But "no," she said. "Not that. Not mi vida loca." She leaned down to him, meeting him eye to eye. She wrapped her arms around him, leaned into him and felt his heartbeat, steady and true. "Not mi vida loca. Mi vida bella. My wonderful life. I'll share this wonderful life with you."

"Mi vida bella," he whispered. "Sounds good to me."

He placed a tiny little ring on her finger and it twinkled in the lights.

It was just like something out of the books she'd read on all those long, lonely days when she'd hidden away in the library to escape from the harsh world outside.

A cynical private investigator—and former secret agent—finds himself in the sweet little village of Pajaro Bay, sipping blackberry tea with a hippie chick who raises goats. But when danger arrives in town, he has to figure out if the killers are after him—or the bohemian artist he's falling in love with. Learn more about Riverstone Cottage now.

And be sure to check out Barb's other series, Carita Cove, where we follow Maggie McJasper and her oversized Rough Collie as they make a new start in a little beach town with plenty of secrets—and maybe a chance for romance, too.
