Secrets of Amelia Page 12

by Andrea Anderson

The summer was passing fast and the first six weeks was almost over. Amelia was able to work full time at her construction job and saved enough money for the following semester’s tuition because of all the overtime needed, because of a special project that had a fast deadline for completion. Amelia saw Chuck when he brought out her paycheck and she met him for dinner at the diner once or twice and then for coffee when it rained, and she couldn’t work at the construction site. She thought he was an OK guy for trying to help her and told Chad about him.

Their third year was almost the same routine, work, school and not much time for leisure for any of them. A week before the first semester was over; Amelia got a call from Deana.

“Deana, it’s so good to hear from you. How is it going?”

“Hi Amelia, you sound good, is everything going well for you?

“I have pretty much the same routine, work, school, and studying.”

“I’m sorry I have some bad news for you. Mrs. Brown is very ill, the doctors really don’t know what happened, they think she may have had a stroke and they aren’t sure she is going to be OK. Mr. Brown came to the farm today and asked me to call you. He said, she keeps calling for you.”

“Oh, Deana no,” Amelia said and started to cry, “I was starting to get worried about her because I haven’t heard from her in a few days. Chad is on a mission, so I haven’t heard from him either. My God, I don’t know what to do, I will try and come home, but I have one more final to take before I can leave. I’ll call you as soon as I know. Let Mr. Brown know I will be coming in a few days and please call me if you hear anything else. Thanks, Deana, for calling me, I love all of you, bye.”

Amelia was sitting on her bed crying, when Betty and Shelly came home, she told them about Ida.

“Amelia,” said Shelly, “we’re so sorry can we do anything to help?”

“Yes, we can,” said Betty springing into action. “Amelia get on your computer and email you instructor. Tell him you have a family emergency and ask if you can take your last exam today online and so that you can leave,” said Betty. Shelly as soon as she gets a timeline for the exam you make a round trip plane reservation for her, here is my credit card. I will get out your suitcase and start helping you pack.”

“But, but” said Amelia, “I can’t simply pack up and go.”

“Of course, you can,” said Betty, “the semester is almost over and we can help you.”

“I have some money saved, but I don’t have a credit card,” said Amelia, “let me get my purse and….

“Hold it right there,” said Betty. “Are you two my best friends?”

“Yes,” they both said in unison.

“That’s all I need to know, don’t worry Amelia I don’t intend to let you off the hook, and you will get a chance to pay me back in the future. For now, I can do this for you.”

“Amelia called Chuck and told him what happened. I don’t know how long I will be gone. I will call you when I get back.”

“It’s OK Amelia I will let Andy know. I’ll just say you had a family emergency and will be back. Can I help you with anything?”

“I don’t think so, my professor is going to let me take my last final exam early this afternoon, and then I will be flying home tomorrow morning early.”

“Meet me after your exam we’ll have an early dinner and if you want, I will take you to the airport tomorrow morning.”

“That sounds good,” said Amelia, “because both Shelly and Betty still have classes. I’ll meet you at the diner at 7:00.”

At dinner, Amelia told Chuck all about Ida and that if it weren’t for her helping, she would not be have been able to go to college. Chuck took her back to the apartment and she asked him to come in for a drink.

“OK just one,” he said, “we have to get up early tomorrow.”

They sat and had their drink and when Chuck looked at her, he saw her tears.

“Come here sweetie,” he said, as he took her in his arms and hugged her.

“I’m so sad for Ida,” she said, “she’s a sweet lady; she’s really like a mom to me.”

“It’s alright to be upset you love her very much, I can see that,” and he kissed her. She was startled at first, but it felt good and outside of roommate hugs, she had not been hugged by a man in a very long time.

Chuck said, “Do you want me to stay with you tonight?”

“No,” said Amelia, she was surprised Chuck asked her that, but thought he felt sorry she was upset, “Betty and Shelly will be home soon, so I won’t be alone.”

Chuck gave her a squeeze and told her to try and relax, he said, “I’m going to go now and you should get to bed, you will have a long day tomorrow, I’ll see you in the morning.”

In the morning, he took her to the airport and kissed her goodbye.

Secret thoughts: (I’m so happy I’m on my way to see Ida I worry about her being alone again now that I’m gone. Chuck sure surprised me with the kisses. I hope he doesn’t think I owe him sex or anything because he got me a job. I don’t even want to think about the possibility of that.)

  [ Chapter 20 ]

Matt picked her up from the airport and Amelia asked him to take her straight to the hospital. Mr. Brown was in the ICU waiting room when she arrived.

“Amelia, it good to see you honey, thank you for coming, she’s been asking for you and Chad over and over.”

“What happened? Mr. Brown,” asked Amelia.”

“I came home from work after being away three days and found her on the floor. Nobody knows how long she was lying there, but the side of her face is all red and sore looking. I called the doc and the ambulance right off and they brought her here. She is in and out of a deep sleep, when she wakes all she does is call for you and Chad.”

  “Is Chad coming?” Asked Amelia.

“Yes, he’s coming, but he’s was so far away, he was out on a mission and his commander had to get word to him in the field. He had to get emergency leave and all, but he will be coming home.”

Amelia held Ida’s hand and kissed her cheek. Ida did not rouse; she didn’t call out or say anything. Amelia stayed until late in the evening, she talked softly to her, but got no response. Then Matt came and took her home. She promised Mr. Brown she would be at the hospital first thing in the morning and gave him a hug.

Amelia was so happy to see her family, especially Deana and baby Ellen. She was such a darling little girl. Amelia went to the hospital early the next day. Amelia helped the nurses turn Ida and rub her back. They told her that she should talk to Ida and that hearing is the last sense a person loses, so she probably can hear Amelia talking. In the afternoon, Amelia was sitting in a chair next to Ida’s bed and reading to her. Ida opened her eyes and called her name. Amelia immediately got up and answered her, “Ida I’m here”, she said. Ida turned her head and looked at her as if she couldn’t believe it were her.

“Amelia is that really you or am I dreaming?”

“Yes, Ida it’s me,” she said, as she went to her and gave Ida a hug. “I missed you so much,” said Amelia, “and I was so afraid, you were so sick.”

“I think I’m a little better now, how come you’re not in school honey?”

“The semester is over for now, I took my last final early because Deana called and told me you were so sick, I had to come.”

“I don’t remember what happened, but I’m glad you’re here.”

Chad saw them hugging as he walked in the room. Mom, Mellie, he said, and went over and hugged them both.

“What are you doing here Chad?” Asked Ida.”

“Well I haven’t been home in a while and dad said you were sick, so I came to see if you were OK.”

“Son, it’s so good to see you and Amelia came to see me too. Your father must have been scared I was going to die or something.”

  “I don
’t know about that. I do know it’s great to see you mom and you to Mellie. I missed you both very much. We have so much to catch up on. Mellie you get better looking every time I see you,” said Chad and winked at her.

Amelia blushed, “You say that every time you see me,” she said.

  “I mean it,” he said.

For the next few days, Chad, Amelia, and Mr. Brown were constant visitors at the hospital. Chad and Amelia talked about her job and school and he told her about some of the new places he had been and about his friends who go with him.

The doctors were very pleased with Ida’s progress. She had a mild stroke. “If you keep this up Mrs. Brown, we’re going to let you go home soon. You are so luck you don’t have any significant paralysis, but you will need some physical therapy.”

Mr. Brown decided that he would retire and stay home and take care of Ida. It was too much for her to be alone all week, and besides they should try and enjoy the rest of their lives.

Ida had been in the hospital for four days before Amelia and Chad got there. She was ready to go home. The hospital staff had arranged for visiting nurses to come and see her for the next, several weeks. Amelia spent most of her day at the Brown’s and she made sure they had dinner and then she would go home to the farm. Two nights after Ida got home Chad said, “Tonight I’m making dinner and you, Amelia, you’re going to be the guest.”

“That sounds delightful, Chad. I didn’t know you knew how to cook,” Said Amelia.

“I think I can manager steaks on the grill,” he said, “Oh yee of little faith.”

“I have every confidence in you,” said Amelia, “but just in case I will supervise,” she teased with a small giggle.

Chad and Amelia were outside on the patio, Chad was grilling the steak, and Amelia was talking to him. The cat spotted something in the grass and took off running between Amelia’s legs knocking her off balance. Chad caught her before she fell and kept his arms around her. He looked down at her in his arms, and his face was so close to hers, he kissed her on the lips. Surprised she let out a little squeaking noise. Chad wasn’t certain if she made the noise, because she was caught off guard and almost fell over, or if she was so stunned by his kiss. Without stopping for a breath, he said, “I have wanted to do that for a very long time, I will have to get a ton of catnip for the cat for making it possible. I hope you didn’t mind?” He told her while looking in her eyes.

“I didn’t mind at all,” Amelia said.

“Then let’s do it again,” he said, as he took her in his arms and kissed her more deeply this time. She kissed him back. They kept on kissing. He burned the steaks and his father teased him at the dinner table, he didn’t care because he couldn’t wait until he could get Amelia alone that evening. After supper Amelia helped John get Ida to bed and Chad did the dishes. When Ida was all settled for the night, John told them he was going to watch TV in their bedroom, and he would see them tomorrow and said good night.

Chad opened a bottle of wine and brought out two glasses. They talked for a while and watched TV. It seemed so natural, she felt so comfortable with him, she put her head on his shoulder, he bent down to say something to her, and instead of words coming out he kissed her. Chad’s kisses were so different to her. Amelia was so turned on by them. Kissing Chad was not like when she kissed Chuck. Chad kissed her deeply and was very passionate, she found herself responding. Amelia knew all about having sex from studying biology, but didn’t have much romantic experience, and she was becoming very excited. She often wondered what it would be like to have sex, but didn’t want to have sex, with just anyone, she wanted it to be with someone she loved.

“I don’t have much experience kissing,” she said, “I hope I’m doing OK.”

“Don’t worry about that, I think you are a very fast learner because you are a wonderful kisser.”

They were kissing for a while and as the kisses deepened, she was feeling changes in her body. They were new to her, her body felt hot, and she could felt her nipples stiffing against Chad’s chest and she had a warm feeling between her legs.

Chad whispered, “May I touch you. I want to touch you so much.” She answered with a throaty, “uh hu,” not wanting to stop kissing him. She didn’t know what to expect when Chad touched her breasts, unlike the time Roberto touched her, which she hated, or the kiss she got from Don, this was so different.

Secret thoughts: (I so wanted Chad to touch me. He is not at all like the others. What wonderful new sensations I’m experiencing. Chad is so gentle, but firm and it felt as if he is caressing my breasts not mauling them.)

Amelia felt so sensuous and was wet between her legs. She knew Chad was very excited too. He made low sounds in his throat and ran his fingers through her hair and down her hips. She never felt so aroused and her skin was hot and flushed. She put her hands on his chest and opened his shirt. She put her hand on his crouch, felt his erection, and got even more fired up, knowing how much he wanted her too. She rubbed her hands on his bare skin and pressed her breasts into him.

He stopped kissing her lips and kissed her neck and the top of her breasts above her bra and hugged her hard. “Sweetheart,” he rasped in her ear, “I want you so much, I feel as if I know you so well and I feel so close to you. You are so beautiful, and you have a sensational body.” Breathing heavy now, “we have to take it a little slower now, because I’m in a very volatile state, I feel as if I might explode,” he said a little short of breath.

“I know,” she whispered, “I’m so unhinged, your kisses have taken me somewhere I haven’t been before, and I really like it, I can’t seem to get enough of them,” she said. “I feel so hot and want to get as close to you as I can,” and she tightened her arms around him to get closer to his body. He was running his hands through her hair and trying not to kiss her, but the kisses were so compelling and when she began nibbling on his neck as he kissed her the top of her breasts. She was making little noises deep in her throat.

“We have to take a little break now, honey,” he said panting, “I, I just have to, just for a few minutes.”

“Why Chad I was enjoying you so much, your kisses are so delicious, I have never kissed like that before, or no one has touch me like that, it makes me want more.”

“Me too, honey, believe me I want more, but we must slow down. We went from 0 to 60 in about 3 seconds.”

“Don’t you like my kisses?” Asked Amelia, sounding upset.

“I love your kisses sweetheart, that’s the trouble, I like them too much.”

“I’m going to go to the kitchen for a glass of water and you straighten up your clothes and I’ll take you home.

He held her close as they drove slowly to the farm and he kissed her tenderly and held her close. They stopped at a red light and began kissing until the car behind them began blowing the horn. They walked to the front porch and he said, “Good night sweet, wonderful, Mellie. I love your kisses. I will see you tomorrow, I really enjoyed being with you tonight and he gave her a long deep kiss and left.”

Secret thoughts: (I know I have to unwrap my arms from around myself but I’m pretending that I’m still with Chad and he is kissing me and touching my body. God, I didn’t want that to stop. I’m not sure I should have been open with him telling him what I was feeling but I’m so comfortable with him everything just jumps out of my mouth. I hope that feeling continues because it’s so comforting to know another person is listening sincerely to you.)

Amelia spent some time the next day playing with Deana’s baby and catching up on family news. The lawyer was still working on it, but the deed was in the final stages of being legally Roger’s, Matt’s and Amelia’s. She kept thinking about Chad and last night.

  [ Chapter 21 ]

Just before lunch, Amelia’s cell phone rang.

“Hi it’s Chad,” he said. “How are you this morning?”

  “I’m just fine.
How are you?”

“I’m calling to make a confession,” he said.

“What crime have you committed?” she purred.

  “I think I’m addicted?”

  “Addicted?”

“Yes, to you and your kisses, when I woke up this morning that was all I could think of. And now I want to come and get you so I can get a fix, if that’s Ok with you.”

“That’s fine with me,” said Amelia. In fact, I think the kissing thing has hooked me too, because when I woke up this morning, I wanted some more kisses too.”

“I’ll be there in ten minutes.”

Chad pulled up and came in the house. He greeted everyone and made a fuss over the baby. He asked Amelia if she was going to visit his mother.

“Yes, I just need to get my sweater.”

“I can give you a ride,” he said.

They got in the car and he drove past the Brown’s house.

“Hey! Where are you going, you missed the house,” said Amelia. He pulled to the side of the road. I talked to mom this morning and told her I wanted to take you on a picnic, and she thought that was a wonderful idea, she said it was about time you had a day off. What do you think?”

“I think it’s a fine idea,” she said, “I can’t remember the last time I was on a picnic.”

He leaned over and gently took her chin in his hand and brushed her lips with his, I needed a quick fix,” he said smiling.

“I can’t remember when I was on a picnic either; we don’t go on many picnics in the military.”

They drove up Prospect Peak, walked into the meadow and spread out a blanket. They ate the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches he made and drank the ice-cold water that welled up out of the spring. Amelia told him they were the best peanut butter and jelly sandwiches she ever ate. “That’s probably because we ate them here in the meadow,” said Chad. “This is a wonderful place.” He propped himself up against the trunk of a tree and she rested her head in his lap.
