PAULA QUINN: Dante and Chase, what happened after you met Sara and Gianelle, our irresistible heroines?
DANTE: I went to Devonshire to investigate a Saxon noble suspected of treason. I left, taking with me a beautiful servant accused of murder, spilling insults and planning her escape the moment I closed my eyes. Gianelle wanted no part of me after spending years as a slave, she wanted naught but her freedom. I wanted to protect her. And to do that, I had to buy her—to possess her, body and soul. But winning her heart was another matter.
CHASE: Sara asked me to help her run away from her husband. Of course I said, no. After sixteen years in the service, the last thing I needed to do was to screw up my career. But there was somethin’ about the way she looked at me that made it impossible to just walk away. That’s when all the trouble started.
MARLISS MELTON: Gentlemen, how would you say that your lives have been changed by Gianelle and Sara?
DANTE: Gianelle smiles at me like an angel and then she snubs me, rebuking every attempt I make to please her. I was a devilish rake, never considering the hearts I had broken. For the first time in my life, I care about what will become of a woman after I take her to my bed. Merde, it scares the hell out of me.
CHASE: Emotions used to run off me like water off an oiled tarp. Now I can’t get away from the way things make me feel. Shit, the first time I made love to Sara, I cried like a baby. I’ve tried goin’ back to what I used to be, a sniper without empathy, without remorse. But it’s too late now. Somewhere along the way, Sara crept inside of me. She’s made me a different man. Funny thing is, I don’t much mind.
There you have it, readers. Even the toughest warriors, regardless of the era in which they live, are helpless when it comes to love. In fact, it’s apparent to us authors that the bigger they are, the harder they fall.
Sincerely,
Paula Quinn
