“They quit.”
“So you stole Simone’s,” Baby Chris said and dropped his head laughing to himself.
“Why am I here?”
“’Cause I fucked up,” Flip said quietly.
“And I am tired of niggas fuckin’ up,” Jackie said and shot Flip in the head.
When his naked body dropped to the ground with a thud, Jackie stood over him and put two more in his chest.
“You mutha fuckas gonna get tired of fuckin’ up in my house,” she said and turned to leave thinking. As of right now, there is no more game.
When Jackie and Baby Chris returned to Conversations, the first thing they saw were all of the police and emergency vehicles that were outside the club. As they got closer, Jackie could see the damage to the front of the building.
“Pull over and park,” Jackie said and once he found a space, they walked to Conversations.
“What happened?” Baby Chris asked one of Jackie’s men as she walked inside. He told Baby Chris what happened, and also that four civilians were dead and fourteen more had to be taken to the hospital.
“And that’s not all.”
“What else?” Baby Chris asked.
“Rain Robinson got hit outside of J.R.’s last night.”
“Is she alive?”
“I don’t know.”
Chapter Nine
Rain sat up in bed. “Somebody needs to tell me what the fuck is going on!” she shouted when she heard about what happened at Conversations, but it hurt. Rain had taken seven shots and had only been awake for a while when she got the news, and it did nothing but make her madder than she already was.
“You need to try and relax,” Yarissa said, and tried to ease her back down on the bed.
“I know, but I need to find out what’s going on.”
“I understand that too, but…”
“But nothing. You need to find out if Jackie’s all right.”
“She wasn’t there when it happened. Her and Baby Chris had just left before the shooting started,” Yarissa said.
“Was anybody hurt?”
“Four dead, fourteen were taken to the hospital.”
“Fuck! First me, now this.”
Rain laid back in bed and thought for a moment about being careful what you wish for. Less than twenty-four hours ago, she was in her office, bored out her mind and desperate for some action. She had even got up to make the rounds, looking for something to get into. Not knowing that it was waiting right outside her door.
Rain closed her eyes and in her mind’s eye she could see Yarissa looking up from her tablet.
“You out?”
“Yeah. I’ma hit a couple of spots.”
She could hear and see herself like it was happening in slow motion. She could see Omari and Nelson standing and following her into the club. Rain could see Fantasy at the bar surrounded by men falling all over themselves. She remembered wondering if Jada West was in the city, but deciding that she didn’t care enough to ask.
Rain could see the bright lights speeding down the street toward her. “Get down!” Rain could hear herself yelling and reaching for her guns.
The first shot hit her in her right shoulder when she was firing back and running for cover. The next five hit Rain in her chest; the vest took care of those, but the impact took her off her feet. She caught the last one in her left leg as she was going down and hit the ground.
Hard.
“Oh, shit!” Leo, the head of front door security yelled and rushed to Rain. He checked her pulse. “Mileena, this is Leo at the front door.”
“Go for Mileena,” she said as she walked through J.R.’s.
“I have shots fired out here. Rain is down! Repeat Rain is down!” Leo shouted and Mileena picked up her pace. “But she’s alive.”
“Keep the crowd back. I’m on my way,” Mileena said, thinking, you can’t kill Rain Robinson, that bitch is invincible, as she approached Fantasy.
“What’s going on?” she asked.
Mileena just looked at Fantasy like she was crazy and kept going toward the front door.
Like I got time to stop and explain shit to that bitch.
Outside of J.R.’s, more security had arrived to secure the scene. They were pushing back and containing the crowd, snatching cell phones of people that were recording and breaking them on the spot.
Leo went to check on Omari and Nelson. Even though he could tell by looking at their bullet-riddled bodies that they were dead, he checked for a pulse anyway.
On the way to the front door, Mileena took out her phone, put on her Bluetooth and made a call. “Hello,” a sleepy voice answered.
“This is Mileena Hayes at J.R.’s. Rain Robinson has been shot. I have instructions to call this number.”
“Yes,” Glenda said and told Mileena what to do.
“I understand,” she said and ended the call just as she arrived outside.
With the help of security yelling, ‘make a hole’ and pushing people out of the way, Mileena fought her way to where security had surrounded Rain. By that time, Rain had regained consciousness. She signaled for Mileena to come closer. “I need for you to get me to Perry.”
“Already taken care of,” Mileena said as Rose arrived.
“Oh my god,” she said when she saw Omari and Nelson’s bullet-riddled bodies. She turned to Leo. “What happened?”
While Leo explained to Rose, Mileena made arrangements for Rain to be transported to Perry’s clinic and for security to go with her. Then she called Yarissa.
“Yarissa, this is Mileena. I need you to meet me at the back door now.”
Back inside J.R.’s, it took a while for Yarissa to find her walkie-talkie since she never used it. Once she did find it and remembered how to use it, she said, “Okay, what’s up?”
“Rain’s been shot, and Omari and Nelson are dead.”
“Oh shit! I’m on my way,” Yarissa said, and she ran out of the office.
When the Suburban arrived, Leo and two of his men, Dixon and Eddie, helped Rain get to her feet. “You two go with her,” Leo instructed.
Rain signaled for Rose as Dixon and Eddie helped her get in the back. “I need you to try and keep this contained.”
“I’ll do my best,” Rose promised, but questioned whether it could be done.
“Nobody needs to know that I got shot, understand?” Rain commanded, knowing that it would come out.
“I’ll do my best,” Rose promised again and closed the door. Dixon drove around back to pick up Yarissa and then they were off to Perry’s clinic.
When Perry heard Rain shouting, both he and Glenda rushed into the room to see what was the matter. By the time they got in there, Yarissa had calmed Rain down. Once they examined her, Perry told Rain that he removed the bullets from her shoulder and leg. “But you’ve got a cracked rib and a concussion.”
“You have a nasty gash on the back of your head that required stitches,” Glenda informed her.
“You need to take it easy for a couple of days,” Perry said as he injected something in her IV bag. “But I know that you won’t, so this should relax you for a while.”
“But you lost blood, Rain. You’re weak from that and you have a concussion.” She pleadingly looked at Yarissa. “At least try to get some rest.”
Yarissa laughed to herself. Like I could stop her from getting out of that bed if she wanted to, she thought as Rain started to get out of bed.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Perry asked.
“Somebody tried to kill me. I can’t stay here and put you and Glenda in that kind of danger.”
“Where will you go?” Glenda asked.
“I got a place,” Rain said as Yarissa helped to steady her. “Get my clothes and don’t forget my guns.”
Rain was out of bed and walking, but it hurt. Her arm felt like it was going to fall off, pain shot through her leg each time she put pressure on it, and it was hard to breathe. She knew that they were right. Rain really needed t
o lay her ass back down and rest. But at the same time, she knew that she was right, and she needed to get outta there. Since she was only shot in the arm and the leg, she hoped to be back on her feet soon.
Once Glenda got the wheelchair, Rain reluctantly sat down, and they wheeled her out to the Suburban. Dixon and Eddie helped her in and then Dixon got behind the wheel.
“Where are we going?” Yarissa asked.
“I told you, I got a place,” Rain said as they got in. She told Dixon where to go and he started it up.
“I’m going with you,” Glenda said, and she got in the back seat with them.
“No, Glenda. It’s not safe for you,” Rain said.
Glenda shut her door. “Drive,” she said. “And it’s not safe for you if I don’t come with you.”
Dixon looked back, Yarissa nodded her head and he drove on. As instructed, he drove about an hour out of the city to a modest three-story row house in a nice neighborhood. When they got there, Yarissa woke Rain from her nod, and she told her the code and she got out to open the garage. Dixon and Eddie got Rain out of the Suburban, took her upstairs to a bedroom on the third level and Yarissa and Glenda made her comfortable.
“Who lives here?” Yarissa asked.
“I grew up here,” Rain replied. The Robinson family lived in that house until Rain was twelve before they moved. When Rain saw that it had gone on the market a few years ago, she bought it to use as a hideaway and for sentimental reasons.
Yarissa looked around quickly. “Oh.”
Rain laughed. “What?”
“Just having problems seeing Rain Robinson as a little girl, that’s all.”
Rain gave her the finger. “I need you to call Carter. I need to see him.”
Yarissa smiled. “Does he know where this place is?”
She had seen the way Rain looked at Carter when he wasn’t looking; enough to know that she wanted him. And since Rain usually got what Rain wanted, Yarissa thought that it was an appropriate question.
“No, he doesn’t, so let him know, and make sure that he knows to keep it quiet. The fewer people that know what’s going on and where I am, the better.” Rain said.
When Carter got the call from Yarissa, he was at Romans and had just heard about what happened at Conversations from Jackie. Naturally, Carter was the first person that Mileena called as soon as they drove Rain away from J.R.’s. He had been keeping quiet about it as Rain requested, but had been monitoring the situation with Rain through Mileena and Rose.
After letting Chao Hassan know that Rain was all right, Carter got two of his men, Sean and Zack, left Romans and headed to the address that Yarissa gave him. What Carter didn’t realize at the time, was that he was being followed.
When they pulled off, Brooks started up the Nissan Armada that he was driving and followed. As ordered, he, Busta and Martel were looking for a place to hit Carter.
When Carter arrived at the house, he told Sean and Zack to wait while he went inside to talk. Since they didn’t know what happened to Rain, they had no idea where they were or what they were doing there. When the bell rang, Yarissa went to open the door to let Carter in the house.
“Hey, Carter.”
Yarissa always thought Carter was one fine ass man and she wouldn’t mind getting with him, but he was her best friend’s man, but that’s what an active fantasy life is for, she thought and led him to the stairs.
“How is she?” Carter asked as he followed Yarissa upstairs.
Carter thought that Yarissa was fine and wouldn’t mind going up in her, but she was Mileena’s friend, so Carter was content to admire the sheer beauty of Yarissa’s ass. Marveling at the swaying of her hips, and the way each cheek seemed to jump out at him with every step she took.
It’s practically begging me to reach out and grab a handful.
When they walked in the room, Glenda was in the room with Rain. She had given her a mild sedative in an attempt to keep Rain still for a while, so she had nodded off.
Glenda’s eyes opened wide when she saw Carter come in the room. She hadn’t seen him in years and didn’t know that he had gotten out. Not wanting to wake Rain, she got up quietly and approached.
Carter smiled when he saw Glenda coming.
“How you doing, Glenda?” he asked and hugged her politely. Surprised, but not shocked to see her there.
Glenda kissed Carter on the cheek. “I’m fine, Carter,” she said and then she put a little distance between them. “I didn’t know you were out.”
“Couple of months now,” Carter said as Rain began to stir. “How’s your patient?”
“I’m fine,” Rain said before Glenda could answer.
Carter looked at the bandages around Rain’s head and shoulder, and then his eyes traveled down, and he looked at the bandage wrapped around Rain’s thigh and smiled.
“So you say,” Carter said and walked toward the bed. “But those bandages tell me that you ain’t exactly running out in front today.”
“Still, that’s the word. I’m fine. Understand?”
“Understood,” Carter said and sat down in the chair next to the bed. “Any idea who hit you?”
“No. You hear what happened at Conversations?”
“I had just got off the phone with Jackie when Yarissa called. She said she woulda been there, but her and Baby Chris went to visit Flip.”
“What was up with that?” Rain asked.
Carter looked at Yarissa and Glenda.
“We’re going,” Yarissa said, and Glenda followed her out of the room, closing the door behind them.
“She whacked Flip tonight.”
“About fuckin’ time. She say what finally set her off?”
“Nope. Just said that she had enough of his shit.”
Rain laughed, but the shit hurt, so she winced in pain.
“Seriously, Rain, you all right?”
“I will be. But I need you to get out in front of this. Find out what the fuck is going on and who’s at us,” Rain commanded.
“I will.” Carter stood up. “You get some rest.”
When Carter left the room, Glenda and Yarissa were waiting outside the door.
“How is she really?” Carter asked and Glenda explained Rain’s condition.
“Yarissa!” Rain shouted.
Knowing that Black and Shy were vacationing in Fiji with Bobby and Pam, there was somebody Rain needed to talk to.
“Let me get in there and see what she wants,” Yarissa said, observing the body language between Carter and Glenda and went in the room, leaving Glenda alone to escort Carter out.
“What you need, Rain?” Yarissa asked when she came in the room.
“I need you to call Wanda.”
Chapter Ten
Squatting over him in her four inch Jimmy Choo stilettos, Wanda rode his dick with skill. James was not allowed to touch her, her rules, so his fists were clenched at his side as he watched his dick disappear only to appear again even slicker than before.
Her pussy swallowed him whole, her full round hips, ample, cushioning each downward stroke against his hip bone, making his toes curl. James wanted badly to grab her ass and she knew it. Her red lips curved into a smile as she shook her head at him.
“Uh, uh, uh, no touching, remember?”
Damn, he remembered, but it wasn’t right. Especially when Wanda started to really get off on him, going faster and faster, her wetness running down the back of his balls, settling on his three thousand count crème colored Egyptian cotton sheets.
Wanda ran her fingers through her hair and held them there, showing her amazing strength as a rider. When James felt her pussy start to grab and release around him, he began to pump upwards to help her reach her climax. She shuddered and screamed, collapsing on top his chest.
“I should have told you, no moving either,” Wanda said with a smile once she caught her breath.
“Are you really complaining?” James asked.
Leaning up, she reached his lips, pressing against th
em with her own.
“No, not at all,” she said and looked into his eyes.
His name was James Austin and Wanda was in love with him.
Inspired by Thurgood Marshall, James Austin decided to dedicate his life to practicing law. He felt the law was his chance to work for what he believed in and considered to be right. After passing the bar, James took a job in Los Angeles as a deputy city attorney in the criminal division. Two years later, James entered private practice; he opened his own firm, only to return to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office.
Five years later, James returned to private practice; opening The Austin Law Firm, which has grown to have regional offices located in twenty states. He had been working out of his New York office for the last two years, focusing his attention on international law; advising and in some cases, representing clients in court.
James being an international lawyer was one of the first things that attracted Wanda, you mean other than his broad shoulders and that chest, especially when he said that his practice included international commerce and trade.
According to Monika, he had been married once. James married Lisa, a fellow lawyer, while he was working in the District Attorney's office.
When he left the DA’s office, he and Lisa opened The Austin Law Firm together. They have four children that live with their mother in Los Angeles.
Prior to their divorce three years ago, his net worth was estimated at nine point seven million dollars, of which, Lisa took half. Since then, James had done a better job of hiding his assets.
When Wanda felt his thickness twitching inside of her, she began to move. But before allowing her to take the lead again, James told her to get on her knees. She rocked her hips a few more times before easing off of him. Wanda got on her knees and crawled around the bed like a lioness stalking her prey.
Once Wanda settled into a good spot at the edge of the bed, James got behind her, slapping her cheek once before prying her legs apart with his knee and with one swift pump, he was inside of her again.
He could feel Wanda's juices drenching his balls as she began grinding her hips into James. He held onto her hips and slammed his dick into her as hard as he could. Wanda’s phone began to ring, and she knew it was Yarissa calling from the ringtone.
