nine, but I could already hear some voices from inside the building.
Stepping in, I made my way to the floor at my office, only to see it covered in numerous new desk parts, ready to be assembled. With a puzzled face, I stopped one of the assemblers and asked him who let them in.
“A gentleman was here at nine. We also arrived early and he let us in.” – I asked where I could find this person and the man pointed in the direction of my office. I picked up my phone from my bag, ready to dial Killian’s number as everything was looking very fishy. A stranger hanging around the building, letting the team in. No one had told me that anyone else from the staff will be here today, so I could not help but wonder what was going on.
I was dangerously close to the door when I heard a man’s voice – suddenly, I knew why the vehicle looked familiar. I knew who it belonged to. Opening the door with a creek I looked around the room until my eyes stopped on the tall figure of a man.
“Rolling?” – I asked in disbelief. He turned around; a smile lit up his face when he saw me.
“Hello, Evelyn.” – my boss greeted me. “I suppose I forgot to tell you.”
I looked at him expectedly and urged him to continue.
“Tell me what?” – I asked with a furrowed expression. He circled the desk and set down on the chair comfortably.
“I got sick of the awful weather in New York, so I decided to follow your example and move to LA.”
