I don't have time to process anything before his words ring through the microphone for everyone to hear. “Grace Morgan, I love you. I am so in love with you. I know I’ve hurt you. I know I’ve made you doubt me. You need to know I’m serious, that I’m all in. I am.” He releases my hand to open the red, velvet covered jewelry box perched in his palm. “Marry me.”
The moment the large ring is revealed, my hand goes to my mouth to suppress my gasp. I have never seen anything more beautiful in my life. And it's not the oval cut diamond ring set on a white gold band that I'm talking about. But the man holding it.
“Will you marry me?” He repeats.
Reaching out, I pull him to his feet and do the only thing I know to do. I push up onto my tiptoes, wrap my hands around the back of his neck, and kiss him so passionately, I swear the people watching us can feel it.
This man is everything to me. He is my light, my comfort, my heart. Without him, life would never be complete.
The crowd erupts into applause around us and only then does it dawn on me that I never answered him.
Pulling away from his mouth, I peer up into his beautiful eyes and say the one thing that feels more right than anything else I have ever said or done before.
“Yes.”
