Aiden shook his head. “I don’t know,” he said. “We came from Charleston.”

A small smile appeared on her lips then. “I’m not going to get tired of you,” she said. “And if I do, then it’s my problem. I want out of here. I don’t want to be stuck here while the fighting happens. I want to be with you and Zack, on an adventure.”
“It won’t be safe,” Aiden sighed.
“And staying here will be?” Mel asked. “Are you trying to get me to stay here? Do you not want me to come?”
“I do,” Aiden said. “I’m just worried that you’re going to regret it.”
