When Life Gives You Lemons Page 4

by Ashlynn Elliott

“Sissy?” Izzy babbled to Gina. “It’s hot!”

“I know.” Gina moaned, “And it’s all my fault!”

“No it’s not!” Lea growled, “It’s Selena and Nikki’s fault!”

Nikki glared at Lea. “No, it IS Gina’s fault!” She yelled. “SHE made the nice potion!”

“Potion?” Lea gasped. “So it IS Gina’s fault?”

“YES!” Nikki growled in aggravation. Gina sobbed in shame.

I wanted to cry out, It’s my fault! Don’t blame Gina! But as you already know, I couldn’t. But then…

  BOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could have sworn the volcano was erupting, and that I was going to get blown away by the explosion. As soon as I heard the rumble, as quickly as I could, I blocked by head with my arms and braced for impact. But, to my surprise, there was no impact.

I looked up to see three fairies, floating above me. They must have made the explosion, because there was a humongous hole in the left side of the volcano.

“SAVE US! HELP! PLEASE! THIS GIRL HAS GONE MAD!!!!!!!” Gina, Lea, Nikki, and Izzy screamed at the top of their lungs to the three hovering fairies.

“NO!!!” I yelled. With my new lava powers, I waved my arms, and a ball of lava lifted from the volcano and launched straight toward the first fairy.

She shrieked in terror and waved her hands. The lava ball automatically cooled into a ball of rock, and had small ice crystals surrounding it. Ice powers. Figures.

Then, I tried to get the second girl. I tried using my earth powers. I created an avalanche of rocks above her. The hard boulders collapsed, but then, the girl flipped her finger, and they stopped falling. They just hung in the air. Then, she flipped her finger again, the rocks turned in my direction, and swung at me. I ducked just in time. She has telekinesis. How ironic.

I decided to use my original powers, nature, on the last girl, who didn’t appear to have wings. I stretched out my hands, and vines grew from the side of the volcano. The vines wrapped around her. I had her now!

But then, she grabbed the vines and ripped them in half. That’s when I noticed a small, black belt wrapped around the side of her waist. Martial arts talent. I’ve never heard of that one.

The girl ran at me as if she was ready to punch my face off. Which she was. The last thing I remembered of that moment was watching the fist hit my face, then I blacked out.

  Chapter 18:

  Returning to Normal…. Almost

  By: Gina Smith

I thought we were doomed. But then, the unexpected happened. I bet you will never guess who those three fairies were!

They were KATE, ELLA, and BETH!!!! They saved us! I didn’t understand why, after I had been so rude to them.

After Beth knocked Selena out, Kate, with her new wings, flew over to us and opened the cage. Ella and Kate lifted us out and flew us to safety.

Once we were back inside, Nikki put unconscious Selena on the sofa. “What are we going to do?” Lea cried.

“Don’t worry; I have an antidote to the potion.” Nikki sighed.

“It’s going to work on all of them, right?” I asked.

“Um...no. It’ll only work on the nice potion.” Nikki smiled. “Who’s going to take away the volcano if no one has earth powers?”

She pulled another potion out of the cabinet and poured it down Selena’s throat. Selena quickly woke up. We all jumped back in terror.

Selena cocked her head in confusion. “What happened?” She wearily asked.

“You tried dropping us in a volcano.” Lea snorted.

“And you were a big fat meanie monster!!!” Izzy giggled.

“And I kicked your butt.” Beth sassily added.

“Oh,” Selena sighed. “Sorry. I couldn’t control it.”

“I know.” Nikki moaned. “Just next time, let me know before you drink any of my potions.”

  “Sure.” Selena smiled.

After a little while, Beth, Ella, and Kate, motioned me to come into the back room with them. I followed.

“What?” I asked once we got into the room.

“EXPLAIN EVERYTHING.” They all shouted at the same time.

I nervously laughed. “It would help if you explained first.” I giggled, glancing at my two best friends, plus Beth.

Beth smugly smiled. “Well, when I got home from your lousy lemonade stand this morning, Ella decided to trip me.”

Ella giggled. “Well you called me ‘too smart’!”

Beth rolled her eyes. “So, I decided to kick her back. But when I kicked her, it was way more powerful than I had ever kicked before. She of course screamed like a little baby.”

Ella sighed. “I decided to try to slap her back, but the moment I flapped my hands, Beth went flying across the street.”

Kate smiled. “Ella ran after her, but I yanked the back of her shirt to stop her from hitting Beth again. But when I pulled it, big, silver wings popped out! It was amazing!” She cried.

“That’s when we realized we were fairies!” Ella squealed. “I had telekinesis powers, and Beth had Martial Arts powers!”

“We ran home, trying out our new powers.” Beth smiled.

“But then, I started getting jealous that I didn’t have any.” Kate pouted. “They made fun of me because I didn’t. I got so mad, I yelled as loud as I could for them to stop, but all of a sudden, there was ice everywhere! I had ice powers!” She cried.

“So then, we played around with the powers for the rest of the afternoon. Then, one of them decided that we should be super heroes.” Beth groaned.

“That was my idea!” Kate squealed. “Then, we went flying around town to find a crime, that’s when we found the volcano! And, um, well, you know what happens next.” We all laughed.

“Now, you explain what happened on your side.” Beth said as they all glared at me.

I bit my lip. “Um...well… it’s a little complicated. Maybe I should write it out. But wait! I still don’t know why Selena did this! Maybe she could help me tell the story!” I exclaimed.

“I could definitely help!” A muffled voice from behind the door laughed. It took me a few seconds to realize Selena, Nikki, Lea, and Izzy were eavesdropping on our private conversations.

“Alright, Selena. Let’s get started.” I opened the door. Selena eagerly smiled and we took off up the stairs. We took out a bunch of paper and began each writing our parts of the story.

Now, I can’t exactly tell you what happens with the book. Why? Because guess what? You’re almost done reading it.

  Chapter 19:

  The Next morning….

  By: Gina Smith

I got up the next morning to hear loud music coming from Izzy’s room. “What’s all the noise about, Izzy?” I shouted.

“Look at me!” She cried as I opened the door.

She was floating around with bright pink wings, dancing around the room. It took me a second to realize what was going on.

It was the day after her fifth birthday. She had wings. She was dancing. That meant she had dancing talents. Which meant she could have whatever power she wanted.

  Uh, oh.

  Epilogue

  By: Gina Smith

Well, you’re about done reading our story, but I have two more things to say. One, Beth and I did make up, and now we are better friends than ever.

Two, is the moral of this story:

  When Life Gives You Lemons….

DON’T (I mean it) MAKE LEMONADE!!!!

Unless you want to end up how I did. In a volcano. Which was pretty scary, by the way.

Wait a second… when life gives you lemons, what do you make?

  Lemon Bars?

  Credits
