His Burning Heart: Real Men of Wildridge Page 9

by Kyle, Celia

Tessa wasn’t a dragon, but that seemed to matter little in the grand scheme of things. When it came to Dyrk, she didn’t need to be a shifter to turn into a wild animal. As if to prove that point, she pushed her hips against him and forced him to roll to the side. Once his back hit the mattress, she jumped on top of him, her fingers turning into claws.

“You have no idea how much I want you,” she growled, loving the huskiness of her own voice.

Digging her fingernails into his hard chest, she sucked in a deep breath and positioned herself so that her knees were on either side of his thighs. Straddling him, she grabbed his hard cock by the root, its warmth seeping into her fingers.

Never looking away from him, she pressed the tip against her wetness and began swaying her hips. Her movements were steady and maddening, but it didn’t take long before unbridled lust took over. As she ground against him, the swaying motion of her body became more rhythmic, her movement guided by desperation. The same seemed to be happening to Dyrk.

Gritting his teeth, he moved his hands to her backside, his palms fitting perfectly over her curves. He pulled her in, as if he simply couldn’t stand not being inside her, but she had other plans.

“Patience,” she whispered and then gave him a teasing wink, thinking of how patient she’d had to be all this time.

Sliding down his body, she kneeled between his legs, a devilish grin spreading across her lips. Before Dyrk could do anything to stop her, she leaned in, the tip of her tongue reaching for his cock. Her eyelids fluttered right before she made contact, and a second later the taste of his manliness coated her tongue.

Slowly, she opened her mouth wide and allowed him inside. Her lips rolled down his length until she could feel him pressed against the back of his throat, and she held her position there for a couple of heartbeats. The way his hardness throbbed against her tongue, weighing it down, was almost too much for her to take. How could anyone be this perfect?

Allowing instinct to take the steering wheel, she began bobbing her head, her lips traveling up and down his entire length. Her fingers remained wrapped around him and, as her head moved, so did her hand.

“That feels…damn,” he breathed, both his hands now on her head. He ran his fingers through her hair but made no attempt to control her movements. Instead, he simply relaxed into her rhythm, his ragged breathing a clear-cut indicator that he was loving every second of it.

She pushed herself to the limit as his cock throbbed hard, knowing it wouldn’t be long before he passed the point of no return. There were so many things she still wanted to do, but if he exploded while inside her mouth… Well, she wasn’t going to complain, that was for sure.

Dyrk, though, refused to let that happen.

Before he went over the edge, he brought one hand to her forehead and forced her to hold still. She looked up, curious, and her heart skipped a beat as she saw the look of pure bliss on his face. His whole body had gone tense, and she could tell he was struggling to keep it together.

“Come here,” he whispered, slowly pulling his hard member from inside her mouth. There was a wet pop as his cock escaped the tight embrace of her lips, but Tessa barely registered it. One second she was kneeling between his legs, and the next she was lying on her back.

Grabbing her by the wrists, Dyrk finally let the dominant nature of his dragon take over. He pinned her arms over her head, his pupils narrowing to slits as his gaze took in every inch of her naked body before he finally started closing in on her.

As he lowered himself over her body, she immediately laced her legs around his waist, desperate to feel his nakedness against hers. She held her breath and closed her eyes, electricity crackling under her skin. Her heart tightened into a little fist as the tip of his cock pressed against her entrance, and her mind almost exploded as he eased himself in.

Nothing could have prepared her for it.

His length stretched her wide as it slid inside, his flesh straining against her inner walls, and she felt as if both her body and mind were being filled with more pleasure than she could handle. Her nipples had become hard enough to cut glass, she was so wet that she was literally dripping, and her mind spun like a rock someone had hurled into space.

“You’re so tight,” he whispered into her ear. The way his lips brushed against her skin sent a shiver up her spine. She wanted to say something, but it was impossible. The moment he was fully inside her, her brain could do nothing but process the avalanche of pleasure coming her way. All nonessential functions were shutting down, and her whole existence became fully devoted to the present moment. “We should’ve done this sooner.”

This time she didn’t even bother trying to come up with anything to say. She merely closed her eyes and opened herself up to what was happening. Gently, Dyrk rocked his hips, his slow-moving thrusts unleashing something inside her that she couldn’t even begin to describe.

Her body was burning up, and she couldn’t tell if it was due to the heat coming off Dyrk’s body or from the swirling lust inside her. When she next opened her mouth, she did it so that she could moan, the sound of her voice filling up the entire bedroom. She moaned loudly enough for the neighbors to hear, but she didn’t care. As far as she was concerned, it was time for the world to know they were together.

“Harder,” she found herself saying, her hips settling into a swaying motion. “Harder. Don’t hold back.”

“I won’t,” Dyrk said, and then he crushed his lips against hers.

As their tongues danced once more, their hips seemed to settle into the same rhythm, Dyrk’s thrusts matching the way Tessa moved under him.

“I think I’m gonna…” she trailed off, unable to finish her sentence.

Her insides clenched, her inner walls becoming as tight as a vise, and her moans turned into a violent scream. She writhed under him, a detonation going off inside her mind, and all her thoughts turned to ash. She came as hard as she had ever come, and that for the second time in a row.

  The best part of it?

  They weren’t done.

  Not yet.

Dyrk pulled out from her, hungry for more, and she trembled in place, unable to think, much less move. Then, reaching down, he placed both hands on her hips and made her turn around. Knowing exactly what he wanted from her, she went on all fours, using whatever strength she had left to support herself.

“What are you waiting for?” she asked, looking back at him over one shoulder. She wiggled her backside, inviting him in, and he didn’t waste a single second. He closed the distance between them, his thighs pressing against her ass, and then pushed his hard length past her inner thighs.

All it took was one thrust.

She cried out in bliss as he sheathed himself up to the hilt, his fingers digging into her thighs, and he started thrusting with the relentlessness only a dragon would be capable of. Her lips tightened into a white line as his powerful thighs slapped her backside over and over again, the sound of flesh on flesh blending with her quivering moans.

  It was heaven.

This time, she didn’t need to ask him to go harder. He went all out right from the start, each and every one of his thrusts as powerful as she wanted them to be. She’d always thought she had it all figured out, that she knew herself as much as anyone possibly could, but now she was waking a different part of herself.

Her entire being was blooming, the connection she had with Dyrk like sunlight and rain on a bed of flowers. All along, she’d known there was something special about him, but this…this was something else entirely.

Before she even knew what she was doing, she threw herself forward, somehow escaping from his hold. She spun around on the mattress and, before he could understand what was going on, she brought her hands up to his chest. One hard push and he was lying flat on his back.

She climbed on top of him like a wild predator about to pounce on its prey, and this time she didn’t hesitate to thrust herself on his length. Leaning forward, she rested her forehead agains
t his.

“I hope this doesn’t freak you out,” she breathed out, “but I really love you, Dyrk.”

“What a coincidence,” he said, a warm glint in his eyes. “It just so happens that I love you too.”

Before she could say anything else, he laid his hand on the nape of her neck and pulled her in. Their mouths met once more and, as they kissed, she finally started moving her body. She rode him as hard as she could, her muscles burning from the effort, but she didn’t let that stop her.

Beads of sweat trickled between her breasts as she ignored the exhaustion that was taking over, but she turned all that into fuel. Her body moved in waves, her hips rolling over his endlessly, and she knew she would only stop once she had ridden him straight into oblivion.

  It didn’t take long.

“Oh, fuck,” Dyrk groaned, and then it was his turn to thrust.

He pushed his hips off the bed, burying all of his inches inside of her, and then he held still as his cock throbbed against her inner walls. Neither of them moved, everything hanging in the balance.

She only realized she had been holding her breath when she felt him spill his warm seed inside of her. She trembled and quivered, the release valve inside her body finally turning, and she let out a scream vicious enough to shatter glass.

Sitting on top of him, her head thrown back, she let wave upon wave of ecstasy wash over her. For the first time in her life, it wasn’t just about guesswork. She truly knew all of her chakras were aligned.

It was, of course, more than just that.

Now, she truly understood what it meant to be happy.

  Chapter Ten

Tessa’s eager gaze was fixed on Dyrk as he swallowed the sour liquid carefully. He didn’t want to spill any of it, or his rig would reek for weeks. Squinting from the taste, he did his best to keep his eyes on the road. They’d enjoyed a lovely morning off, per Charlie’s orders, but they were already heading back to the office.

“Lemon,” he said, passing the bottle back to her. “That one’s easy.”

  “And?” she pressed.

He was starting to regret asking, “What exactly does that crap taste like?” a few moments ago.

“Ginger? And something else. I can’t quite remember it, but it’s the weird one.”

  “You are so close.”

“Turmeric!” He snapped his fingers and then immediately wondered who the hell he was.

“It’s pretty good with watermelon too,” she said smugly.

Dyrk rolled his eyes and took another swig. “It’s kind of like…the bite is what makes me keep drinking it. Is that possible?”

Tessa’s light laugh made his heart flutter. It beat for her anyway, so that made sense.

“Not really, but if it helps you sleep at night. So, you, Dyrk Fortis, are willing to go on record as actually liking kombucha?”

“Wait, this is on the record?” He tipped her a wink as he pulled into the parking lot.

Everyone else had already arrived by the time they strolled in through the front door. Everyone. The place buzzed with at least twice as much activity as usual, thanks to about twice as many people milling around.

The team from Skypoint Security who had, in Allon’s eloquent words “saved their collective ass,” cheerfully mingled with the Wildridge Security specialists like they’d worked together for years. The vibe felt more like a successful office party than the debriefing Dyrk had expected.

As if on cue, Charlie himself swept out of the break room, flagging the two of them down with a broad smile. “Ah, there you are! Excellent timing. Robb was just asking about you two.”

“Looks like nobody’s had any trouble breaking the ice.” Tessa beamed.

“Not at all, not at all.” Charlie winked. “I’ve been trying to get all of us together like this for a long time, honestly, and—” He glanced over his shoulder before saying more quietly to Dyrk, “I foresee a little more collaboration with Skypoint on the horizon, which is very good news.”

That could be interesting, Dyrk thought.

“The universe brought both teams together at the most serendipitous moment to bring light back to dragondom,” Tessa said with an almost giddy lilt. “Where is the dark force that brought so much pain?”

Both men stared at her for a second before understanding what she was asking. Sometimes Dyrk wished for a Tessa Translator device. Hopefully it wouldn’t take long for him to get the hang of it.

“Oh, Xavier?” Charlie asked. “Othercross Shifter Judicial is processing him as we speak. We’ll hear no more about him until his trial, and I have no doubt he’ll remain in custody for the rest of his life.

  “Can’t argue with those results.”

Dyrk was already thinking about the long nights ahead of him, tracking down all of Stark Bradford’s stolen assets. Others might complain, but he loved his work and couldn’t wait to get started. Still, if things became stressful, the solution was holding his hand and beaming up at him. Dyrk was convinced Tessa was at least part sunshine. She fed off cheerfulness in a room like a solar panel and gave it right back.

“Dyrk, this is actually someone you’ll want to get to know.” Charlie led them to the break room, where a handful of people chatted over a freshly brewed pot of coffee.

Charlie caught the attention of a woman with blonde hair and hazel eyes dressed in a sharp gunmetal gray and lavender suit from a designer Dyrk recognized and respected. She arched an eyebrow but turned cordially enough and gave them an icy smile.

“Cyra, this is Dyrk Fortis, your counterpart here at Wildridge,” Charlie explained as she and Dyrk shook hands with a curt, professional nod.

“I’ve heard about you,” she said to Dyrk. “Sounds like you’ve been cleaning up some impressive messes. Is it weird to say I don’t envy you but…I also kind of do?”

“Trust me, I get it. This is my girlfriend, as well as our receptionist, Tessa.”

“And these,” Charlie said, turning to the other two Skypoint agents present, “are Enzo and Pia, who are…?” Charlie trailed off, wincing as he gave the others the opening to introduce themselves.

“Cybersecurity,” Pia said smoothly without looking up from her phone as she brushed a curl of red hair out of her eyes before she noticed Tessa’s flowy green peasant blouse. “Can I ask where you…?”

“A place called Shifting Dimensions in Silver Lake,” Tessa grinned. “It’s all hemp.”

“Writing that down, thank youuu,” she trailed off cheerfully as the man called Enzo rolled his eyes.

“Personal security,” the burly blond said, stretching his arms and rolling his shoulders back. “A little disappointed I haven’t met the woman who’s been keeping all the good Los Angeles bodyguard contracts locked down.”

“You must be talking about Wyntir,” Tessa said. “I can’t wait to meet the rest of your team.”

“Here’s the short version,” Pia said, pointing out the other Skypoint members as she went along. “Onyx is the tall hottie over there talking to Ragan, she does security systems. Uh, the silver fox talking to Grizz is Xander, who does the cloak and dagger stuff. And the dufus piling his plate with doughnuts is Spike.”

The tall man with wavy brown hair turned and blinked at Pia with a flat expression. “You know I’m, like, less than three feet from you. Right?”

Pia sighed heavily. “I know that, dork. I was hoping you’d have a funny comeback to impress these nice people, but now they all think we hate each other.”

“You think my comebacks are funny? Awww!” Spike appeared genuinely touched, but Pia rolled her eyes and turned back to Dyrk and Tessa.

“Skip tracer. New guy who replaced Chelle after your boy Allon stole her away from us.” She leaned in and stage whispered, “He’s just okay.”

“I heard that,” Spike mumbled around a mouthful of maple bar.

“Did I hear my name being taken in vain?” Chelle, the tough redhead who had stolen Allon’s heart, muscled her wait into the increasingly crowded
break room and draped her arms over her old workmate’s shoulders. “Or do you just miss me?”

“Still insufferable, I see,” Pia said with a warm smile.

  “Same ol’ Chelle,” Spike teased.

Chelle snatched a raised glazed off his plate and grinned. “You know it.”

  “How’s Colorado, Chelle?” Dyrk asked.

“It totally kicks ass! I had no idea dragon skiing was a thing. Did any of you?”

“What—” Tessa started to ask but was interrupted by Charlie calling them all out to the main office.

Dyrk allowed their guests to exit first and then brushed a quick kiss on Tessa’s cheek before escorting her out. Funny how letting down your defenses, ones you’d spent so many years carefully constructing, could change your life so profoundly and beautifully. He didn’t even care if he sounded like a hippie anymore. All those old prejudices had evaporated, opening the world to him.

Just as they reached the rest of the party, the outer doors swung open and Wyntir breezed in, followed by Stark and his son Blaise. Only Wyntir could walk off a nineteen-hour flight looking like she’d just stepped out of the pages of a glamour magazine—pristine white and purple skirt suit, heels that could kill, and a lovely sun-kissed glow one only got when vacationing with their true love.

“Welcome home!” Charlie shouted as everyone crowded around the new arrivals. “Well, isn’t this cause for celebration?”

Ragan elbowed his way to the front of the press of bodies, slightly breathless and eyes glittering with excitement. “You want a real reason to celebrate? Just this morning I found a couple of Xavier’s offshore accounts and I’m tracking down even more.”

Stark rubbed the back of his neck like a man who’d recently been blindsided. “I still can’t believe Xavier had me so completely fooled.”
