Picking Up Attributes From Today c1-406

“The first way is to spread one’s religious faith. All of the major godly clans and forces have their own power of faith domains. They also have laborers that specialize in manifesting power of divinity and purifying and refining Divinity Crystals. These laborers are essentially the farmers and workers of low-end existential planes.”
“You can actually do that?”
Everyone found this a huge eye-opener.
“The second way is mining the Divinity Crystal mines.”
The bandit chief went on. “There are innumerable Divinity Crystal mines of various sizes in the Divine Realms. These mines are rich in mineral deposits and contain an ample amount of Divinity Crystals. You need only to extract them, and you’ll be able to refine and use them. It’s simple, convenient, and quick!
“For the same reason, every Divinity Crystal mine is worth a lot. In particular, large ore veins with astonishing amounts of mineral deposits are even priceless in value! However, such ore veins are typically controlled by large godly clans and large forces. Ordinary deities can’t get a share of the action at all.”
“Divinity Crystal mines!”
Everyone’s eyes lit up. Compared to spreading religious faith, this method was practically way too convenient.
“Did you hear that?” Meng Lei smiled and said, “Divinity Crystals are aplenty in the Divine Realms. Relying on spreading faith to convert power of faith into power of divinity is too inefficient.”
“What a huge eye-opener!”
Ol’ Amos said with a sigh, “Little did I think that one can also obtain Divinity Crystals this way. We’re simply too ignorant and ill-informed!”
“That’s right, that’s right!”
Puhaman and the others nodded repeatedly.
“Our level of strength is constantly changing, as is the environment that we’re in. Therefore, our mindsets must also keep up with these changes,” said a smiling Meng Lei.
“In that case, what exactly should we do, Master?” asked Bubbles.
“Ask him!”
Meng Lei turned to the bandit chief. He said, “In the Divine Realm, how exactly do ordinary deities obtain Divinity Crystals? After all, I believe bandits that rob others like you are a minority.”
The bandit chief blushed in embarrassment and replied, “To obtain Divinity Crystals, ordinary deities typically choose to join any of the forces and earn their income through labor.
“Experts like all of you can also join a small clan somewhere and become their retainer or foreign minister[1]. You’ll be able to receive a handsome amount of Divinity Crystals every year.”
“Earn income through labor?”
“Become a retainer or a foreign minister?”
All of them looked at one another before turning to Meng Lei with queries in their eyes.
Meng Lei, however, shook his head lightly and said, “In comparison, I still prefer your method.”
The bandit chief was stupefied for a moment before he said disbelievingly, “Sir, you mean...”
“Didn’t you say it yourself just now? Divinity Crystals can be found everywhere in the Divine Realm, so wouldn’t everything be solved if you just take it and use it directly?”
Meng Lei gave him a slight smile.
The bandit chief was instantly rendered speechless.
Take it and use it directly? That’s even more goddamn shameless than what I’m doing!
Sheepish looks came over everyone else’s countenances, and they kindly reminded him, “This is the Earth Divine Realm, Master. Shouldn’t we exercise a bit of restraint here?”
“Restraint?”
A bewildered Meng Lei stared at them. “Since we can afford to be willful, then why should we exercise any restraint?”
-_-||
Everyone was rendered completely speechless.
“Let’s go to Dragon-Elephant City.”
Meng Lei held his hands behind his back and said, “In the Divine Realm, the strong are revered, and they can wantonly strip everything from the weak. This is a truth that’ll never change for eternity. You’ll be on the losing end if you’re too embarrassed to do it!”
“Yes, Master!”
The others could only follow after him in resignation.
“As for you, on account of how you’ve provided quite a bit of information, I’ll spare you for now.”
Meng Lei turned to the bandit chief and ordered, “Lead the way!”
“Thank you, sir!”

Chapter 374: A Chief God Bandit, Mysterious Black Fog
Translator: Atlas Studios Editor: Atlas Studios
The Earth Divine Realm was indeed inconceivably huge. It took them a whole week just to get out of Double Realm Mountain.
Of course, this was also partially due to Meng Lei. In order to “take” all the Divinity Crystals lying in abundance everywhere, Meng Lei had refrained from using the Great World-Breaching Transfer Technique, leading to their slow progress.
As the saying went, “From small increments comes abundance”. After a series of ransacking, he had collected a fairly impressive amount of riches. Going by a rate like that, Meng Lei believed that he’d be able to put together enough money very soon for the 5 trillion Divinity Crystals that he needed in order to buy credit for one of his supreme laws of nature!
The path ahead was a smooth and level one!
Thus, Meng Lei was naturally filled with motivation.
Half a month later, they finally arrived at Dragon-Elephant City. This was a city so massive that it was pretty much boundless. In comparison, Double Realm Mountain was just like a little pond sitting next to the boundless oceans.
There was no comparability between the two at all!
“It’s huge!”
“How many light years does this city stretch on for? Are all the cities in the Divine Realms so excessive?”
Terribly astounded, the group of them floated in mid-air and overlooked Dragon-Elephant City that stretched on far beyond one’s line of vision.
“Dear sirs, Dragon-Elephant City stretches on for 200 light-years from the east to the west and 180 light-years from the north to the south. It’s one of the 66 cities under the Caesar Dragon-Elephant Gods’ command.”
Upon seeing their astounded reactions, the bandit chief, a Divine Realm native, actually felt a small sense of smugness come over him. He explained with a smile, “Dragon-Elephant City has a resident population of 98,000 quadrillion people, among which the number of higher deities has reached as many as over one million, and more than 10% of the population are intermediate deities. It’s considered a fourth-rate city in the Divine Realms.”
Everyone couldn’t help but gasp upon hearing his explanation.
A distance of 200 light-years from the east to the west!
A distance of 180 light-years from the north to the south!
A resident population of 98,000 quadrillion people!
Higher deities that numbered as many as a million of them!
Huge!
It was too huge!
It was to the extent that one could no longer imagine how big Dragon-Elephant City was just by their imagination alone!
Meng Lei was also astounded. Even if he were to use his Great World-Breaching Transfer Technique, he’d have to spend quite a long time before he could get out of Dragon-Elephant City. This was simply too excessive!
However...
“The bigger it is, the better it is!”
The corners of Meng Lei’s lips curled upward, and his divine cognition gushed down like flowing mercury, instantly enveloping the whole area within a billion kilometers beneath them. Then, he cast his special ability—Transfer!
Transfer was a special ability that he had plundered from the Dark Mother Tree back then. He could disregard all obstructions and spatial barriers and transfer anything to his target location with this ability.
Meng Lei rarely used Transfer in battle because it wasn’t very suitable for use in battle
. Its biggest functionality was emptying treasuries and ransacking safes...
“Collect!”
With a thought from Meng Lei, all the Divinity Crystals, Laws of Nature Origin Crystals, and even spatial rings that he detected during his scan—be it hidden in treasuries or hidden in the soles of one’s shoes—were all transferred over to him!
“Collect them all, system!”
Whoosh!
An insane spike went through his Wealth value in the system. By the time it came to a stop, it had actually increased by a terrifying 7 trillion Divinity Crystals. This was simply too dramatic! One must know that Meng Lei had only looted all the Divinity Crystals within a billion kilometers of where he was!
How big was Dragon-Elephant City?
How many billion kilometers must it be?
“To hell with the Monarch’s treasure and the God of Time’s riches!” Meng Lei couldn’t help but let out an emotional sigh. “The Divine Realms’ deities’ riches are the true and biggest treasure of all!”
No matter how much riches a person had, there was ultimately still a limit to it simply because they were just an individual. This was true even if the person they were talking about was a mid-level Ancient God like the God of Time or a Supreme Juggernaut like the Boundless King.
Conversely, no matter how poor the masses were, once their riches were put together, it would come together to form a dramatic number.
Was Bill Gates rich?
Yes, he was!
But did he have as much as the total savings of 1.3 billion common people?
Of course not!
This was exactly what was so fearsome about a huge base number!
“Let’s continue!”
Since he’d already gotten a taste of the benefits, all the more, Meng Lei would never let the opportunity slip him by. Even though his actions were very shameless and had crossed the line and even caused innumerable deities to lose everything they had, what did it matter?
As the saying went, “If one doesn’t take what the heavens bestow upon them, misfortune brought about by it would instead befall them”. In a dog-eat-dog world like the Divine Realm, one’s strength was what was the most important instead. Who would care about the weak’s mad barking?
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Meng Lei looted the wallets and assets of all the deities in Dragon-Elephant City without any limit. Wailing and lamenting followed in the wake of everywhere he went.
“Damn it!”
“Who stole my wallet?!”
“My spatial ring! Where’s my spatial ring?!”
“That goddamn thief! How dare you steal my treasures!”
The large-scale theft naturally caught the city governors’ attention. The Caesar Dragon-Elephant Gods’ higher management officials in charge of Dragon-Elephant City deployed the city guards at once and began a search for the thief.
However, it was destined that they would never find him.
Who would be able to find Meng Lei when he had already mastered spatial laws of nature and was hiding in the sky with the others?
It was nothing more than just a futile struggle.
“How strange!”
“Why are there suddenly so many people in Dragon-Elephant City?”
“What are they ranting about?”
“What a mess...”
Meng Lei and the others were standing right above Dragon-Elephant City, so the ongoings in the city naturally didn’t escape them. All of them looked absolutely puzzled when they noticed the chaos in the city. Everything had been perfectly fine just now. Why had the city suddenly gone into utter chaos?
What exactly had happened in Dragon-Elephant City?
“Haha!”
Meng Lei merely chuckled in response and continued his shameless actions. If one were to say that he had the decency to feel a little embarrassed about his actions, in the beginning, all sense of shame and guilt had been tossed out of his mind by now at the sight of his currently rapidly increasing wealth.
Embarrassment?
All I want is Divinity Crystals!
In the city governors’ residence...
“A bunch of good-for-nothings!”
Dowa Caesar, a man with a dragon head, a human body, and a pair of horns on his head, yet also an elephant’s trunk on his face, was so furious that he smashed the table into pieces with his fist. With his finger pointed at a group of subordinates, he broke into a huge rant.
“There are so many of you, yet you can’t even catch a single thief! What’s the point of having all of you here?!”
“My lord, please calm down!”
“Calm down? How do you expect me to calm down?”
Dowa Caesar was fuming mad. “With so many deities robbed, everyone in the city is fearful and in a panic. If this goes on, Dragon-Elephant City will become totally destroyed!”
“My lord, that thief is simply too arrogan—”
“Cut that useless crap and find that goddamn thief at once! Otherwise, there’s no point in your existences anymore!”
“Yes, my lord”!
“A bunch of good-for-nothings!”
Dowa Caesar took a few deep breaths and forced himself to calm down as he stared at the now empty hall. However, he simply couldn’t.
Theft was actually just a trivial matter, but with so many deities robbed—especially when innumerable higher deities had been robbed of everything they had—this was no laughing matter!
One must know that a million higher deities were residing in Dragon-Elephant City. In contrast, there were no more than just a mere total of 100,000 higher deities in the whole of the Caesar Dragon-Elephant Gods!
If all one million higher deities came together to create a fuss, the Caesar Dragon-Elephant Gods wouldn’t be able to handle them at all!
Therefore, they absolutely had to find the thief and take back the treasures that the residents had lost.
Otherwise, Dowa Caesar had no guts to even imagine what might happen next!
“Kekeke, you’ve run into trouble, haven’t you?”
A series of piercing, owl’s hoot-like sounds rang out, and then, a black fog arose and started to circle and dance around Dowa Caesar.
“You bastard, who let you out?”
Dowa Caesar took a few furtive glances around him like an alarmed little rabbit. After ascertaining that no one had discovered them, he heaved a sigh of relief before shouting furiously, “Are you worried that no one will find you or what? Hurry and go back!”
“What’s there to be scared of? Everyone has already left.”
The black fog let out a couple of strange cackles and asked, “It seems like you’ve run into some trouble, and on top of that, it’s pretty serious?”
“It’s just a few petty thieves. It’s not much of a problem!” Dowa Caesar snorted and ordered, “Go back for now. Let’s communicate via telepathy instead.”
The black fog was unmoved. Instead, it replied, “A few petty thieves? You’re oversimplifying things. Do you know who the one that stole those innumerable deities’ riches is?”
“You know who it is?”
Dowa Caesar was puzzled.
“I’m afraid it would frighten you to death if I say his name!” replied the black fog mockingly.
“Who exactly is it?”
Dowa Caesar gnashed his teeth in fury.
“A Chief God,” uttered the black fog leisurely.
“A Chief God?”
A shudder went through Dowa Caesar’s entire body, and he almost wet himself in fear.
Chapter 375: A Chief God’s Remnant Soul, The Great Reincarnation And Destruction Process
What was a Chief God?
That was a supreme existence! Even the mere mention of a Chief God itself was enough to make Dowa Caesar tremble all over. He said, “Stop joking around, Moro. It’s not funny at all!”
“Joking? Who’s joking with you?”
The black fog cackled and said, “I’ll jus
t tell you the truth. The thief that stole the Dragon-Elephant City deities’ treasures is none other than a Chief God, albeit I have no idea why he’s doing something like that.”
A Chief God stealing other deities’ treasures?
It might sound awfully incredulous, but an inconceivable thing like that had indeed happened!
The black fog was also utterly puzzled.
“The thief’s a Chief God? Oh my god!”
Dowa Caesar was dismayed. He knew Moro was no decent fellow, but Moro had never lied to him during this long period that he had known him.
Whatever Moro said was definitely true. Innumerable incidents in the past had already proven this.
“Why is that Chief God doing something like this, Moro?” Dowa Caesar muttered to himself, “What kind of treasure is there that a supreme and lofty Chief God like him can’t get his hands on? Why did he steal the other deities’ belongings instead?”
“Who knows? Maybe he’s looking for something in particular.” The black fog cackled and said, “You can only count yourself unlucky to have encountered something like this because there’s no way you could’ve prevented it at all. What a pitiful fellow!”
Dowa Caesar shuddered and said, “Aren’t you supposed to be invincible, Moro? Can you stop that Chief God? Help me out here and stop him!”
“Had I been in my prime, I naturally wouldn’t have feared him, but now... We’d better just forget about it instead!”
The black fog rejected his request right away. It said, “I have no desire to mess with a Chief God-class existence at all. Even though he’s only a lesser Chief God... Eh? He’s coming over!”
As though it had detected something, the black fog instantly disappeared into Dowa Caesar and vanished from sight as though it had never once appeared.
“Moro! Moro!”
Dowa Caesar shouted his name twice.
“Stop calling for me, you fool! He’s already noticed us!” The black fog berated him furiously.
“Uh...”
Dowa Caesar hastily took the hint and shut up. One must know that Moro was his cheating device. The reason why an unvalued descendant from the clan’s branch family like him could mature into what he currently was was all thanks to Moro. He didn’t dare to even imagine how things would go if he were to lose Moro!
