Security Needs (His Curvy Craving Book 2) Page 8

by Alexa Blue

She walks over to the bedroom door, glancing out at the tied-up stranger. "Are you going to join me, or must I do this interrogation myself?" Britney says as if completely ignoring my request for her not to get involved.

God, amid life versus death, Britney still manages to find a way to be so fucking sexy.

I open the bedside drawer, grab hold of a pen and a note pad, and walk out to meet Britney at the dining room table.

She’s only been with the man for a few moments, and she’s already crouching down, wiping his tears from his face. "Oh, no, no, no. Please don't cry. We'll figure this out, I promise.”

I stand at the door and watch as the scene unfolds.

"Listen, I don't know what you did to get yourself in this mess, but it's okay. We all make mistakes. Carter and I will help to get you out of this mess.” Britney turns her head and looks at me. “Right, Carter?”

I take a step forward. He really is just an innocent kid. If anyone knows how easy it is to get caught up in Gambit’s world where he rules with an iron fist and holds you captive, it’s me.

Once I’m certain Britney’s safe, I leave the two of them to chat over a cup of coffee as I jot down a note addressed to Gambit.

While writing it, I hear Jonathan telling Britney that he got involved with Gambit after he tried to help out his mother. She struggles with addiction, and he thought he could help her out by paying for her treatment. He borrowed money from Gambit to help put her in a treatment center two years back when he was sixteen. His mother ran away with the money and hasn’t been seen since. Jonathan’s been forced to work for Gambit to ‘pay off his debt’ ever since.

Gambit has been trying to own my life since I first accepted his loan, but what he doesn’t know is that I now have resources of my own—resources working around the clock to help me get rid of him. Gambit thrives on knowing that there’s a long line of people to go through before you get through to him and that almost no one knows his true identity. But my guys have been working night and day to dig up as much dirt on Gambit as I possibly can. I finally have enough info on him to ruin him and get him to back the fuck off, once and for all.

I slip the written note into an envelope. “Jonathan, I know you’re just the runner, but I need you to tell your next in line to make sure that Gambit gets this letter, okay?”

  “Yes, sir.”

“As soon as you deliver it, I need you to get as far away from them as possible. Meet me at this address tomorrow.” I hand him a piece of paper with the address of my house. He’s a good kid, and I’ll be damned if I allow him to go through the hell I had to: continually watching your back in fear that one of Gambit's loons may be lurking around the corner. This kid does not deserve to be running Gambit’s filthy errands, and I’ll do everything in my power to make sure this comes to an end.

I pull Britney into my arms, and she waves goodbye to Jonathan.

“See you tomorrow,” she says and turns to me. “Babe, we have to help him.”

I plant a kiss on her forehead. “Don’t worry, I’ve got a plan.”

  Attention: Gambit.

Or should I say Michael Valonski? That is your real name, right? Michael Valonski that lives in a large, white, double-story house with four cars parked out front. 67th Fifth Street, Chicago, to be exact.

I must say your wife, Venicia, is one beautiful woman. She must get her looks from her mother, Sofia. Damien and Arnold are also lovely boys. Please send them my regards.

Oh, before I forget, how’s your mother—Elizabeth, is it? I’ve been meaning to pay her a visit in San Francisco in that apartment you bought for her two years back. I hope she’s well.

I just wanted to get the formalities out of the way. Back to business.

Let this serve as a warning. You are to stay away from me, my family, and those closest to me.

You will leave Jonathan alone as well. I have attached a check for $100,000 and trust that will settle his debt.

I hope we have an understanding because I would hate to have anything happen to your lovely family.

  Regards,

  Carter

  Three Months Later

Jessie lets out a loud yawn for all to hear. “I’m tired! I don’t want to do this.”

Dan’s three-year-old daughter stomps her feet, frustrated that no one is willing to hear her out. ‘No’ is not the answer she wants to hear. But when that’s the only answer she gets, she chucks the flower petals at the people on either side of her as she scuffs down the aisle.

Trumpets sound the Wedding March. That's my cue. Dan, Carter's younger brother, runs up to me, moments before I make my way down the aisle.

“Britney, I’m so sorry. I think Jessie’s just a little tired from the flight. She isn’t usually this grumpy.”

I place my hand on Dan’s shoulder. “Don’t worry about it, little brother. I’m sure she’s just tired and hungry. Weddings aren’t exactly paradise for kids.”

His brows curl into a frown. I don’t think he appreciates me calling him ‘little brother,’ not when he’s like seven years older than me. Carter insists I keep calling him that; I think he gets a kick out of seeing his brother annoyed.

About a hundred of my closest friends and family stand to their feet and cheer me on as I turn the corner and walk out onto the red carpet. Some people even let out little “oohs” and “wows.”

I wanted to keep the wedding ceremony intimate. The reception will be massive, with around 400 of my closest followers attending.

No one could have been more ecstatic to find out I'm getting married than my fans. As soon as the word got out, they set up a Go-Fund-Me account and managed to collect enough money to buy me the most beautiful Vera Wang designer gown. It’s a dress that little girls dream of when they one day picture their own wedding.

Not to sound vain, but I absolutely love what she has done with this dress. From the three hundred Swarovski crystals scattered around my dress to the way it fits me. The royal white satin molds around my curves, giving me that extra shape and even enhancing my assets. Even with me being two months pregnant, you would never be able to tell because I could give any of those Disney princesses a run for their money.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” the pastor says and clears his throat. That’s the cue for everyone to settle down. Pastor McCauley is probably in his sixties, although he doesn’t look a day older than a hundred. Carter thinks he’s perfect because he’s a close family friend. He’s also one of the few pastors you don’t need to book weeks in advance, and I think I understand why. Let’s just say that he doesn’t strike me as someone particularly religious. When we first met up with him, we walked in on him downing a bottle of whiskey. Without closing the bottle first, he chucked it in his drawer as soon as we walked into his office. We spent that entire afternoon taking in the fumes of his whiskey and discussing our wedding arrangements.

I take a few moments to scan the venue, before turning back to Carter.

“Babe, this is beautiful,” I whisper softly so that only he hears me. With all the stress that went into planning this thing, it turned out magnificent.

He takes a few moments to gaze into my eyes. “You should see the view from where I’m standing.”

"Ahem." The pastor clears his throat again—this time, the annoyed glares are directed at us. “Ladies and gentleman, we are gathered here today—”

A ringing phone throws Pastor McCauley off, and he stops speaking. That classic monotone Nokia ringtone has everyone’s attention.

Our priest rolls his eyes and lets out an enormous sigh. “Dear Lord, can someone please get that? Everyone, please switch your phone to silent to respect the ceremony.”

Carter grins at me before leaning over to the priest. “Ahem. Pastor, I think that’s your phone.”

His eyes widen, and his cheeks flush. “Oh. Silly me.” He reaches for his phone and red-buttons the call. “The silent rule still applies, please. Now, w
here were we?”

I tilt my head and catch sight of my mother. From the way her face is pulled, it looks like she’s having a seizure. Usually, I would be so highly annoyed with the priest, but none of that matters. Not when I have the only thing that matters standing right in front of me.

“Do you take Carter Buffet to be your lawful husband, to have, to hold, from this day on, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to have…" The priest furrows his brows. “No, that’s not it. To love and to cherish… um…”

“Until death do you part,” Carter offers.

“Yes,” our pastor hisses. “I was getting there. Until death do you part?”

I hold onto Carter’s large hands, staring into those deep grays as he patiently waits for my response.

I’ve stood up against some of the largest organizations, I’ve overcome my lifelong hatred of my mom, and I’ve pursued a career despite everyone telling me not to. But this is the biggest decision of my life.

I want to wake up every morning wrapped up in his arms. I want his protection and even the possession that glimmers in his eyes when he tells me that I’m his. I want to be called ‘cupcake’ for the rest of my life, and the little compliments he sneaks whenever he notices the small things like how I’ve done my nails or how pretty I look when I wear a new dress for him.

We have been together for three months now, and this has been the best three months of my life.

This is the biggest decision of my life, but it’s also the easiest. “I do.”

My hand is lost in Carter’s as he slips the ring onto my finger. The diamond on this ring is even bigger than when he proposed to me. The priest smiles at Carter. “You may now kiss the bride.”

“Oooh,” I gasp as Carter pulls me into him, pressing his body against mine. He wraps his muscled arms around me and kisses me like I’ve never been kissed before.

Music sounds, and everyone stands to their feet, cheering us on.

And just like that, I’m Mrs. Britney Buffet.

  Carter

  Two Years Later

Soft lullabies play out of the small CD player set in their bedroom, and I whisper goodnight to the twins, kissing both boys on their foreheads.

Within three minutes of reading them their bedtime story, they were both fast asleep. I tiptoe out of the room, leaving the door slightly ajar. Britney feels they sleep best with a bit of outside light. I suspect she wants it left open so she can keep checking up on them in the middle of the night without a creaking door.

Britney’s waiting for me outside their bedroom. She's so protective over her boys. She insists on standing outside their bedroom every night to make sure they don’t need anything else from Mommy.

“They are fast asleep,” I say.

“Okay, now are you going to tell me what’s going on? The suspense is killing me.”

I narrow my eyes and stick out my lower lip in a playful pout as my hands run down her waist and I step in to her. My wife takes a step back, and I take another forward. We continue our erotic dance until she’s pressed against the wall. Thank God she didn’t lose her sexual appetite after the boys came along. If anything, I think she’s trying to get pregnant again. We both work, take care of the kids and run the house, but still find time for sex at least twice a day.

I lock her in with my arms; she’s right where I want her. Reaching down, I meet her lips, planting a gentle kiss on them before slipping my tongue inside her. My cock is hard as stone, and I thrust my hips into her body, giving her a preview of what’s to come later tonight. God, I hate having to wait to fill up my queen. What I would not do to make her come undone right here on this spot, but I’ll have to wait for later. Not with Britney’s surprise waiting outside in the yard.

I pull back to grab her chin, and shivers run down my spine as her fingers trace along my abs.

“Later, and then I'm all yours," I say. “For now, I’ll need you to follow me, cupcake.”

I pull on her tiny hand, and she follows me as I lead her down the passage of our house. I sold my house, and Britney moved out of her apartment, and we now have our own house. It comes complete with the white little picket fence and everything—our home.

“Carter, what on earth are you up to?” she chuckles.

  “Patience, woman. We’re almost there.”

Our dynasty is set in stone, and together we will make sure our kids get nothing but the best.

I have worked on expanding my security company, and it is now the second largest private security company in the States. I haven’t heard from Gambit since I met and employed Jonathan, who works as my right-hand man. While I’ve focused on my security empire, Britney has been working her ass off to start up her own modeling agency. Her dream is to start a modeling agency that caters to real women, women that aren’t afraid to embrace the curves they have been blessed with.

She has even registered her business under the name ‘Curves by Britney.’

But my cupcake has been faced with some challenges. She has around ten plus-sized models, but her challenge now is finding the business to provide these girls with work. Her entire campaign is driven around girls loving themselves as they are. But she’s still faced with all the ‘big names’ that run the industry and believe a model should look ‘a certain way.’

I pull on her hand and lead Britney out onto the porch. Thankfully it’s not a full moon tonight, so the yard is in total darkness. Britney stares into the night for a few seconds before turning her head to look at me. “Um… okay?”

Suddenly the yard lights up, and thirty people jump up from behind trees and on the sides of the house. “Surprise!”

Britney pulls her hands to her mouth and turns back to me. “Carter, what is this?”

“This is just a little party to celebrate your first big client. The managing director of Aimeri flew in to sign a two-year contract with Curves by Britney for their upcoming range.”

Britney’s shriek escapes into her hands. “You lie!”

  “See for yourself.”

Marc Stevenson from Aimeri steps forward, and Britney's face lights up with recognition.

“Britney,” Marc says with an extended hand. Britney’s still in shock, but her shaky hand accepts his. “We have been following your work for quite some time now, and it has inspired me to create a range of clothes for curvy girls. I was hoping we could discuss a contract to work together for the next two years?”

"I'm… Oh, my God. Yes! I would love that!"

Marc Stevenson is one of her all-time heroes, a legend in the fashion world, as she once put it. Now the man she has looked up to all these years wants to seal a deal with her.

Everyone begins clapping, and the hired DJ pumps up some dance music.

Britney turns to me, her eyes all watery. “Carter… I don’t know what to say.”

I hand my queen a glass of champagne. "You could always say my name once this party's done, and we're alone," I tease.

She punches me playfully in the arm. “No, silly. I mean, yes. God, I cannot wait to get you alone tonight. But I mean, you’re so good to me. You make me feel like I’m the only girl in the world. And…” She takes in a gulp of air. “And sometimes I feel like I don’t deserve a man like you, that I’m not enough for you.”

I pull Britney to me again and wipe the tears rolling down her cheeks.

“Not ‘enough’ for me? Cupcake, you are everything to me.”

Dan, Carter’s brother’s story is up next. You’re in for a bumpy ride of love, lust, action and loads of heat with book three of the ‘His Curvy Craving’ series.

  Afterword

Sometimes, people that are mean to us have been dealing with very similar issues, like Britney’s mom. Sometimes all it takes to begin healing years of hurt is to start that honest conversation.
