Broken Wings Page 12

by Sweet, Izzy

“Wow, that sounds pretty cool,” I say as I watch him.

Levi may have started out a little shy after we both met up in the kitchen, and he was really worried about having some cheese in his scrambled eggs, but like father like son. He’s as animated eating as he is describing his favorite shows.

“What’s that stuff you put on your eggs?” he asks as I dump more hot sauce on the last of my scrambled eggs.

“Hot sauce,” I say as I stab my fork down and then cram it into my mouth.

Gotta have hot sauce on just about everything when it comes to breakfast. Shit’s bland if it’s not spicy.

He watches me chew and asks, “Can I have some?”

“Uh…” Well fuck, I mean it can’t hurt, right? “Sure, but only a little.”

“Awesome!” he cheers, bouncing in his seat.

Reaching over to his plate, I put a little dot of red sauce on his eggs and say, “Here ya go, son.”

He carefully puts his fork in his eggs and lifts it up to his mouth. “Mikhail wouldn’t let me call him Dad.”

I have to fight the urge to growl out, “Cause he’s not your daddy, I am.”

Levi should know that I’m his fucking father. How the fuck did all this fucking happen? I never once thought I had a fucking child out there.

I didn’t know, and it fucking kills me.

Looking at me seriously, he doesn’t say anything. I can see the little wheels in his brain working, but he’s keeping his thoughts to himself on this matter.

Sticking the fork in his mouth, he takes a bite and smiles at me for about five seconds before his face balloons bright red.

He gasps out in a small squeak, “Hot!”

  Fuck.

“Shit, buddy!” I jump up and grab his drink, holding it up to his lips. “Drink, it’ll help.”

He takes a huge gulp of water and then squeaks, “It’s burning!”

Grabbing a piece of my buttered toast, I grab him by the chin and say, “Hold out your tongue!”

Sticking it out, he whines until I press the buttery side of the toast down on his tongue and cross my eyes at him. The giggle he gives sounds more like a cry when he does it, but he crosses his eyes right back at me.

“What the hell is going on?!” Allie screeches at my back and all at once I can feel her entire presence filling the dining room.

Well, fuck me with a tailpipe.

Turning my head to Allie while I keep the piece of toast on Levi’s tongue, I try to figure out the best way to explain this. “My boy wanted to try hot sauce.”

“He what?! And you let him?” Allie all but shouts at me as she rushes around the table to wrap her arm around Levi.

She starts batting my hand away from his mouth.

“Well, yeah.” I shrug and push her hand back out of the way so I can keep the toast on his tongue.

“What are you doing?” she asks.

“Coolin’ his tongue off,” I say and then watch as Levi pushes away from both of us.

He looks up at his momma and I can see a storm brewing.

Oh shit, he’s definitely my boy.

“I wanted to!” he grumps loudly and grabs his fork.

Stabbing at the last of his eggs, he pops them into his mouth before either of us have a chance to stop him.

I look to Allie and she looks at me, and I can see that glint in her eyes that tells me she’s got somethin’ going on between those ears of hers.

“Oh!” Levi says as he finishes swallowing the eggs, distracting us once again.

Grabbing the toast from my fingers, he sticks his tongue out at us before slapping the buttery side back on it, all the while giggling.

  Momma ain’t happy though.

Looking me dead in the eyes, Allie says, “Can we talk in your kitchen for a moment, please?”

She may be using them nice words, but she’s got an attitude from hell with ‘em.

Smiling at her, I say, “Our kitchen.”

I stand from the table and look at Levi. “When you’re finished here, son, go turn on the Roku I showed ya and get us some cartoons ready. I wanna see these lightsabers.”

“Yay!” he shouts as he bolts up from his chair.

“Whoa, mister. Last piece of bacon, mine or yours?” I ask him.

He rubs his tummy. “Ugh, I’m full.”

Smirking at him, I nod my head to the living room. “Go get it started.”

Allie watches our little byplay with a thin-lipped smile. She’s obviously happy our son is so happy, but she’s pissed as fuck at me. As soon as Levi is out of the room, she stomps her cute little feet past me and right into the kitchen.

Fucking hell, her ass bounces with each stomp. And just to make it even sexier for me, she’s wearing a clean pair of my boxers and one of my faded black heavy metal t-shirts.

My mouth waters at the sight of her ass moving. The thought of bending her over the kitchen counter as I cram my fat fucking cock back in her is enough to remind me I need to put some jeans on soon or I’m going to be showing the house my fucking prick.

The stomping and huffing sounds she makes as she waits for me to enter the kitchen pisses me off though.

I’m about fucking sick of this bullshit memory of hers, she can’t keep fucking playing stupid.

Walking into the kitchen has my blood on fire, I can feel it coursing through my fucking veins. All the fucking anger of my son being so damn scared of me… I could barely hold him without him feeling afraid I might fucking hurt him.

What kind of fucking mother allows her fucking son to live in fear?

“I’m not your Allie and he’s not your son. I know that’s not what you want to hear and I don’t care,” she snaps at me the moment I step into the kitchen.

Nodding my head, I ask, “What else?”

Tilting her head to the side, those chocolate brown eyes I used to lose myself in darken.

“You had no right to kidnap us. I don’t know who the fuck you are or what the hell is happening!” She raises her voice, but not loud enough to be heard over the TV in the living room. “You’re a fucking lowlife thug! A fucking dirty biker! You… you fucking raped me last night!”

Those words are all true except that last little bit.

Nodding my head to everything she says, I grin at her. “Raped you, huh? So what was that when you climbed up on my fat fucking cock that second time and rode me like a fuckin’ bitch in heat?”

That same damn feral look returns to her eyes as she snarls at me, “You’re a piece of shit! You’ve taken us hostage, you’ve terrified my son, and you are fucking delusional! I’m not yours. I don’t know who the fuck this girl you think I am is, and I don’t care! If she was smart, she probably took one look at you and fucking ran!”

  “Who’s Mikhail?” I ask.

Yeah, I’ll get to what she just said soon enough, but I want her ass to answer my fucking questions first.

The bruising on her face is even worse today. She’s got a shiner on her left eye and her chin looks like it took a hit. There’s definite swelling on the left side of her cheek. That shit wasn’t from me.

  I don’t hit women.

I may want to choke the shit out of her right now, but I don’t beat my women. From what’s gone down, I’m assuming the man who did that shit to her hit her enough that she finally ran. Ran because this was one of those beatings she knew would be her last.

  Run or die.

I’ve seen all types of people come through this town and even more through our strip clubs. She was on the run. I’ve seen enough women running to be sure of that. My old man had a few rules in our Chapter that I’ve kept. We don’t sell drugs, we don’t kill kids, and we don’t beat our ol’ ladies.

Hell, Darlene has a halfway house set up for women who need to escape men.

Whatever my son was around was dangerous enough to cause Allie to run, run for Kentucky.

“How… Who…” Her eyes turn wide and I can see the devil in them chasing her.
r />   “My son told me a little. Not enough to know the full story, but enough to know why he crawled into bed with us last night and slept next to the one person who will kill to keep him safe,” I say as I slowly start stalking toward her.

Her eyes dart around the kitchen, searching for a way to get past me. That shit ain’t happenin’. I’ve been slowly edgin’ her into the corner of the cabinets for a fucking reason.

“He’s… he’s… Levi and I need to leave, please,” she says with real fear in her voice.

“No, you left me five years ago. You left and I fucking died that day,” I snarl as I get closer to her.

“I didn’t! I’ve never been here!” she shouts in my face.

“Oh yes the fuck you have!” I all but scream into her face. “I was there the night you were in the fucking wreck. I was there the whole time you were in a coma. I was there the day you fucking disappeared from my life!”

“Accident?” she whispers, her face turning white with shock.

“Yeah, Allie, the day you fucking laid in the hospital with a broken body jacked to hell. I was there when Horse got fucking buried. He shouldn’t have been taking you home, it should’ve been me. Maybe then you wouldn’t have gotten all fucked up.”

I’m so fucking pissed right now I can barely see straight. My eyes are swelling up with that heated feeling.

Allie just makes gulping noises as she watches me in terror. I put each hand on the counter, effectively trapping her between my arms as I tower over her.

My voice comes out in a harsh whisper, “You were my fucking Allie Cat and you left me. I have a son who’s a stranger to me.”

Time slows down as I try to contain the hurt and rage I feel at the world, Allie, and most of all myself. She should have been on the back of my bike, under my protection. Horse was a shitty person to put her on the back of. If I could go back and change that day, I would. I would do it in a heartbeat.

But I can’t, and every single day since she left, I’ve hated myself for it.

The shrilling sound of my cellphone ringing blares from the kitchen table. If the world was burning down around Allie and me, I’d still be the Pres.

“Fuck!” I snarl and turn away from her.

There’s too much happening right now, too much that needs to be said and done. But I have the outside world waitin’ on that phone, and as much as I want to figure out what the fuck is going on with Allie, I have to answer it.

Snatching the phone from the table, I press connect when I see that it’s the local sheriff’s number. His personal number.

“What’s going on, Harry?” I ask.

“We got a dead girl of yours in the trunk of a car,” he says with a deeply pissed off growl.

“What the fuck? How do you know she’s one of ours?” I ask and put my free hand up to the back of my neck.

I can just feel the headache that’s about to erupt.

“You think I don’t know a club girl? This one here’s Snowbird,” he says.

  “Goddammit,” I breathe out.

“Her being dead in the trunk of the car ain’t the only issue,” he goes on.

“Yeah? No shit, Harry,” I say feeling this is about to get a lot worse.

“Come down to the address I’m gonna send you. You need to see this in person.”

I’m about to ask him what the fuck’s going on, but he’s already disconnected the call.

  Shit.

Looking down at my phone, I frown. Fucking hell, can the world stop turning for just one fucking minute?

As soon as the text with the address arrives, I groan. It’s one of our strip mall parking lots. This ain’t the best look for us. We’re supposed to be keeping the crime out of our town, not bringing it in.

Pressing the contact for Whitey, I only have to wait two rings before he picks up.

“Pres?” comes his deep, soft voice.

“Harry just called, Snowbird was found in the trunk of a car at one of our fuckin’ strip mall parking lots,” I say.

  “Goddammit, when?”

I look back at the kitchen. “No clue when they found her, but he wants me down there. I need you to send three brothers up to guard my house, pronto.”

Allie would be out of here the moment I fucking pulled out on the street. Ain’t no way I’m letting her run, and I sure as fuck need her protected.

  “What’s goin’ on?” he asks.

“Grem fill you in on Allie?” I ask.

“Yeah, and boy, you must be one lucky—” he starts to say before I cut him off.

“She don’t fuckin’ remember who I am, Whitey, and she’s tryin’ to run. I need her protected and secure,” I say and then head to the living room.

“Fuck, that ain’t no good. I’ll get Hammy, Steve, and Poster Boy up there.”

“Good, I’m taking Grem with me. I’ll let you know what’s happening as soon as I do.”

“Alright, be safe, Coy. I can feel a cold-ass wind comin’ from somewhere,” he rumbles.

“Will do. And if you can, get a hold of Anchorage. We need those guns now.”

Pushing the disconnect button, I look down at Levi and smile at his happy face. It’s still slightly greasy from all that butter, but damned if he don’t look happy.

“Gotta get dressed, little guy,” I say before heading back to the kitchen.

“Come with me,” I say to Allie.

She’s regained some of her composure but not enough to fight me too hard.

Heading back into the bedroom, I strip out of my jeans and boxers. “I gotta go out for a couple of hours.”

  “What? Why?” she asks.

“Club business,” I say and turn to look at her.

Is that concern I see at me leaving? Does she realize yet I’m the fucking one that’s going to keep her safe and cared for? Probably not.

  But she will.

“Don’t get the idea you’ll be skittering out the door, either. I’ve got brothers comin’ over to keep your narrow ass safe,” I say as I yank on a fresh pair of jeans.

Fuck boxers today, it’s going to be hot as fuck out there.

“We need to run, Coy. We can’t stay here,” she pleads.

Looking up from putting my boots on, I say, “Allie, you’ll never be safer than when you have me. I’ll kill every single motherfucker that comes our way. It’s not only us anymore, it’s our family.”

Standing up from the bed, I walk right up to her. “You’re mine, woman. Don’t fuckin’ forget that, ever. I’m gonna torture whoever the fuck this Mikhail is, torture and then bury his ass.”

She shakes her head at me. “He’s an evil man, Coy. He’s with the Russian mafia. You can’t protect us.”

“Watch me,” I say before grabbing the back of her head and tightly twisting my fingers in her hair.

Pressing my lips hard against hers, she slaps at my chest, but I don’t fucking relent. She needs to know she’s mine.

She will always be mine, no matter the fucking cost.

My tongue pushes hard against her lips, forcing them apart. She resists for so long that I’m about to throw her on the bed and fuck her back into submission, but finally she gives in. Her tongue comes out timidly and her hands clutch at my shirt.

Grabbing that juicy ass, I pull her tight against my cock and grind hard into her.

Pulling away from her mouth, I say, “You’re mine, Allie. I took claim on you a long time ago. You tell me you don’t remember me, but you will.”

  “Coy…” she breathes out heavily.

“Coy!” Levi shouts from the living room, breaking the moment.

“Yeah? And what did I say about that?” I shout back across the house to him as I grab my kutte from the dresser.

Sliding it over my shoulders, I turn to Allie and grab her hand, pulling her to the living room with me.

“Dad… sorry,” he says loud enough for us to hear.

“What’s up, little man?” I say over the loud gasp Allie makes.

  “It
’s lightsaber time!” Levi shouts with joy.

“Sweet,” I shout right back as I release Allie’s hand and jog up to the couch.

Jumping over the back, I land right next to a squeaking Levi.

Putting my arm around him, I say, “Show me, buddy. I gotta go in a bit.”

“Okay, why are you leaving?” he asks with a pout.

“Business,” I say and then motion for Allie to join us.

She looks between us both with wary eyes before she notices Levi looking up at her with a smile.

Seeing his smile, she relents. “Oh boy, I don’t know if I can handle all the action!”

“You can!” Levi cheers at her.

“That’s not what you—” I start to smirk at her before she cuts me off.

“Finish that sentence and I’ll stab you in your sleep.” She glares at me before plopping down to sit next to Levi.

Laughing at that face of hers, I nod my head. “Fair enough.”

Fuck, it feels far too right to lift my arm and place it over Allie’s shoulder with Levi between us.

Everything in the world just seems so right, so good right now, I smile and watch the show. Levi is so fucking infectious with his enthusiasm, I get caught up in it.

A loud pounding on my front door yanks me out of it though, followed by Hammy shouting out to Steve about something.

Well, fuck, looks like it’s time to go to work.

  Chapter Twelve

  Allie

Stuck on the couch with Coy and Levi, I try my best to be interested in Levi’s show for him.

But my mind won’t stop racing and my emotions are all over the place.

When I woke up this morning, I was so mad I could have spit fire. But now… Now I don’t know how I feel.

I want to stay angry at Coy, I do. But the bastard is making it incredibly hard for me.

There are so many reasons to be angry with him. He put us through hell yesterday, and last night…

  Oh god, last night.

I can’t even think about it without my stomach clenching.

And yet I can’t hate him.

No, after what he said in the kitchen about the accident, then what he said in the bedroom about protecting us, I can’t fucking hate him.
