The Heat Is On Page 26

by Helen Bridgett

‘I’m sorry I’ve gone and done it again. Some perfect night this turned out to be,’ I say.

‘Oh I don’t know,’ he replies, holding me tightly. ‘There’s an old saying which goes, “…at the end of the day, your feet should be dirty, your hair messy and your eyes sparkling”.’

  I kiss him.

‘Well, if that’s what it takes, I think we might be very happy together.’

  Acknowledgements

My first thanks go to the wonderful team of Clare, Heather, Anna, Julia and Flora at RedDoor Books for making this happen; in particular to Clare for your wise advice on the very first manuscript.

As you’ll have discovered, my heroine is a weeny bit obsessed with Richard Branson so I’d also like to thank him for the words of wisdom used by Angie. The full article can be read at www.virgin.com/entrepreneur/richard-branson-how-deal-competitors

I’d also like to thank Scotland! The Islands and West Coast gave me the treasure trail and it’s simply beautiful. Go there – visit the library in the woods and the most wonderful beaches. It’s truly a place to soothe the soul.

Finally, The Heat is On is all about the power of friendships and I’m lucky to have some fab friends who’ve been incredibly supportive as I’ve been tapping away on this keyboard. You’ve come to and hosted launch events, shared posts, written reviews, sipped the odd glass of bubbly with me and generally made the journey much more fun. Without you all, I wouldn’t have nearly as much material to work with!

And finally, finally thanks again to my family – the whole loud, lovely, lively lot and to Jason, my rock.

Never change – any of you!

  A Letter from the Author

Thank you for choosing The Heat is On, I hope you’ve enjoyed it and that it’s made you smile – I’ve read smiling keeps you young so make sure you do it every day!

If you haven’t had the chance to read The Mercury Travel Club, where Angie and Patty’s story began, then pick up a copy – I’m told it contains more of that youthful smiling material so you’ll probably be ten years younger by the end of it.

Like all authors, I do need to ask a favour now – if you’ve enjoyed the book, would you take a few minutes to put a review on Amazon or Goodreads please? The reviews do make a difference – more so than I ever realised before starting to write. Also, if you fancy dropping me a line or following me, I’m on Twitter – so do get in touch. I’d love to hear from you.

  Keep smiling,

  Helen x
