  “What are you talking about?”

“What the fuck, Zack? I knew it. Damn it, I knew it.”

  “Knew what?”

  “You’re having second thoughts.”

“No.” He shook his head. “Not at all.”

“Why do you have that look on your face?”

  “What look?”

  “Serious.”

Nuzzling her ear, he whispered, “Because I am seriously in love with you, Emily.”

  “You what?”

Holding his weight on one elbow, he looked down at her. The heart-stopping tenderness in his eyes nearly brought tears to hers. “I am deeply, completely, insanely in love with you.”

She lifted her chin, and her lips curved up in the sexy, mischievous smile he adored. “That’s good because I’ve recently discovered that I sort of like you.”

A low, lustful growl rumbled in his chest. “You sort of like me?”

She traced his jaw. “A bunch.”

  “That’s better than sort of.”

His body wedged between her thighs, feeling the heat of his bare flesh against hers drove her insane with desire. No. Not just desire. It was dark, savage lust. A terrible hunger growing, consuming her body and soul fully and completely. Every inch of her flesh and every cell in her body ached for his blood and his body. “Out of all my issues, you are my very favorite.”

He kept his gaze on hers, gently cupping and massaging her breasts and teasing her nipples. “I’m an issue.”

“Needing you is my biggest, most fucked up issue.”

He smiled that slow, sexy smile that always created such magnificent mayhem in her body and mind. She was on fire, burning up with such intense, pressing need. He kissed his way down her belly to her cleft between her legs . He reached under her and gripped her hips and pinned her to his mouth. He licked, he nipped, and he feasted on her.

Unable to stay still, she bucked against his mouth. He devoured her, driving her absolutely fucking insane with the most amazing, mind blowing pleasure. “It’s too much, Zack.”

He didn’t stop. And, while it seemed too much, it wasn’t. She didn’t want him to stop. She wanted more. He licked, he teased, and he probed. No. Not wanted. She needed more. And he gave it to her. She’d never known a more wonderfully wicked delight. She felt dizzy. She felt intoxicated with pleasure, with the building of wonderful sensations.

It wasn’t long before she couldn’t think beyond the scintillating heat his mouth created between her legs. Her orgasm was sudden and violent. Her breath burst from her lungs in gasps. It went on and on. Wave after wave of pleasure.

Giving her no warning, he flipped her over onto her belly, and then gripping her hips he pulled her up onto her hands and knees. He didn’t wait. He buried his cock to the hilt with one savage thrust. He pulled out and he thrust harder, deeper. Again and again, he buried his cock in her slick heat, her tight fiery sheath. His pace was as ferocious as his need for her. She was so fucking hot and tight, wrapped around him, obliterating his control. He felt his body quickly losing all control, his erection swelling, growing impossibly hard.

He couldn’t surrender to the pleasure before her, but the more he fought the more he was desperate to succumb to it. Just in the nick of time, he heard her cry of ecstasy and her body clamp down around his. Her inner muscles tightened and released in powerful spasms around his cock, pushing him far past the point of control. He threw his head back and roared, his body shuddering, every muscle tightening to the point of pain that turned to intolerable pleasure, as his orgasm ferociously ripped through his entire body.

She collapsed on the bed, his body blanketing hers. For a few moments, they didn’t move. Neither one possessed the strength to move. After several minutes, he rolled off her and pulled her into his arms. “That was fucking amazing.”

“I agree. Why the hell did we wait for so long?” She sat up and stretched. “I think I pulled a few muscles.”

At once, he sat up next to her. “Are you hurting?”

  “In a good way.”

  “I should’ve been more careful.”

“Shut up before I kick your ass.”

He scooped her up and shifted to the basement with her.

  “What are you doing?”

“Throwing your ass in the hot tub.”

  “You have a hot tub.”

“We have a hot tub,” he corrected.

He lowered her in the water. “Soak for a bit and think about what you want to do today. I need to take care of a few things.”

“I want to try to see Demetri.”

  “Try?”

  “I can’t find him.”

  “What about the club?”

  “I couldn’t get inside.”

  “Why?”

“Normally, he comes out to see me when I show up. But I can’t reach him at all.”

“I’ll take you to the club to see him after you’ve soaked for a little bit.” He started to walk way.

“No. Forget it. I can’t let you put your life in danger.” The laughter in her voice let him know she was teasing him.

Turning around at the door, he laughed. “What are you talking about?”

“Some really mean and scary vampires hang out at the club. They like to pick fights with me.”

“You should’ve told me about your trouble with these really mean and scary vampires before.”

  “I was protecting you.”

  “From what?”

  “Getting your ass kicked.”

“You’re the only one I’ll ever allow to kick my ass.”

H and in hand, Zack and Emily approached Wicked Sensations. She released his hand and started to take a step away from him, but he caught her hand to stop her. “Wait a minute.”

“For what? An invitation?” She looked at him and laughed. “I hate to hurt your feelings, but we won’t get one.”

Reaching behind her, he gently but firmly pulled her hair, arching her neck, exposing her throat. “And that is why we aren’t planning to walk into the building blind.”

Staring up at him, she nodded. “You’re scanning?”

  “Something you should always do.”

Frowning, she shrugged. “I do it sometimes.”

  “Demetri isn’t inside the building.”

“We need to go inside. We need to find out what’s going on.” She took a step back and looked up at him. “They could have him.”

“I told you I would help you contact him.”

  “Thank you, Zack.”

“Go through the front door, and I’ll go through the back.”

She tilted her head to the side, waiting for him to explain but he didn’t. “Why?”

“If I go through the front door with you none of your anti fans will give you trouble.”

“You want me to start a fight?” she asked.

“Only if you feel up to the challenge.”

“I think I can handle it. But why?”

“It’s the surest way to get Demetri to show up.”

“Mary expects him to keep order.”

  “That’s right.”

Since Emily figured Zack would likely kill whoever she chose to pick a fight with, she walked up to the table where Carter, a vampire she had a big grudge against, sat alone. “What are you drinking, Carter?” She sat on the table, picked up his shot of whiskey and tipped it to her mouth. “Not bad.” She placed the glass on the table and picked up the bottle of whisky. “But it’s also not that good.”

He looked up at her and lifted his lip, baring his jagged teeth and razor-sharp fangs. “You’re not supposed to be here.”

  She shrugged. “So?”

“You need to get the fuck out of here.”

“Oh, my goodness.” Placing her hand over her heart, she feigned a startled gasp. “I just noticed that you have really big teeth. Nasty. Filthy. Quite stinky.” Nodding once, she smiled. “But they’re really fucking big and really fucking sharp.” She tipped the
bottle back and swallowed.

“Get your fucking ass away from me before I kill you.”

“In here?” She shook her head. “I don’t think you would dare try to kill me right now.”

  “Demetri isn’t here.”

“Are you sure?” She leaned toward him. “Because if you plan to kill me you’d better make damn sure he isn’t here.”

He glanced around and scanned the club for a few seconds before returning his gaze to hers. “He’s not here.”

  “That’s good news.”

  “Why?”

“He doesn’t like you. He would object to my desire to spend a little quality with you.” She paused. “To be honest, I’ve missed you. Terribly. Desperately. I know it’s hard to believe. We haven’t always gotten along. But I swear it’s true. I’ve felt absolutely fucking terrible ever since I kicked your ass a few days ago.”

He jumped and lunged for her. “Fuck you.”

Dodging him, she dropped the bottle. “Look at what you made me do.”

“I’m going to wipe it up with your fucking face.”

Zack came up from behind the vampire and gripped the back of his neck. “That’s no way to talk to a lady.”

  Emily frowned. “A lady?”

He turned his head, meeting her gaze, his attention focused solely on her. “My lady.”

  She lifted her brow.

  “My sex goddess.”

“That’s better. I told you they don’t like me.”

Zack turned the vampire to face him. “What isn’t to like about my mate?”

  “Nothing.”

“It’s too late to pretend you like me. I’m the first to admit that Zack has many questionable traits, but he is not stupid.”

  “You think I’m stupid.”

“She said it.” He glared at Emily. “I didn’t.”

Zack lifted his lip in the evilest, sexiest smile she’d ever seen. “You’re putting words in my mate’s mouth. I don’t like it.”

“I don’t like it at all.” Emily moved closer to Zack and took his free hand. “My mouth belongs to you.” She lifted his hand to her mouth, drew his finger deep in her mouth and swirled her tongue around it before releasing it. “You’re the only man allowed to put things in my mouth.”

Lifting his brow, he parted his lips in a slow, sexy smile that promised retaliation. “I have something better than my finger for your mouth.”

Since she wasn’t one sit back and wait for retaliation, she knelt in front of him. Keeping her gaze on his, she merged her mind with his and made sure he felt her desire to wrap her lips around his full, hard cock. She shared erotic images of her mouth and tongue, working together, sucking and licking, driving him insane. Her teeth nipping, pushing him over the edge, stealing his control. “Do you plan to kill him before I get started.”

“You’re a crazy fucking bitch,” Carter growled.

Emily gasped, placing her hand over her mouth. “Oh, my god. Name calling? Really?”

“That was uncalled for,” Zack said.

She looked at Zack. “I’m sorry, snuggle buns. I can’t believe he called you a fucking bitch.”

“Actually, baby doll, he wasn’t talking to me.”

  “Are you sure?”

“Yes.” He took her hand and helped her up. “He called you a crazy fucking bitch.”

Eyes wide she looked at Carter. “Crazy?”

“That’s what he said, baby doll.”

She looked at Zack. “I am wrecked.”

  “Completely?”

  She nodded. “Destroyed.”

  “Crushed?”

“Utterly devastated.” She frowned, biting down on her bottom lip. “I am truly sorry, but I doubt I’ll be in the mood to let you put anything in my mouth for a very, very long time.”

  “Say it isn’t so.”

  “It’s so.”

“What if I make him apologize?”

“I like you a bunch. I think you’re really hot and yummy and everything. But I don’t want you to waste your time. Making him say he’s sorry won’t change my mood.”

  “Why?”

She took a deep breath and sighed. “I know he won’t mean it.”

  “Why?”

“We’ve been here for several minutes and he hasn’t apologized for kicking my ass out back in the alley a few nights ago after he led me to that other really mean demon.” Backing away from Zack, she looked at the vampire. “Do you feel that?”

  “What?”

“Something really terrible is about to happen to you.”

Zack snapped the vampire’s neck and dropped him. “He kicked your ass a few nights ago?”

  “I pissed him off.”

“Why am I just now hearing about it?”

“It wasn’t a big deal. Carter didn’t really hurt me. I left when I realized Demetri wasn’t here. And I told you that I had trouble when I came here to look for Demetri.”

“You didn’t tell me a vampire had led you to Erebus.”

“You didn’t ask.” For a second, realizing how easily he’d controlled and killed the vampire, she stared at him. Awe. Pride. Her man.

“What’s wrong?” he asked, holding his hand out to her.

“I…I just really, really…is it bad that watching how easily you controlled and killed Carter turned me on?”

“Not at all.” He pulled her into his arms. “I want you to want me. All of me wants all of you. But I am very upset with you right now.”

  “Why?”

“You know you should’ve called out to me before a vampire had a chance to kick your ass.”

  “He didn’t.”

  “You lied.”

“I did. But in my defense, after I kicked his ass, he really wanted to get back up and fight.”

“You scare the hell out of me, Emily.”

“Don’t be scared. I wouldn’t do anything to prevent you from being able to get back up and get your hands on me.”

“No more fighting vampires without me.”

  “You aren’t mad, are you?”

“I’m happy as long as you’re happy.” He sat down, pulled her down to straddle his lap. “And safe. You will always call to me when you’re threatened.”

“Always.” She made a face at him. “It smells terrible in here.”

  “I agree.”

Over Zack’s shoulder, she saw Demetri enter the club. “He’s here.” She jumped up from his lap.

Zack stood up and grabbed her arm to stop her. “Hold on.”

  “What’s wrong?”

  He’s not Demetri.

  You’re sure?

We need to leave. Tucking her under his arm, he ushered her out of the club and then shifted with her to the park across the street from her sister’s apartment.

  “What’s going on, Zack?”

  “I don’t know.”

“We need to go back to the club. We need to talk to whoever is walking around pretending to be Demetri. We need to make sure he’s okay.”

“We’ll figure out what’s going on, but we’re not returning to the club to do it.” Zack held her face in his hands to make sure her gaze remained on his. “You will not return to the club.”

“You know who’s parading around as him.”

  “I don’t know him. I just know he’s a skinwalker. A very old skinwalker.”

  “A what?”

  “A skinwalker.”

“You look worried. You think something has happened to Demetri?”

“I’m sure he’s fine. No skinwalker could take his form so flawlessly without consent.”

“What if he didn’t have a choice?”

  “Do you know Adam Vlacic?”

“Sure.” She nodded. “He’s Joseph’s friend.”

“The skinwalker has worked with Adam for centuries. I also spotted two wolves that work with Adam at the club.”

“What should we do?” she asked.

He pointed across the street. “Go visit with your sister. I’ll go
talk to Joseph. If he doesn’t know what’s going on, I’ll return to the club and talk to the skinwalker.”

  “I’ll go with you.”

“No.” He shook his head. “I don’t want you to go anywhere near the club until I know what’s going on.”

“I don’t want you to go alone.”

“I know. But I need to go alone. I won’t go unless you promise to stay here.”

“You don’t want me to go because you’re afraid something bad will happen.”

“I don’t know what will happen if I confront the skinwalker because I don’t have any idea what’s going on. I hope to avoid returning to the club to confront him by talking to Joseph.”

“Promise me you’ll come back to me unharmed.”

He pulled her into his arms and rested his forehead on hers. “I promise nothing will prevent me from coming back to you.”

She tipped her head back and feathered hot kisses up the column of his throat to the underside of his chin. “Unharmed.”

“Without a scratch.” He bent his head and kissed her deeply, completely. When he stopped kissing her and rested his forehead on hers again, he took a few seconds to simply feel her body against his and breathe with her. He knew better than to order her to stay. He could force her to stay. He was tempted to do it. He decided to try another way. “Promise me you will wait here for me.”

  “You’re worried.”

He didn’t want to remind her about what had happened in the past when he told her to stay put and wait for him. He didn’t want to talk about it at all. He still had nightmares over it. He was convinced he would never recover from it. Her courage scared the hell out of him. “I just need to know you’ll be safe.”

“I trust you, Zack. I don’t want you to worry about me doing something dumb and getting into trouble. I promise to wait here for you.”

“I am not worried about you doing something dumb.”

“You’re worried I’ll run off because you told me to stay here.”

He smiled. “Maybe just a little.”

Joseph opened Mia’s office door. “Close your eyes.”

Lifting her brow, she parted her lips in the slow and sexy smile that always took his breath away. “Why?”

He would always crave her, only her. “I brought a special surprise for you, angel.”
