Risky (Unexpected Lovers Book 4) Page 13

by JB Heller

A svelte woman in her mid-twenties gestures me forward when I approach the reception desk. “What can I do for you, sir?”

I point over my shoulder at Tia’s retreating form still clad in her wedding dress then tell the chick, “I just got married. I’m going to need something special for me and my new wife. What have you got?”

She beams at me. “Congratulations! I have several suites available that might suit you.” She goes on to rattle off four different options, listing each of their features.

I pick one at random then hand over another of my credit cards to process the payment. Once I have the directions and our keycards, I go in search of my wife.

These prices are insane. Who would pay almost three hundred dollars for a G-string?

I had the bright idea to get myself some sexy wedding night lingerie, but I don’t think I can do it.

A sales assistant approaches, her gaze sweeping over my gown as she asks, “May I help you with anything?”

“Uh, no. I don’t think so,” I tell her, placing the ridiculously overpriced underwear back on the rack. For three hundred bucks, I’d expect it to have been handmade by blind nuns in a French convent then blessed by the pope himself.

I turn to leave the store just as Bates enters, a seductive smirk on his stupidly handsome face. “Did you get something?” he asks in a husky purr.

Lord, help me. My insides clench at the way his eyes rake over my body as he closes the distance between us. “Umm, no. I didn’t like anything.”

“Liar,” he growls into my ear. “I saw you pick up the black lace thong, babe. You’ll look fuck-hot it in, especially when I’m dragging it down your thighs with my teeth.”

I swallow. Is it hot in here? I think the air conditioning must have just gone on the fritz.

He tips my chin up until our gazes lock. “Tell me your sizes then go wait outside,” he instructs.

  “Eight and thirty-six D,” I mumble.

“Good girl,” he praises then motions to the entryway with his chin. “I’ll be out in a minute.”

I do as I’m told without looking back. I don’t want to know what he’s buying or how much it costs.

Ten minutes later, he exits the boutique with a small black bag in hand. He takes mine with his free one and leads me to another store—this one with regular clothing. We each grab a pair of basic jeans and T-shirts, then we’re heading for the elevator bank on the far side of the lobby.

Once we reach our floor, Bates swings me up into his arms and carries me to our door. He swipes the keycard over the scanner and unlatches the door with ease, all while still holding me securely to his chest. Then, he crosses the threshold.

This room is just as extravagant as our other one, but the view is different. Bates walks me straight to the bed where he lowers me to the mattress and tosses our shopping bags to the side. “Tonight,” he murmurs softly against my lips. “I’m going to make love to my wife. Then, I’m going to fuck her five ways to Sunday.”

A shiver races through my body, and I wrap my arms around his shoulders. “I like that plan.”

“Good,” he says, smirking. “But first, I’m going to peel you out of this dress, and you’re going to put on your new lingerie for me.” He pushes off the bed then offers me a hand.

Reluctantly, I take it. He spins me around so that my back is to his front, then he takes his sweet time dragging the zipper of my gown down my spine. When he’s done, I accept the little black bag from him then shut myself in the bathroom.

Once inside, I let my dress fall to the floor, then I step out of it and pick it up, laying it over one of the towel racks. I take a deep breath then tip the contents of the bag on the vanity, immediately noticing all the price tags have been removed. A smile tugs at my lips as I finger the delicate lace of a sexy little ivory teddy with a matching thong.

I change quickly, eager to show my husband just how much I appreciate his gift. When I open the bathroom door, Bates is standing by the massive glass window, cradling a tumbler of amber liquid. He turns at the sound of my approach, his gaze heating my skin as he devours every inch of me.

“You like it?” I ask, doing a little spin to show him the whole outfit.

He nods then places his drink on a sideboard and stalks toward me with purpose. I back up until the backs of my knees hit the bed, and I sit on the edge. Bates pauses in front of me, his eyes on fire as he cups my jaw and tips my head back.

“Fuck, you’re perfect,” he growls then takes my mouth in a sweltering kiss that steals my breath.

I moan against his lips as my fingers get to work on his belt buckle then his trousers. I tug them down his muscular thighs along with his boxer briefs, needing him naked as soon as possible. He picks up on my desperation, unfastening the buttons of his shirt then tossing it to the side.

“I need inside you, right fucking now,” he growls, gently shoving me back onto the mattress. I shuffle up between the pillows as he rifles through his pants pocket then presents a condom.

He tears it open, sheaths his hard length, then climbs onto the bed with me. His large, rough palms slide up the insides of my parted thighs, spreading them farther apart as he settles between them and lowers himself to hover over me. I arch my neck, offering him my mouth, and he takes it, swiping his tongue against mine.

He pushes inside of me, and it feels so good. All coherent thoughts evaporate, and all I can do is feel. My nails rake down his back as he thrusts in and out of my body with every torturously slow roll of his hips, his lips peppering my neck and face with delicate kisses.

“Bates,” I plead. “More. I need more.”

He lifts his head, grinning at me. “That’s my girl,” he says.

Brushing his lips over mine, our tongues tangle, and he increases his pace, thrusting into me faster and faster. He sits back, takes my wrists in his hands, and pins them above my head as he draws his hips back then plunges forward with a punishing intensity that has me seeing stars.

My back bows, and I cry out, “Yes, oh Lord, yes!”

Releasing one of my wrists, he drops a hand between our bodies and circles my clit over and over, prolonging my orgasm. My entire body tenses, clenching around him, and he comes with my name on his lips.

  One Week Later…

“Dude, why aren’t you nervous? You’re getting married today,” Arch says with a raised brow. “You’re not freaking out at all, and it’s weirding me the fuck out.”

I grin as I shrug my tux jacket into place. “What have I got to be nervous about?”

My bestie’s eyes widen comically, and he gapes at me. “Who are you, and what have you done with my commitment-phobe best friend?

Tia and I haven’t told anyone that we’re already married. When we returned to the hotel we were supposed to be staying at in Vegas last week, we explained to everyone that we just wanted a night alone, and they bought it.

Today is about everybody except us. And that’s okay, because we had our day, and it was perfect. There’s nothing I would change about our real wedding. Not one damn thing.

“Okay, boys, it’s show time,” Dax says, clapping his hands to gain our attention. “You ready to marry my baby sister, cabrón?”

I nod and try to maintain a serious expression, but it’s really fucking hard.

Dax narrows his eyes at me. “You better not be having second thoughts, or I’ll have to kick your ass.”

“Yeah, you could try.” I scoff. “I’ve got a good sixty pounds of muscle on you. But there’s no need to get your panties in a wad. I’m not going anywhere—at least, not without your sister.”

That seems to placate him, and he nods then slaps me on the back as I stride past him on my way out to the pool deck where our fake wedding ceremony is being held. A huge circular arch covered in lush greenery and fresh flowers is positioned right along the edge of the deck where the river serves as a tranquil backdrop.

It’s cold as fuck out here, and I’m grateful for the large gas heaters tha
t are set up on either side of the short aisle created by several rows of chairs where our closest friends and family are seated. I clasp my hands together in front of me as I await my bride. Arch stands beside me and Atticus beside him.

The string quartet plays the opening notes of “Perfect” by Coldplay, and I lift my head as my sister walks down the aisle, joining Archer at my side. Next is Danika, then Adley. They each take their place, and I hold my breath as Tia steps into view, her brother at her side.

Nothing will ever be more beautiful to me than she was on our secret wedding day, but today, she comes pretty damn close. The bottom flows from her waist in layer upon layer of thin, wispy fabric similar to her Vegas gown. But the top half is made from an intricate lace that encases the entire length of her arms to a delicate point where it loops around her middle fingers.

Her hair is wrapped around her head in a loose crown of sorts with tendrils falling around her stunning face and slender neck. I can’t take my eyes off her as Dax hands her over to me then goes to join Adley and the rest of our bridal party.

Everything else fades into the distance, and it’s just me and her.

Nothing else will ever mean as much to me as she does.

  Six Months Later…

“Babe, you seen the charger cable for my cell? I thought I left it plugged in next to the bed, but I can’t find it,” Bates calls from our bedroom where he’s packing his duffel for a series of away games.

My gaze goes straight to Vinnie, who’s sitting on top of his play center, chewing on what I thought was a long piece of twine he’d pulled from one of his many toys. I glare at him as I stalk over. “Vinnie, did you steal Bates’s charger again?”

He lifts his head and gives me an unimpressed oh please look then continues chewing away, spitting pieces on the ground as he goes.

“Hand it over,” I demand, reaching for what I can now clearly see is not a length of twine.

“No! Mine!” he squawks, running away from me.

“Vinnie,” I growl. “Spit it out right now!”

He fluffs his feathers then turns his back to me and continues chewing the cord into tiny little pieces.

His relationship with Bates has somewhat improved since I moved him in here with us. He’s got a lot more room to roam around and play, but that also means he can get into a lot more things—particularly Bates’s things. But at least he’s stopped trying to eat Bates’s face off. That’s progress, if you ask me.

Yesterday, I walked into our bedroom to find Vinnie chewing holes in all Bates’s underwear. I’m not even sure how he got the drawer open, but nothing surprises me anymore.

Luckily, I am prepared for instances such as this one, though, and I have a box with spare cords, because this is not the first charger Vinnie has destroyed. And it won’t be the last. Just as I pull a new one from my stash, Bates comes strolling along the hall with his duffel thrown over his shoulder.

“The little green bastard ate it again, didn’t he?” he says, accepting the new one from me.

I scoff. “Uh, no. Vinnie would never eat electrical wire. He just chews it into tiny pieces and throws them around like confetti.”

Bates shakes his head, but I catch the hint of a smile on his lips. He stuffs the cord into his bag then curls his hand around the back of my neck, dragging me in for a kiss. “Love you, princess.”

“I love you too, mi alma,” I tell him, kissing him one more time before he leaves for the next five days. His team is doing really well this season. So much so that if they keep it up, they’ll have a shot at the World Series.

“I’ll call you when we land,” he promises, then with a squeeze of my butt, he’s out the door.

I watch him go with a contented smile on my face and a full, happy heart.
