“What about your… you know? I got off, but what about you?”
“Don’t worry about me. I’m fine.” On some levels, yes. It would take time to establish a new reality and shake the feeling of wrong-doing. No earnest manipulation of Blake had taken place, and yet he felt terrible. If the thoughts were that toxic now, scrubbing them from his mind wouldn’t be easy.
“Dude, when a girl say she’s fine, do you know how much shit that means you’re in?” Blake lifted a brow. “Why don’t we go get our clothes, but skip class and just be together today? I feel like I have a lot to learn from you… more than anything I could pick up in class. I have this feeling like it’s the right thing to do.”
A new wolf, blind to the world. To deny his request would be more than selfish—it would be dangerous. No matter how poorly he felt about his choices, Kellan had to agree.
The two followed the scent trails they’d left the night before back to their clothes. Blake’s hand migrated from the small of Kellan’s back to curl around his hip possessively. As they dressed the contact was broken, but as soon as they were on the move again, it returned.
The flight back home for winter break couldn’t come soon enough. Until he put some space between himself and his mistake, he’d never clear his mind. What he’d wanted to do had been despicable; Blake deserved far better.
They entered the building together, Kellan’s guilt following them all the way.
Chapter Five
“So what is it that you want to know?”
Blake closed the door as Kellan kicked off his shoes and hung up his coat. He headed across the room to the bed, waiting for Blake to follow.
“What kinds of things can I do to get you off?” Blake asked from the door. He left his shoes and coat there, then approached the bed.
Kellan watched him with suspicion. “You’re not serious. You don’t want to ask about wolf issues?”
“Nope.” Blake sat next to him. “I want to know about you from you. The wolf stuff I can figure out as time goes on. You, though, you’re something else.”
Why was it that he felt so flustered? Kellan blushed and distributed his weight between his thighs, stalling for time. The loss of control was pathetic. How could Blake reduce him to this state so easily? They hardly knew each other.
“Why is it so important to you?” He didn’t want to answer. If Blake wanted to know more, there was an underlying reason why the knowledge was important. He wanted to know what it was before he got too caught up in his guess work.
“I didn’t think I was gay,” Blake said simply, the words flowing without hesitation or fear. “But when I woke up this
morning and you were there, I couldn’t resist you. When you touched me it was like a dam burst. I’ve been with girls before, but I’ve never felt like that. I don’t know if it’s the wolf or what, but I want to have that feeling again, and I want to cause that feeling in you.”
His hand found its way to Kellan’s thigh. Kellan looked down at it, trying to process what was being said.
“It looks like you’ve got some hang ups. I’m new to this world, so I don’t know if what I did was good, or bad, or normal, or what, but what I do know is that it felt right. If I’m the one who made you feel like shit, then you can tell me to get lost, but you can’t blame me for wanting to chase something that makes me feel so good, can you?”
His thumb stroked, but he did not make any other move. Instinct. Blake was chasing his instinct, and his instinct was that they should be together. A swallow. Kellan’s heart was beating as hard as it had been back in the forest. Blake made him weak, and he hated it and loved it all at once.
“What you’re saying is that you want to be with me because it makes you feel complete.”
“Complete is a really good word for it,” Blake agreed. “There’s something more to it than just sex... something that I want to have in my life.”
How was he so upfront about all of this? Kellan was starved for words, mind fogged.
“So tell me what I can do to get you off,” Blake said. “Tell me what kinds of things you like. Tell me what’s on your mind. Just... tell me something. I want to know about you. I want to work things out.”
Blake’s honesty was contagious. Before he knew what he was doing, the words spilled from Kellan’s mouth and wouldn’t stop.
“I’m a bad person,” he said. “The kind of bad person who doesn’t care about anything other than his own happiness. I wouldn’t hesitate to take advantage of a situation for my own gains, even if it made someone else miserable. I had every intention to take advantage of you and force you to be with me. I didn’t think you’d start liking me on your own.”
Even as he spoke, the thumb of Blake’s hand kept caressing his thigh. The power beneath that touch was startling. As a wolf, Kellan was stronger than any human, but there was raw power in Blake that made him feel like he didn’t have to be the strong one anymore.
It was wonderful.
“Someone like you doesn’t want someone like me. Someone like you should have a partner who isn’t rotten from the inside out, who’s honest and trustworthy.”
Blake’s unoccupied hand rose, and he placed a finger against Kellan’s lips to silence him. “Sounds like you’re being pretty honest right now. You haven’t betrayed my trust yet. I think that says a lot more about your character than anything else.”
In that moment, there were many things Kellan wanted to do. Protest, escape, cry… each option fought inside him for dominance, but none of them won out.
“So let me tell you what I see in you,” Blake said. “I see someone who I’m inexplicably attracted to—someone whose touch rivals every girl I’ve ever been with. I see someone who’s smart. Who’s sincere. Who’s honest, even when it hurts. I see someone who’s flawed, but isn’t afraid to own up to their mistakes when it matters. Everyone makes mistakes, Kellan. Big mistakes, sometimes. What sets you apart is how you deal with them.”
The finger parted from his lips, and Blake leaned in so that their faces were close.
“So if you think this is a mistake for me, let me make it on my own. I’ll deal with it in the best way I know how. If you let me, we can deal with our mistakes together. We can grow and learn together. I’ve never felt a pull towards someone like I feel when I’m with you, and I know, without a doubt, that it would be a big mistake on my part to let you go without a fight. I want you.”
There was no need to entrap Blake when the man inside of him followed instinct as blindly as his wolf did. Kellan closed his eyes to compose himself, and when he opened them again, he did so having made a decision.
“And I want you,” Kellan whispered. He closed the distance between them, allowing their lips to brush once more. Blake’s stubble scratched at his chin.
The weight he’d burdened himself with was lifted. The worry had vanished.
They would mate.
Whatever consequences the union resulted in would be dealt with later. Their souls longed for one another.
The kiss grew heated. Blake’s firm hand gripped Kellan’s shoulder and pushed him onto the mattress. Blake followed, pinning him in place. The long walk back had given him the time he needed to recover after his last orgasm, and Kellan felt his growing need pressed between them. Kellan couldn’t get enough of that feeling. His earlier arousal returned with full force now that he was back in Blake’s arms.
“Take me,” Kellan whispered into their kiss. “Mate with me. I’m yours.”
Blake’s sole reply was a low, possessive growl. His hands wandered downward, opening the fly of Kellan’s pants. The button popped open, the zipper descended, and Blake wasted no time slipping his hand into the freshly made space. He worked his palm over Kellan’s bulge, and Kellan pressed into his hand desperately, needing more.
There was no hesitation on Blake’s part as he stripped Kellan of his clothes. Kellan helped him where he could, lifting his hips or kicking off clothing that exceeded Blake’s reach, but for the
most part, he let Blake take control. Naked, Kellan parted his thighs, and Blake crawled his way up until they were lip to lip again.
“Lube,” Kellan moaned into Blake’s mouth. A bottle of it had been on the bedside table, used the night before. Kellan scrambled to grab it. He coated his fingers, wiggling into a position where he could prepare his hole. One digit filled him, then a second. Soon Blake’s cock would take their place—the fantasy had come to life.
While he worked his fingers in and out, Blake watched, lips parted. The look on his face only made Kellan harder, and he pushed down onto his hand as he slipped another finger inside. Blake was breathing hard, clearly aroused, a hand on his aching cock. Kellan used the opportunity to drizzle some of the lube onto his shaft, and Blake slowly worked it over his himself.
The bottle sealed, Kellan worked his way into a sitting position, then rose to his knees. When he went down again, this time his ass was in the air. Blake Mathys was about to claim him as his mate. The lowly black wolf would be his partner. This kind of heated excitement—this joy of discovery and danger—would be theirs to share. Kellan pressed his cheek into the pillow, one hand working over his erection as the head of Blake’s cock pushed at his entrance.
It wouldn’t be long now.
Heavy breathing turned to a sharp cry of delight. The thin walls offered no privacy, and if anyone was home next door, they’d hear everything. But, try as he might, Kellan couldn’t hold himself back. Blake broke into him, plunging deep. Instincts threatened to overwhelm him—Blake’s movements were strained, and he trembled as he tried to move slowly.
Kellan hoped he wouldn’t resist for long.
The pain of penetration faded quickly, buffered by months of longing. The cock he’d idolized, the large hands he’d imagined clutching his hips, were his now. Already, Kellan’s body threatened to betray him, his balls tight and his stomach clenched.
Not yet.
They’d only just started.
Hot, flashing pleasure burst through him as Blake’s cock rammed against his prostate—the beast had won. Kellan cried out again, working his ass back against his partner in a desperate bid to recreate the feeling. But try as he might to bury Blake’s cock deep, his thrusts were too erratic. All Kellan could do was let Blake take him. The beast had won, and it was making Kellan his.
A low grunt marked Blake’s release. His fingernails dug into Kellan’s sides, and he thrust inward with urgency, holding Kellan in place.Warm cum pooled inside of him, marking him as Blake’s. The mating was complete—he’d let himself be filled by a handsome, dangerous, kind-hearted beast of a man.
Kellan let go.
His own seed shot onto the bed as he came. The shaking arm that had been lifted so he could stroke himself fell. Had Blake not been holding him so firmly, Kellan would have toppled onto the bed, spent.
The lust they’d shared dissolved into sweetness. The mattress dipped behind Kellan, and he felt Blake settle down beside him. In the next moment, Blake drew him into his arms and held him close. “Was that okay?” he asked in a low, gruff voice. The wolf still lurked in it, and had Kellan not been entirely drained, he would have found it arousing.
Perhaps he could revisit the thought later.
“It was my first time with a guy, and... well, it felt good for me.”
“It was fantastic. You keep doing that, exactly that, and we’ll never have any problems.” He closed his eyes, settling down amongst the warmth of the blankets.
Blake rolled him over and claimed Kellan’s lips. The kiss they shared was exhausted and hollow compared to those they’d shared previously, but the touch still made Kellan glow.
“Hand me my phone, Blake,” Kellan asked softly when their kiss came to its conclusion. “It’s in the pocket of my jeans.”
There was a call he had to make, and he had to make it now before his courage fled.
Blake rolled over and reached down to the heap of their discarded clothing, locating the device. Kellan dialed, still feeling as though he’d just awoken from a particularly wonderful night’s sleep.
“Mother?” Kellan asked. Blake curled back into bed beside him and drew him close. Those gorgeous blue eyes closed, and he settled in to relax next to his mate. “It’s Kellan. I’ll be flying home on the nineteenth. Don’t bother contacting Mrs. Seltz—I’ve recently chosen my mate, and he will be returning with me over the break.”
Blake cracked open an eye. He grinned. When the call ended he pried the phone from Kellan’s fingers and set it on the bedside table.
“Is that what we are now? Mates?” he asked.
“That’s what I see in you,” Kellan answered back, allowing himself to smile in return. Transparency was new, but it felt wonderful. “You told me that losing me would be a mistake. Well… I’m not going to let you get away so easily, either.”
There would be mistakes to come, but they would handle them together. With Blake, anything seemed possible.
Even a fresh start.
