Contrary to what he had imagined, the mountain was unlike the undulating nature of other divine mountains. Instead, it was like a holy sword straight in between heaven and earth.
In summary: it was thin and high.
Standing at the mountain foot was like standing under the Korin Tower, where half of the mountain was covered up by thick clouds, while the top of the mountain was not to be seen.
At the moment, two sides were in a standoff.
One side was the massive numbers of Boundless Giants—they formed a densely-packed blockade around the mountain as they guarded the Monarch Mountain firmly.
Opposite them were experts from other existential planes—Colossal Dragons, Angels, Giant Elephants, Behemoths, Immortal Fire Phoenixes, Frost Gods...
Divine Netherworld Phoenixes, Fallen Angels, Abyss Demons, Purgatory Kings, Dark Demonic Dragons, Hell Dragon Gods, Necromancers, Fire Demons, Dead Souls, the Undead...
The sheer numbers were no less than a million.
The weakest ones were mid-level higher deities and mid-level Great Demon Gods. High-level higher deities and high-level Great Demon Gods were aplenty as well.
And, of course, the Fairy Goddess and other goddesses were there as well. They joined up with goddesses from other Divine Realms to make up over 300 goddesses.
At that moment, the experts of different existential planes surrounded and jammed up the Monarch Mountain. Cold, greedy eyes wished they could devour the mountain immediately.
“This massive formation is unprecedented!” Dodola commented. “Meng Lei, have you seen so many experts on the same stage?”
“Not really!”
Meng Lei licked his lips as he swallowed his saliva. His eyes were overt and filled with greed, as though they had seen a bunch of portable treasuries.
What about the Monarch’s Treasure?
In Meng Lei’s eyes, a million experts in front of him were the richest treasure.
Just think about it!
A mid-level Great Demon God was worth around 60 million Divinity Crystals. 10 of them would be 600 million, 100 of them would be 6 billion, 10,000 of them would be 600 billion...
,000,000 of them would be 6,000 billion, which was... 6 trillion.
6 trillion Divinity Crystals!
That was already a lot.
“Foolish Boundless Giants, you are surrounded! If you know what’s good for you, get your Great Prophet to come out at once! Or else, we don’t mind helping you flatten the Monarch Mountain...”
Chapter 359: The King’s Providence, The Heart of The Existential Plane
A million experts from foreign existential planes stood proudly in the sky and gazed upon Monarch Mountain with utmost greed. They clearly thought that they already had the Great Prophet in the bag.
And, of course, the Monarch’s treasure, too. They were determined to get their hands on it!
As for the innumerable Boundless Giants guarding Monarch Mountain, they didn’t think much of them at all.
While it seemed like there were numerous Boundless Giants there, their overall combat strength was far from ideal. There was a world of difference and no comparability between the two parties at all.
“You foolish giants!”
“If you know what’s good for you, then get the Great Prophet out here at once!”
“Otherwise, we don’t mind filling this place with blood!”
The experts from foreign existential planes shouted and clamored for their demands, their demeanors arrogant and conceited. The innumerable Boundless Giants in the vicinity of Monarch Mountain gnashed their teeth in fury, wishing they could fight to the death with them.
“Those evil extraterrestrial demons! They are too much! I’m going to fight it out with them!”
“That’s right! Fight it out with them!”
“Fight it out with them? You fools! Our mission is to guard the Great Prophet and ensure his safety, not to fight it out with those extraterrestrial demons. Get it?”
The strongest Boundless Giant among them barked fiercely at them. His name was Olio, and he was the strongest existence on the Boundless Plane itself. He was also the Great Prophet’s guardian and held absolute authority on the Boundless Plane.
The riled-up Boundless Giants quietened at once the moment he spoke. There was trust in their eyes. As long as Big Brother Olio was around, they had nothing to fear. Big Brother Olio was the strongest!
Yet what they didn’t know was that Big Brother Olio, whom they thought of as the strongest, was currently in a huge panic. He wasn’t confident in beating them at all!
Olio could sense that the extraterrestrial demons were unprecedentedly strong this time. They were far, far stronger than the ones that had descended upon the continent in the past, especially when there were even quite a few among them who weren’t any weaker than himself!
What... were they supposed to do this time?
Olio’s countenance remained stoic, but he could hardly conceal the despair in his heart. He knew very well that they, the Boundless Giants, were currently facing the most terrifying catastrophe that they had ever had!
Show even a moment of carelessness, and they, the Boundless Giants, would completely become history itself!
O Great Prophet, I beg you, please give me a sign! Olio cried inwardly.
“Is the Great Prophet coming out or not?”
“If he’s not coming out, then we’re going to charge in there!”
“So, it seems like you want to do this the hard way! Let’s attack together, everyone! Once we wipe out those foolish Boundless Giants, we’ll naturally find their Great Prophet!”
“Attack!”
At last, the million experts from foreign existential planes could no longer hold back, and they launched their attacks. The strongest deities and Great Demon Gods among them took the lead and charged brazenly toward the Boundless Giants.
“Damn it!”
“They’re coming!”
“We’ll protect the Great Prophet even if we must die!”
“Fight to the death and protect Monarch Mountain!”
Boom!
Like huge, raging black waves, the million experts surged toward Monarch Mountain as though they were going to drown out the Boundless Giants and Monarch Mountain itself.
Against such attacks, the Boundless Giants naturally didn’t just sit and await death to befall them. They forged ahead in the face of the crisis, and both parties clashed against each other with a great boom.
Boom!
As though two huge waves had clashed against each other, vast and mighty shockwaves that shook the world erupted and spread into the surroundings. The dimension around them broke into pieces. Energy blasts ran rampant, strong gales wreaked havoc, and blood splashed everywhere...
The area around Monarch Mountain instantly became Hell itself. Vast numbers of Boundless Giants died tragically. The two parties weren’t in the same league at all!
One could easily envisage that the Boundless Giants would all be killed before long. Against the ferocious and terrifyingly strong experts from foreign existential planes, they didn’t have a chance of victory at all.
“Save them, Uncle!”
Anxiety and worry surfaced in Samo’s eyes. He turned to Meng Lei with a pleading look, hoping that he would render his assistance.
“Don’t worry. Uncle will definitely do something about it.”
Meng Lei gestured at Samo to calm down. Then, he said with a smile, “Before that, though, Uncle’s gonna bring you somewhere first.”
“Where are we going?”
A puzzled look came over Samo’s face, and then he realized that he had already arrived somewhere new.
“This is... The peak of Monarch Mountain?”
Samo was stunned.
“Yes, we’re at the peak.”
Meng Lei nodded lightly.
Monarch Mountain was tall and narrow, so the peak wasn’t very wide or spacious. In spite of that, a majestic shrine stood tall o
n the cramped and narrow peak.
The shrine was gray in color, and it was of an identical color palette to the Boundless Plane. Simple and boorish in style, it matched the Boundless Giants’ architectural style very much.
“The Monarch Shrine!” Samo exclaimed in a low voice.
He was incredibly excited, as though he had just seen something that existed only in legends.
“Let’s go in and take a look.”
Meng Lei gave him a smile and walked toward the Monarch Shrine while Samo hurriedly followed after him.
However, before they could push the doors open and enter, the Monarch Shrine’s doors slowly swung open by themselves. A deep, aged voice then floated out from within.
“You’ve come?”
“Uh...”
Meng Lei was stupefied for a moment there. He didn’t quite know what was going on. Nevertheless, he continued into the shrine, where the majestic statue of a Giant stood.
Clad in beast hide, the Giant held a gigantic axe.
His eyes were sharp and his countenance stern and awe-inspiring.
Meng Lei had never seen the Boundless King, but he could guess that that must be a statue of the Boundless King himself.
Of course, the statue wasn’t the point here. Rather, the target of Meng Lei’s attention was a white-haired elderly man seated cross-legged at the foot of the statue.
Short and small and as skinny as a stick, he was vastly different from the big, tall, strong, and muscular Boundless Giants.
“You’ve finally come, o he who is favored by the King!” The old man slowly lifted his head, revealing an aged visage covered in age spots.
“Are you the Great Prophet?”
Meng Lei looked the old man up and down with a puzzled look on his face. He asked, “What did you mean when you said what you did just now? It sounds as if you knew that I’d be coming?”
“Cough, cough!”
The Great Prophet started to cough badly. Then he replied, “Though the great Boundless King has perished, his brilliance continues to watch over and bless his descendants. It’s just a shame,” the Great Prophet sighed softly and said, “That the descendants were unfilial and ultimately couldn’t fulfill his dying wishes. I am truly ashamed!”
“Why is your explanation confusing me more and more, Great Prophet?” Meng Lei picked his ears and asked, “Can you be a little clearer?”
“Haha, you’ll understand right away!”
The Great Prophet gave a raspy laugh and slowly got onto his feet with his walking stick’s help. Then, he turned and walked right up to the statue and shifted one of the statue’s thumbs.
Crack!
The floor in front of the statue suddenly cracked and revealed a magic circle.
Meng Lei raised an eyebrow and immediately recognized with just a glance that it was just a regular teleportation magic circle. There was nothing complex or profound about it.
The Great Prophet activated the magic circle and said to Meng Lei, “Go ahead and enter, he who is favored by the King. You will receive the answers you are looking for within!”
Meng Lei asked with a frown, “Where exactly does this teleportation magic circle lead to, Great Prophet?”
“The place where you wish to go!”
After uttering these few words, the Great Prophet retreated to the side and stayed there. As though an old monk that had entered a state of meditation, his head was hung low, and he didn’t speak anymore. No matter how Meng Lei tried to probe him, he was as if a woodblock and simply didn’t say even a word more.
“I can’t help but find the whole thing rather strange, Meng Lei.” Dodola said gravely, “You’d better think carefully about whether or not you really want to go in.”
“I’ll go! There’s nothing much to really think about.”
Surprisingly, Meng Lei didn’t hesitate much. He said, “The metal-origin divine body, wood-origin divine body, and thunder-origin divine body are all in me now, so my body is even stronger than the average Great Perfection deity now. Added to this my time-based laws of nature, I’m confident that I can put up a fight even if a Chief God makes an appearance!”
Meng Lei then said to Samo, “Stay here and wait for me to return, Samo. I’ll be back in a jiffy!”
“‘kay, Uncle!”
Meng Lei stepped into the teleportation circle and vanished from where he was. Only then did the Great Prophet raise his head, a bright gleam flashing across his murky eyes.
Whoosh!
The world spun for a while, and then, Meng Lei arrived somewhere else.
Dazzling and eye-catching light of ten colors filled the whole world. There was eye-catching metal, burning fire, heavy earth, vitality wood, flashing thunder, gentle water...
Rich laws of nature auras rippled throughout the place at will. Apart from that, there was also pure, unadulterated Power of Origin enveloping Meng Lei!
Floating quietly in the center of this whole world was a crystal that shone with light of ten colors. As though the sun, it reigned over the whole world.
“The Heart of The Existential Plane!”
Meng Lei recognized the crystal at first glance.
“You’re here.”
It was right at this moment that a deep and boorish-sounding voice abruptly rang out beside his ear.
Chapter 360: Reviving The King, Greetings, My Master
“You’re here.”
A boorish voice abruptly rang out.
Meng Lei suddenly swung his head to the side to see several rays of light shooting out of the Heart of The Existential Plane’s surface. Then, they converged into a big burly man clad in beast hide and holding a gigantic axe. Boorish and heroic, he had an air that overlooked the whole world around him.
“The Boundless King!” A huge jolt went through Meng Lei, who couldn’t help but exclaim, “You’re still alive?!”
“No, he’s dead! Take a closer look—the one in front of you right now is just a fragment of his divine spirit.”
Dodola’s voice rang out. “The Boundless King is a supreme, juggernaut-class existence. If he really were still alive, you’d have been flattened a long time ago.”
“That’s true!”
Realization dawned upon Meng Lei. He wasn’t afraid of anyone in the whole Boundless Plane, and this remained true even if the Boundless Plane already had a master.
However, the Boundless King was the only exception. After all, that was a computer bug-like existence!
True enough, the Boundless King gave a hearty laugh and said, “You don’t need to be so nervous. I have indeed already met my demise. This is a divine spirit fragment that I left on the Heart of The Existential Plane.”
Meng Lei nodded lightly in response, but puzzlement filled him the next moment. He said, “Since you have a divine spirit fragment here, then why don’t you seize someone else’s body and be reborn? I believe you definitely have the capability to do so!”
Even a half-deity’s divine spirit fragment was near-immortal and near-indestructible. Should a half-deity die, they could totally just seize someone else’s body and come back to life. This was also the reason why so many evil deities had managed to reincarnate.
Of course, the rebirth process would definitely be fraught with great difficulties. It could only be said to harbor a chance of being reborn. It couldn’t guarantee that one would fully be brought back to life.
That was already the case for even half-deities, let alone the Boundless King. Meng Lei believed that as long as he was willing, he could totally seize someone else’s body, come back to life, and make a name for himself once more.
The Boundless Plane shook his head and replied, “You’re not wrong. I can indeed make use of the divine spirit fragment that I left on the Heart of The Existential Plane to come back to life, but I’m above doing something like that.”
“Why?”
Meng Lei was puzzled.
“My divine spirit origin energy has already been destroyed. I won’t be able to return
to my peak condition even if I seize someone else’s body and come back to life. I’ll only be able to reach the Great Perfection stage at the very most.”
The Boundless King smiled disdainfully and said, “That is but just mere Great Perfection. I’m above doing something like that!”
His words, however, puzzled Meng Lei all the more. The Boundless King had been a great Juggernaut-class existence before he had died.
Juggernaut?
What was a Juggernaut?
A Chief God that had 100% comprehended a type of supreme laws of nature... That was what a Juggernaut was!
Since he could cultivate and reach the Great Perfection stage, then he could continue to cultivate further, couldn’t he? With his memories from the past, comprehending supreme laws of nature shouldn’t be too difficult, right?
He shouldn’t have any problem returning to his peak.
“Meng Lei, the rumors say that the Boundless King didn’t cultivate laws of nature but just his body.”
Having seen through Meng Lei’s puzzlement, Dodola explained, “He’s said to be the only existence that had ever managed to cultivate his body to the Juggernaut stage!”
“A Juggernaut-level body? No wonder!”
A huge jolt went through Meng Lei as realization dawned upon him.
“My circumstances are unique, so it’s extremely difficult for me to return to my peak. It’s impossible unless I can find my divine body from back then!”
The Boundless King sighed.
“I see.”
Meng Lei let out a small sigh, too.
“But I’ve seen hope now!”
The Boundless King looked at Meng Lei and said, “Although it’s just a tiny sliver of hope, compared to the huge returns that rebirth would bring, I’m willing to stake everything on it!”
Meng Lei perked up.
The Boundless King’s eyes were bright and intense as he asked, “Little fellow, you’ve comprehended time-based laws of nature, haven’t you?”
“Yes!”
Meng Lei didn’t keep it a secret. Besides, he couldn’t, anyway. As the master of the existential plane, nothing that happened on the Boundless Plane would escape the Boundless King’s control. As such, he must also have witnessed him fusing five types of laws of nature together and comprehending time-based laws of nature.
