Webster defines attitude as “a mental position; the feeling one has for oneself.” So what distinguishes attitude from esteem? Attitude is a mindset while esteem is action and manifest attitude. We esteem or treat ourselves poorly because that is the way we view ourselves in mind or attitude. Therefore, if it is success we desire we must alter our attitude to that befitting for success.

“I’m tired of running away from reality” Curtis E. Windham
An old proverb by a very wise leader suggested that what each individual seeks lies within his or her reach. However, you must reach out and grab it. The grabbing, grasping, looking and discovering is what keeps the average person from attaining that which he or she seeks. Ask anyone what they want or would like to achieve in life and you will get a variety of answers. For most people knowing WHAT they want is not a problem, it is being honest with themselves about whether or not they are doing what it takes to obtain it. Take out just a moment and think about your goals and dreams, now be honest, are you really striving toward them? Compare the time you spend watching TV., talking on the phone, listening to music, hanging with friends and reading about someone’s success to the amount of time you spend discovering, learning about and working toward your goals. Martin Luther King
Jr. said, “Once a man determines what he is made for in life, he should surrender all of his being to the accomplishment of this.” Perseverance is what determines whether a person will be a success or failure. Perseverance comes from the root word persevere. Persevere is defined as to continue in a course of action in spite of difficulties. This involves effort and dedication; effort being action toward the goal and dedication being a mindset of persevering. It is in persevering that experience is gained, and individuals began to believe in themselves. Throughout history, many individuals have changed their life and influenced the life of many others by refusing to give up. These individuals realize they need to take action by feeding their goals and starving any thoughts of failure. The greatest asset we have is time. Syrena
Jones once said, “Time is like air and water, there isn’t plenty of it, so make every mille-second count.” In short, you reap what you sow. The amount of time you invest into any endeavor shows the amount of dedication you have to accomplishing it, where it fits on your list of priorities shows how determined you are to its achievement. The attainment of your goals relies on selfawareness of your strengths, weaknesses, and ability to perform whatever it is you do 100% consistently. Many individuals persevere, yet never attaining success because there has been no attempt to recognize their weakness. For this reason, the same mistake hinders their success repeatedly.
