Randolph Nesse, MD, is a cofounder of the field of evolutionary medicine, a new field launched twenty-five years ago with his coauthored book Why We Get Sick, which has sold more than 100,000 copies and been translated into eight languages. He has served on the faculty of the University of Michigan as professor of psychiatry, professor of psychology, and research professor. In 2014 he moved to the University of Arizona, where he currently serves as the founding director of the Center for Evolution and Medicine. He is the current president of the International Society for Evolution, Medicine, and Public Health, and is the editor of The Evolution and Medicine Review.
