Then, the screen jumped again. “I don’t really want to be watching my clones taking that sick pervert.”
I shrugged. “Me neither.” I glanced at the screen and made out the two silhouettes scurrying in the breeding center. “Zoom in!” The footage enlarged and I realized with a wicked smile they were Arman and Marcy. They must be on their way to get Jacey.
“They are trying to escape! We have to stop them,” cried Damaris.
“Why do you want to stop them? They are useless to us.”
“That’s true.”
Another naughty thought sprang into my head. I couldn’t help grinning sheepishly to myself. “But there’s something else I need to do before they leave.”
Damaris arched his brow at me.

“Ayana!” Zand’s face lit up when he saw Damaris and I diffused through the wall of the Luna Nova Breeding Center. My heart skipped thinking Damaris might combust in the sun, but when he just breezed in Zand’s direction, I let out a relieved sigh. “Oh my goodness, Ayana, I am so glad you are safe!”
Zand wasn’t the only one turned head when we walked out. There were at least twenty prisoners with him. Zand was holding onto someone. Hand in hand. My eyes followed their arms. When my gaze fell on a familiar face, a smile curved my lips. There wasn’t a drop of envy in me. Only pure happiness. Zand deserved his own happiness. Even if it wasn’t me.
“Kat!” I cried out.
Kat’s eyes turned glassy as she threw her arms around me and squeezed me tightly. “Oh my god, Ayana! You are such a warrior! I was so worried about you!” I closed my eyes and drank in the feel of being in her embrace.
No one said anything. It felt like I got back in time to high school where my best friends would always have my back no matter what. You felt like you could take on the world when your besties were with you.
“Kat, there’s something I need to tell you,” I said, pulling away. “You are my first adult best friend…” I shrugged. “Thank you for being there for me.”
Kat’s eyes turned pink. Her lips trembled when she said, “Me too, Ayana…I mean, people around me treated me like shit. It’s a dog eat dog world and I thought there wasn’t any hope in the world left…and then I met you. It changed my mind forever. I now believe there is still goodness in the world.”
I wanted to say something when the breaking sound barrier blast boomed in the air. All heads turned in the direction where the Beastship took off and shot in the air.
Zand glared up at the Beastship as he clenched his fists. “Damnit! Those bastards got away!”
“Not so soon!” Another voice came from behind me. I turned around and was met eye to eye with a pregnant Lunatic holding my baby. I immediately recognized she was the promoter from the Luna Nova Space Traveling Center. “Ezekil!” I cried out and cradled my baby in my arms. “Thank you so much.” All eyes were on me as I kissed my baby. Damaris wrapped his arms around me. “I told you I won’t let anything happen to us.”
“I have been entrusted by Commander Damaris to keep your child safe,” said the pregnant Lunatic. Her round belly looked bigger now from the last time I saw her. Seven years of gestation. I wouldn’t have the patience.
She dipped her hand into her pocket and held up some screws in her palm. “As you have requested, Ayana, I have also removed the essential screws from the Beastship. The Beastship will disintegrate within seconds–”
A loud explosion burst in the sky, making all of us bend over and throw our arms over our heads. I cradled tightly onto Ezekil. I looked up at the gray cloud mushroomed in the sky and a smile split my face.
