With all the physical response going on with my body, I haven’t said anything out loud. My silence seems to concern Kira. She lowers her eyes and says, “If you want me, that is.”
“Yeah, I want you.” Right now I want her pretty damn badly. But this conversation is about building a relationship based on more than sex. At least, I hope it is. Not for the first time since I met Kira, I wonder what’s happened to me.
Well, might as well go all in. “I told the whole campus that I believe in a wishing tree. Would I have done that if I wasn’t totally into you?”
Kira nods to the paper between us. “Are you saying you don’t really believe this?”
“Oh, no. I believe. I’ll never be able to find that place again even if my life depended on it, so I spent all week wishing on this dang photo of that tree instead.” I lean my head in closer to hers. “And it worked. Because here you are.”
I let my lips brush hers softly before moving in for a deeper kiss. I don’t want her to think I’m only interested in her physically. It’s a kiss that shows affection, not lust. My tongue remains shallow as it slips into her mouth. My hands stay wrapped around her waist, even though they long to wander. It takes great restraint not to take it further, but I somehow stay strong.
When I pull away, her eyes are big and her lips pink. Pink kisses…that reminds me of something. I run my thumb across her cheek in a sweet caress. “It’s Valentine’s Day. Will you be mine?”
Kira twists her lip in that ultra-sexy way of hers—man, she’s killing me. “If I say yes, does that mean I’m going to get laid?”
