Angelique spins her face around, having eye contact with Tyler and says to him, ‘I want you to meet my mother. Will you do it for me please?’

‘All right, I’ll do it,’ says Tyler.

Angelique smiles and says, ‘Thank you.’ Then, she kisses him. Then, Angelique leaves Tyler, stands up, and walks to the bathroom to take a shower while Tyler is still sitting on the couch, sipping a glass of red wine. He puts the empty glass on the coffee table and thinks about what is going to happen to his life.

Later that night at Tyler’s apartment block in the bathroom after Tyler finishes having a shower, he opens one of the St John’s Wort tablets, swallows the tablet and says to himself, ‘Aaahhhh.’

Leaving the bathroom he arrives at this bedroom and sees Angelique sleeping covered by the sheet so he walks to his bed, hops in the bed, and pulls the sheet and covers over himself and Angelique.

he next morning at the swimming pool, Tyler is swimming and everything is alright for him. After he finishes swimming, he leaves the swimming pool. Then Peter arrives with the CLASSIFIED page of the newspaper in his hand and says to Tyler, ‘G’day Tyler, how are you?’

  ‘Just fine,’ replies Tyler.

  ‘Everything alright?’ asks Peter.

‘Yes, just swimming quietly again but I’m not sure how many people are here in this pool because it’s autumn,’ replies Tyler.

‘Mmm, have to check the weather update one day,’ says Peter.

‘So, what’s on the news, Peter?’ asks Tyler.

‘I got the classified section of a newspaper and there’s the death notice about Alan. Would you like to read it?’ replies Peter and he gives the CLASSIFIED section to Tyler and then, Tyler reads it. He see the death notice and it says, ‘Nuts, Alan. Goodbye, my boy. We’re all going to miss you – The Nuts Family.’ He is devastated and says, ‘That’s sad but is Nuts Alan’s surname?’

  ‘Yes it is,’ replies Peter.

‘How many different surnames are there?’ asks Tyler.

‘Well, surnames come from slang, catchphrases, characters or others like fruit,’ replies Peter.

‘Oh, rubbish!’ says Tyler, then he gives the CLASSIFIED section back to Peter. ‘All the surnames are weird. That’s crazy!’

  ‘Are you nuts?’ asks Peter.

‘No, it’s serious. It’s only an issue, just like people who have weird and strange surnames,’ replies Tyler.

‘Oh, I get it!’ says Peter. ‘I’m so sorry.’

‘Nah, that’s okay,’ says Tyler. ‘We’re still friends, okay?’

‘All right, we’re still mates,’ says Peter. ‘What are you going to do today? Are you still working with Angelique on the wedding?’

‘Well, Angelique wants me to meet her mother at the Alfred Hospital today,’ replies Tyler.

  ‘Why?’ asks Peter.

‘Because this is how I have to meet the future in-laws. You know, just like Meet The Parents and other movies and TV shows,’ replies Tyler.

‘Does Angelique’s mother want to come to your wedding?’ asks Peter.

‘No,’ replies Tyler. ‘Angelique and I will talk to the doctor about her heart and how her health is going after having a heart attack.’

‘All right, it’s up to you but hope she’s better soon,’ says Peter.

‘Okay, I’ll call you next time because we must consider the verdict,’ says Tyler. ‘See you soon, goodbye.’ And then, Tyler walks away from Peter because it’s a race against time with Angelique’s mother, but he still doesn’t know the result of who wears the mysterious coat.

At the Alfred Hospital, Tyler and Angelique arrive and walk to the reception desk. Angelique says, ‘Hi I would like to see my mother please.’

‘Sure, what do you want to see your mother about?’ asks the receptionist with her nurse’s uniform.

‘It’s about my fiancée Tyler Brown. I want to introduce him to my mother,’ replies Angelique.

‘Okay, will be a tick,’ says the receptionist and then, she stands up, and walks to the doctor but Angelique turns around and asks Tyler, ‘Are you nervous about meeting my mother?’

‘Yes,’ replies Tyler. ‘How old is your mother?’

  ‘Fifty-five,’ replies Angelique.

‘Fifty-five, that’s not bad,’ says Tyler.

‘I’m not sure if she has got a little health scare or a major heart scare.’

‘Hey, don’t worry about it,’ says Tyler. ‘I want you to feel happy, okay?’ ‘Okay,’ says Angelique.

The receptionist arrives with a doctor, Dr John Chasey, who is in his late thirties, tall, dark, handsome and wearing a doctor’s uniform. The receptionist says to Tyler and Angelique, ‘Excuse me, everybody. I would like to introduce Dr John Chasey.’

  ‘Hello, everybody,’ says Dr Chasey.

‘Hello, Doctor,’ says both Tyler and Angelique.

‘Dr Chasey will take you and Tyler to your mother’s room,’ the receptionist says to Angelique.

  ‘Thank you,’ says Angelique.

‘Which room is your mother in?’ Tyler asks Angelique.

‘She’s in Room 302. I told you before,’ says Angelique.

Tyler and Angelique follow Dr Chasey to Room 302 where Angelique’s mother Margaret is.

At Room 302 of the Alfred Hospital, Margaret is in a hospital bed and next to her bed is a small cupboard and a cardiac monitor. Margaret is middle-aged and she has grey hair but she is sick and she is facing death. There is a knock on the door and she says, ‘Come in.’

The door opens and when Tyler and Angelique enter, Dr Chasey says to them, ‘If you excuse me for a moment, I better talk to a group of surgeons about this patient. I’ll be back in just a moment.’ He shuts the door. Tyler and Angelique walk to Margaret in bed and Angelique introduces Tyler to Margaret as she says to her mother, ‘Hi, Mum. I would like to introduce you to my fiancée, Tyler Brown.’

  ‘Hello, Margaret,’ says Tyler.

  ‘Hello, Tyler,’ says Margaret.

‘Tyler and I are going to get married soon,’ says Angelique.

‘Oh, how wonderful is that,’ says Margaret. ‘May I speak to Tyler please?’

‘Sure, Mum,’ says Angelique. ‘Go for it.’ She walks out to the wall and stands near the door while Tyler walks to the chair and sits down.

‘You look so handsome, Tyler,’ says Margaret.

‘Thanks,’ says Tyler. ‘Some people think I look like Bruce Barry.’

‘So tell me, how did you meet my daughter?’ asks Margaret.

‘Well, I was working at the Duke of York Hotel. I’ve been working as a staff member for about ten or eleven years and when I arrived at work, I saw your daughter who is the most stunning woman I have ever seen and I didn’t know how to approach her at the bar so I didn’t meet her until I visited Dave’s Restaurant for dinner and when I was having a meal, I saw her again and I asked her to join me so she said “Yes” and that’s how I met your daughter for the first time,’ replies Tyler.

Margaret is shocked and says, ‘Oh my!’

‘Are you all right, Margaret?’ asks Tyler.

‘Sorry, Tyler. I was just a bit shocked,’ replies Margaret. ‘So do you love my daughter?’

‘Yes,’ replies Tyler. ‘I’m in love with your daughter and I’ll look after her. I have a good time with her. We go out for dinner, go to the flicks, and have walks on the beach, as well as spending time shopping.’

‘Tyler, I had a chat with her about how she’s staying at your apartment block when she visited me at the Alfred Hospital two days ago. Why did you invite her to stay at your apartment block?’ says Margaret.

‘Well, Margaret,’ replies Tyler. ‘Because I’m having a stressful time about the mysterious coat so I invited her to stay at my flat. Angelique and I skipped work at the Duke of York hotel for the rest of the days as I was waiting for the surprise.’

‘So who wears this coat?’ asks Margaret.

It’s a mysterious person and I don’t know who it is,’ replies Tyler.

‘Tyler, I heard the news about you nearly being taken hostage at this person’s secret hideout and I was a bit worried about you nearly dying,’ says Margaret.

  ‘I’m sorry?’ asks Tyler.

  ‘Nearly dying,’ replies Margaret.

‘Oh, absolutely not!’ says Tyler. ‘I was checking the secret hideout and there was an arsenal of weapons there and before that mysterious person arrived, I ducked, crawled and hid but when that person arrived, he locked the door and later, the police inspector rescued me and after that, we left and that mysterious person was arrested and later, I had post-traumatic stress disorder because of my trauma at the secret hideout.’

‘Oh, you poor thing,’ says Margaret.

‘Yes, it’s a pity,’ says Tyler. ‘I wish I could get away from all this bad news.’

‘So are you feeling better now?’ asks Margaret.

  ‘Sort of,’ replies Tyler.

‘Are you still looking after my daughter?’ asks Margaret.

  ‘Yes,’ replies Tyler.

‘Is there anything I can do for you?’ asks Margaret.

‘Well, okay. See how you’re going and I want you to feel better.

I don’t want to be threatened again just like the secret hideout incident and I don’t wanna be crazy,’ replies Tyler.

‘All right, take care of yourself and my daughter. If I’m going to live, I’ll see you at the wedding, okay?’ says Margaret.

‘Yes, Margaret,’ says Tyler, so he stands up from his chair and Margaret says to him, ‘Oh, by the way. Good luck with the coat.’

‘Thank you, Margaret. It’s nice to meet you and I’ll see you soon, if you’re still alive, but I don’t want you die,’ says Tyler and then, he turns into tears when he takes a long pause but Angelique walks in and tries to cheer Tyler up. Tyler says to Margaret, ‘Goodbye, Margaret,’ and then, they walk to the door but Angelique spins around and says to Margaret, ‘Goodbye, Mum.’

‘Goodbye, Angelique,’ says Margaret. ‘Be careful.’

Tyler and Angelique leave and Tyler takes a handkerchief out of his pocket, wipes the tears from his eyes and puts the handkerchief back in his pocket but Angelique asks him, ‘Are you all right?’

‘I’m worried about your mother,’ replies Tyler.

  ‘Me too,’ says Angelique.

‘But I don’t know what I’m going to do now,’ says Tyler.

‘Cheer up, Tyler,’ says Angelique. ‘Don’t worry. Come on, Tyler.

Let’s go to the waiting room because we’re waiting for Dr Chasey to make an announcement about my mother.’

She and Tyler walk to the hallway to wait for the news about Margaret from Dr Chasey.

Later, Tyler and Angelique are sitting together in the waiting room and Dr Chasey arrives with serious news and says to Angelique, ‘Darling, I’m afraid we’re going to perform heart surgery on your mother tomorrow.’

  ‘What?’ asks Angelique.

‘We had to choose which heart surgery would be the best for your mother, whether it could be open heart surgery, bypass surgery, double or triple but we’ll see,’ replies Dr Chasey.

‘Well, that’s not fair!’ says Angelique. ‘What are you going to do with my mother tomorrow?’

‘Look, honey, we’ve got to bring a group of surgeons in to perform heart surgery for your mother in the morning. The operation will start at about nine o’ clock or half past nine because we’ve got to a race against time before she could die,’ says Dr Chasey.

Tyler frowns, stand up from the chair, grabs Dr Chasey’s doctor uniform collar, pulls Chasey face to his face, and says,

‘Listen, Doctor! I want Margaret to attend me and my fiancée’s wedding right now!’ Tyler is feeling as mad as hell.

‘Um, when’s your wedding?’ asks Dr Chasey.

  ‘Soon,’ replies Tyler.

‘All right, if Margaret is alive and feeling better after the surgery, we’ll give her medication but please, don’t threaten me,’ says Dr Chasey.

‘Okay and please, keep your hands off my fiancée and don’t call her darling or honey, you fool!’ says Tyler.

‘All right, I’m sorry but I’m a married man, for heaven’s sake!’ says Dr Chasey. Tyler stops grabbing Dr Chasey’s doctor uniform collar as Chasey stands back from Tyler. Chasey says to Angelique, ‘Don’t worry, we’ll save your mother from dying as soon as possible. Meet me at the hospital tomorrow, goodbye.’ Then, Dr Chasey leaves.

Angelique stand up, walks to Tyler and says to him as she tries to cheer him up, ‘Don’t stress, Tyler. Just calm down and relax.’

‘I know,’ says Tyler. ‘I’m going to get rid of this doctor soon because I’m sick of him.’

‘Tyler, forget him!’ says Angelique. ‘He’s going to help my mother and he’s got to save her but he’s a good person, can you believe that?’

Tyler stops frowning and replies, ‘I’m sorry, Angelique. I want to protect you and I don’t wanna lose you. We’re lovers and part-ners and it’s a hard habit for me to break.’

‘It’s not your fault, Tyler, I’m still in love with you and I want to spend time with you for the rest of my life. I still love you, okay?’ says Angelique.

‘All right,’ says Tyler. ‘Let’s go to the wedding dress shop to get a white wedding dress for you.’

‘Thanks, I mean, okay, Tyler,’ says Angelique so they left the waiting room and leave the Alfred Hospital.

At the wedding shop in Toorak Road, Tyler is sitting and waiting for Angelique to come so he takes his wallet out of his pocket, opens his wallet and looks at a photo of his parents which was taken a long time ago when he was eighteen. They’re still alive now so he closes his wallet, puts his wallet back in his pocket and says to himself, ‘Hmm, I’m not sure what I’m going to do now.’

Then, Angelique with her white wedding dress followed by two assistants (one male and one female) arrives from the change rooms and asks Tyler, ‘What do you think of this dress, Tyler?’

‘You look so beautiful,’ replies Tyler.

  ‘Thanks,’ says Angelique.

‘Would you like to buy this dress?’ asks a female assistant.

‘I’ll take it,’ replies Angelique. ‘My fiancée will buy it.’

‘Are you sure your fiancée is going to buy it?’ asks the male assistant.

‘Yes, he will buy this dress,’ replies Angelique so she and the two assistants of the wedding dress shop walk back to the change rooms while Tyler has to be patient again and wait for Angelique to come again.

Ten minutes later at the same shop, Tyler takes his wallet out of his pocket, takes a credit card out and hands it to the owner of the wedding dress shop. The owner swipes the credit card and Tyler signs for it and the owner gives Tyler a bag which has the white wedding dress.

‘Thank you,’ says Tyler and when the owner leaves, he puts the credit card back in his wallet and puts his wallet back. He is thinking about his parents and Angelique asks him, ‘What’s wrong, Tyler?’

  ‘I’m thinking,’ replies Tyler.

‘What are you thinking about?’ asks Angelique.

‘I’m thinking about my parents,’ replies Tyler.

‘Are your parents still alive?’ asks Angelique.

‘Yes, they’re still alive,’ replies Tyler.

‘Where do they live?’ asks Angelique.

‘They live in Elsternwick,’ replies Tyler. ‘Not far from the Hollywood Seven Bar.’

‘Would you like to invite your parents to your place?’ asks Angelique.

‘No,’ replies Tyler. ‘We’ll visit my parents’ house one day because we’ve got lots of jobs to do now and I don’t want to talk about it.’

  ‘Yeah, all right,’ says Angelique.

‘Come on Angelique,’ says Tyler. ‘Let’s go back to my flat.’

They leave the wedding dress shop as they continue with their wedding plans.

t the police station, Professor Jerry Bowie and a forensic scientist are checking the DNA test of the mysterious coat. This coat has become very real for them because it has a bit of light brown coloured hair and a stain of saliva. They put the mysterious coat under the microscope, but suddenly, there is something wrong. Professor Bowie turns the coat around from back to front so he and the forensic scientist can see the label. He discovers that the mysterious person’s name is on the label.

Then Inspector Mack Young enters the forensic lab and asks Professor Bowie, ‘What’s happening Professor? Any news?’

‘There’s something wrong with the mysterious coat, Inspector,’ replies Professor Bowie.

  ‘What is it?’ asks Mack.

‘It’s got some writing on the label,’ replies Professor Bowie.

‘Is it the name of the mysterious person who was arrested two nights ago?’ asks Mack.

‘I think so,’ replies Professor Bowie.

  ‘Show me.’

‘You should come and have a look in the microscope, Inspector.’

‘Oh, sorry,’ says Mack as he walks to the microscope. When he puts his eye on the lens he sees a label on the mysterious coat and he also sees a mysterious person’s name. Mack is shocked. ‘Oh my God!’

  ‘What, Inspector?’ asks Professor Bowie.

‘There’s the name of the mysterious person.’

  ‘What’s the name?’

‘The name is … Robert Taylor.’

‘May I write his name on a piece of paper to remind me, Inspector?’ asks the forensic scientist.

  ‘Yeah sure,’ replies Mack.

Mack finishes looking at the coat under the microscope.

‘Hmm, I can’t believe the name of the mysterious person was finally here in this mysterious coat.’

‘Would you like to have a look at a photo of that coat again, Inspector?’ asks Professor Bowie.

  ‘Yes please,’ says Mack.

‘Okay,’ says Professor Bowie as he opens the drawer, takes the photo out and gives it to Mack. When Mack sees the photo of the mysterious coat he realises it is the same coat. He gives the photo back to Professor Bowie.
