When A Hood Legend Claims It All 3 Page 6

I was confident that he was serious about being with me, but looking at the pictures had reality setting in and the idea of the baby possibly changing things between them made my stomach turn.

My insides felt like they were being squeezed. I don’t know why I was digging when it wasn’t making me feel any better. Was I really insecure?

“I get it, Mena, but I think the only thing you can do is give him the benefit of the doubt and stay off that girls page. You’re going to always be upset the love of your life gave her a child,” Sharita explained. “Now it’s a matter of letting time ease your insecurities and I’m sure you will learn to trust Wesley. He’s not giving you a reason to not trust him, right?”

I shook my head. “No, we’ve been pretty good lately. I just hate knowing there’s another woman in the picture even if he’s not doing anything with her. There’s still a connection.” As I rambled on and on about Wesley and his co-partnership with his son’s mother, I realized I sounded more crazy than I thought, so I changed the subject. “So how are you and Kenton doing?”

Rita blushed instantly rolling her eyes to the top of her head.

  “We’re cool.”

“More than cool with that smile on your face,” CoCo responded nudged Rita which had a full-blown smile to show up on her face.

Despite my worrisome ways, It had me feeling good. Love was addicting man, and we all were head over hills with these men that were running Philly. I couldn’t wait for the time to come where I could be out in the open and can scream from the hill tops that I loved Wesley with everything in me.

“Are y’all hungry?” Rita asked. “I was thinking about ordering some Chinese.”

I nodded my head and CoCo made a face. “Thinking about Chinese makes my stomach hurt.”

“What? Why?” Rita asked opening up the brochure.

She shook her head. “I don’t know why, but lately I haven’t had much of an appetite.”

I smiled big at her and she shook her head. “Oh, hell no!”

“Oh, hell yes! I’m sure you and Mar been knocking the boots.”

“Yes, we do, but I’m on depo. No kids for me.”

“And who said that was a hundred percent effective?” Rita questioned her.

“Both y’all bitches leave me alone. Y’all both are damn near step-mothers, so that’s enough children in the circle. Don’t wish no pregnancy on me,” she replied running off so we couldn’t finish harassing her.

The Chinese came and we ate, and I eventually went home disappointed that I checked my phone and saw that Wesley didn’t respond to my message. I hated I got these nagging feelings of wondering if he was really handling business or with Kesha rubbing her stomach.

Pulling up to the gate of my home, I sighed when I saw Jake’s Cadillac sitting at the entrance. I can't remember the last time I heard from him. Shit, I had hope the chick he was kissing on was good enough to take his mind off me, apparently that wasn’t the case.

“Can you move?” I asked sticking my head out of the window after rolling it down.

His car door swung open and he stepped out approaching my car. “Not until you talk to me.”

Everything about him irritated me now. I was officially at that stage of asking myself what the hell I was thinking by even being with him.

“We have nothing to talk about, now go.”

When he got closer to my car, I stuck my head back in my car and rolled up the window. He was halfway to me before he rushed back to his car and peeled off. Confused and happy I didn’t have to hear him beg, I checked my rearview mirror and saw Wesley’s Range behind my car.

My lips turned up into a smile noticing he was here. After punching in my code and I pulled into the gate with him right behind me. He was out his car just as fast as I got out of mine. The smile fell from my lips seeing his handsome face balled up.

When he got to me, he pinned my body against my car towering over me.

“What the fuck was that?” He was gritting his teeth so hard, I was sure his jaw ached.

Taken aback, my eyebrows furrowed. “I just literally pulled up not to long before you and saw Jake at the gate. He doesn’t have my code and he probably was waiting for me to return. His number is on my block list, so I have no way to contact him and vice versa. Don’t tell me you’re jealous.”

Despite the fact that Wesley had a serious look on his face, I was smirking. It was cute that he was in his feelings over my ex. Especially since I was jealous over Kesha carrying his baby. After studying my face, his expression softened, and he pecked my lips.

“You know I don’t play when it comes to you.”

I circled my arms around his neck and pressed another kiss on his lips. I couldn’t get enough of him. It felt good knowing he had a jealous streak as well.

“Yes. As long as you know the feeling is mutual everything will be fine.”

“You saw how fast that muhfucka ran off?” he laughed. “It looked like he wanted to leave his car.”

We both laughed because Jake indeed looked like he seen a ghost.

“You gotta stop fucking with that boy. He gonna tell his parents.”

“And what the fuck they gonna do to me?” he asked back and I shook my head. His attitude was unbelievable. If I didn’t know the affectionate side of him, I highly doubt I’d even give him the time of day. “I told you about any nigga that think they can have you.”

Getting up off my, I simply rolled my eyes and held his hand in my hand as I led the way to my house.

Even though I had worrisome moments about the family he created I was finally at ease knowing he was here with me. After being all in my head about Kesha and the baby, it felt good knowing he had slight insecurities as well. I hated to have negative thoughts though because the situation wasn’t going to change. It would take some getting used to, but it was easier with a little reassurance and time.

  CoCo

Stepping into the house, I took my shoes off and placed my bag on the couch. My feet were aching, and I really couldn’t wait to get something to eat and lay down. It was crazy how I didn’t have an appetite all day, but I automatically got one now that I was home.

The first stop I made was to the bathroom where I went to relieve my bladder. It felt like I’d drunk a gallon of water and been holding it all day. After wiping, I flushed and went to the sink where I washed my hands. The bathroom door opened, and Mar emerged looking at me from head to toe with a smirk on his face.

I narrowed my eyes at him. “You look like you’re up to no good,” I said smiling to myself. “I thought you were going to be home late.”

“I was.” His hands clasped around my waist and he pulled me in crashing his lips against mine. “But I made sure shit got done fast so I could make it home before you. I know I’ve been coming home late and you’ve been patient as fuck with me.”

“Yes, but I trust you.” I stared into his eyes and toyed with the kinky curls on his head. He was so perfect.

“It ain’t only about trust. You can get tired of being home alone.”

I nodded my head remembering how I was at my breaking point with Pitt. “You’re right about that. You always remember me though.”

“There’s no way I can forget you. I can have a million things to worry about, but you always happen to stay in my mind.”

I raised an eyebrow. “You’re up to something.”

“How? I can’t let my girl know how much she means to me?” He pressed another kiss on my lips. “I made reservations at Ruth Chris. You have an hour to get yourself together.”

  “Wait… what?”

“You heard me. Get yourself together so we can go eat.”

Mar tapped me on my ass and left me standing in the bathroom heading down the stairs. I heard his voice, so I assumed he went and got on his phone. I left out of the bathroom and went searching in the guest bedroom for something to wear.

Since making this house my home I never had the chance to move my things into his room. I
didn’t want to invade his space especially since his belongings took over the closet.

I settle for a simple black dress with a heart neckline and heeled sandals. You couldn’t go wrong with a black dress. It went well for almost every occasion that didn’t require a color code.

After wrapping my hair, I got inside of the shower, I got clean, and smoothed my body with Shea butter. Not really into jewelry, I settled for hoops and a necklace before slipping my feet into the sandals. The last thing I grabbed was my clutch.

A smile tugged at the corner of Mar’s lips as I descended the stairs. His piercing eyes gazed at me so intensely that my body shuddered with every step.

He stood to his feet and extended his hand towards me. His long athletic frame was clothed in black as well. The V-neck shirt clung to his broad shoulders and bulging biceps. I laced my fingers into his and stepped in close where he trailed a series of kisses to my cheek and neck.

“You smell good,” he murmured in the crook of my neck, reminding me I actually didn’t put any perfume on.

“That’s crazy because I don't have on anything but lotion.”

He lifted his head. “I don’t know. That’s a good thing. If we stand here any longer though, I’m going to have pussy for dinner.”

  My inside bubbled with excitement.

“As much as I would love to have your face buried between my legs, I’m actually hungry.”

We both left out of the house and made our way to the restaurant in his car. Mar was a complete gentleman opening up my doors and holding my hand as he used his left hand to steer the car.

I snuck glances at him admiring the way his beard was perfectly lined and how the muscles in his arms flexed as he turned the steering wheel. It was sexy. Shit, everything was sexy about him.

“You keep staring, I’m going to pull over and make you sit on this,” he spoke up, moving our interlocked hands to his hardness.

I bit my lip hard around the smile that tugged at my mouth. Moving my clutch to the side of me, I released my hand out of his grip and fumbled with his zipper. He lifted up to make it easier for me to pull it down and reach for what was hidden behind the material.

Once he was free, I lowered my head into his lap pushing his length into my mouth savoring every inch of him. A groan escaped his lips as I slurped up and down his shaft making sure to hum every time his sensitive tip hit my throat.

His hand massaged my scalp as I bobbed up and down in his lap until I felt his dick swell in my hands and his seeds seeped into my mouth. I swallowed and sat back up in my seat and he adjusted himself with a satisfied smirk on his face.

“That’s what we doing now? Tonight is supposed to be about you and you’re taking my shine,” he asked.

  “I couldn’t help myself.”

I leaned over and kissed his cheek and reclaimed his hand again.

Arriving at the restaurant, we got out allowing Valet to park the car. Once inside, we were seated right away and ordered our food along with water as our drinks.

  “How’s business?” he asked me.

“Fine. Busy as hell. I think I need to hire more nail technicians. Business will be better if I had designated tech for manicures and pedicures. The customers aren’t complaining but I hate to have people waiting.”

The waitress returned with our glasses of water. I thanked her and took a sip of my drink. Mar did the same.

“Have you put more thought into opening a new location?”

I nodded my head. “Yes, but I’m so busy.”

“I can always help you out you know. I ain’t scrubbing no crusty ass feet, but I know a real estate agent that can look into some buildings for you. Then we can hire an interior decorator to get all that shit together.”

“That would be helpful, but make sure the rent ain’t super high. These people want an arm and a leg for everything nowadays.”

Mar eyed me with a knot between his brows. “Who said we were renting anything?”

“I have money, but not enough to buy a building for my salon.”

“You do have the money. If I got it, you got it,” he stated. “If you’re serious we can start off one area at a time. You hire more people at your salon and actually make it six days a week rather than seven days, so you can have time to rest.”

“Wait. Wait. Wait. You’re moving too fast,” I smiled. “What makes you think I’m okay with you buying a bunch of buildings for me?”

“You’ll be crazy not to let me. I hope you’re not thinking I’d do some shit ya ex did.”

I moved my head from side to side. “That’s not it. That’s just a lot of money.”

“And I have a lot of it. What kind of man would I be to not invest in my woman?”

The waitress returned with our food this time and placed it in front of us. He waited for her to leave before he responded.

“It’s not just about investing. I’m aware of what you do and I’m sure you can’t just pop up with money to buy a building and you don’t have proof of how you got that large lump sum.”

He released a sexy chuckle as he dug into his food. “Why you think I got Amena? Like I said, I’m doing this all for you. I have people in high places including banks. We get you approved for a loan for the building. The payments will be made twice a month increasing your score, so when you go look into a third place you can open it up in cash or take out another loan on your own. The choice is yours but it’s a win either way you do it. Your business is booming and it’s not a reason to sleep on it.”

“Sounds like you got it all figured out.”

“I do,” he winked. “I love you and care about you so much. I want to see you win whether it’s with or without me.”

Now I had a broad smile on my face. “It’s always going to be with you babe. I’m just excited that you’re so willing to invest in my business with no strings attached.”

“No doubt,” he coolly said. “That ain’t the only thing I’m trying to invest in.”

I dipped my fork into my mashed potatoes and brought my eyes up when I felt he was eerily quiet, and my eyes landed on the teal colored box in his hands that every women loved.

My eyes got as wide as saucers as he pushed the chair back from the table and circled around it to come to me. Time stood still and it almost felt like I couldn’t breathe as he got down on one knee, pulling the top of the box open to reveal the most extravagant ring I ever laid eyes on.

Covering my mouth with my hands, my eyes watered staring at the double halo diamond ring.

“I’m not even sure what to say but being with you and knowing I can barely spend a few hours away I know I need you in my life forever. Can you marry a young nigga, so I know you’re here to stay?”

He smirked and I bust out laughing at the last part. It was so sweet until he added that part, but that was every bit of Amare.

Nodding my head laughing with tears pouring from my eyes, I held my left hand out and he took the ring out of the box and slipped it on my finger. It was the perfect fit. We both stood and I kissed him so passionately forgetting we were in a room full of people until the entire restaurant erupted in a round of applause. My cheeks were burning hot from smiling so hard.

  “I can’t believe it.”

“That big ass ring on your finger and you still in shock,” he laughed taking his seat and digging back into his food.

“Smart ass. How you know you really want to get married? It came out of nowhere.”

“Really? You gonna ask that question after you said yes. I’m not doing no take backs,” he playfully said cutting into his steak. He stabbed it with his fork and then shoved a piece of it into his mouth.

I was so overjoyed and excited I could barely eat. I took pictures of my ring and sent it to Rita and Amena in our group chat. When I did finally decide to eat my food, I felt this queasy feeling in my stomach.

Amare noticed my facial expression right away.

  “You cool?”

“Yes. I think I decided to ea
t my food too late, it’s cold.”

“People don’t look like they’re about to throw up because their food is cold.” He was giving me the same look Amena did earlier. It had me shaking my head.

“Don’t start with me. I know if something taste weird I ain’t eating it. Besides I’m all worked up from this,” I said waving my left hand in the air.

He chuckled and I asked for a to-go plate. I was worn out from work and this excitement of becoming Mrs. Davis. I was ready to curl up under my man. Sex was nice, but a bitch was exhausted.

After getting my food and packing it in a to go box we left out of the restaurant hand in hand no longer just boyfriend and girlfriend.

Just like the car ride coming up we held onto each other, this time I was curled up in the passenger seat staring at my ring.

I thought I loved Pitt, but it couldn’t have been love because I never envisioned this for us.

“You think we need to go stop at a CVS?” he questioned me breaking me out of my daze.

  “For?”

  “A test.”

“You sound just like your sister. I’m not pregnant Mar, you even said it that I over work myself and I explained that the food got nasty.”

“It doesn’t hurt to check. I’ve been shooting up the club since we got together. There’s no way you’re not knocked up.”

His comment had me cutting my eyes at him. “So, you’ve been plotting on me.”

“Nah…” he laughed. “But even if you were it just makes sense. You’re going to be my wife soon, why not add mother to the title?”

“You don’t want me to yourself for a few more years.”

Amare got quiet as he tried to think about the right answer. All he could do was smile. I’ve noticed that’s all he’s been doing all night.

“I’m good with sharing you. Only with my son or daughter,” he clarified with an underlying threat.

“It sounds good, but I’m not pregnant. Not yet at least.”

I leaned over and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Amare had his ways, but I knew his love was real. There was no way I would be able to deny being with him forever.
