“So, what’s keeping you from taking Dr. Sargent’s place at Somerville?” he asked.
“I haven’t thought it through, yet,” she said with a huge yawn.
“Maybe this will help. I have a confession to make,” he said.
She perked up. “And what is that?”
“I like and esteem your poetry. I admit I was a bit put out by the fact that you bested me with the Penwyth Life and didn’t give you a fair review. I was pretty pathetic. But now that I’ve gotten to know you, I do feel that you can do even better. I don’t think you’ve fully explored the depth of your talent.”
A feeling like warm honey rose inside her, and she nodded against his shoulder. “You’re right. I’ve been holding back. Cleaving to convention because I’ve been too afraid to expose myself completely. Afraid of Dr. Chenowith’s censure, as a matter of fact.”
“I suspected that. But now she and the dean are both gone from Somerville. You can settle in and make a place for yourself there. Set yourself up as an authority.”
“You just want me to write good reviews of your stuff,” she said with a chuckle.
“That, too,” he said.
She laughed again, and he lowered his head to kiss her most thoroughly.
Umm. That’s nice. Canoodling at its finest.
“I’ll give it a year,” she said. Then she went back to kissing Dr. Harry.

About the Author
G.G. Vandagriff is a traditionally published author who has gone Indie. She loves the Regency period, having read Georgette Heyer over and over since she was a teen. Currently, she has thirteen Regency titles in print, but she writes other things, too. In 2010, she received the Whitney Award for Best Historical Novel for her epic, The Last Waltz: A Novel of Love and War. She has also written Romantic Suspense, and her mystery fans are always urging her to write another book featuring her wacky genealogical sleuths, Alex and Briggie. Her latest work is a 1930’s Golden Age mystery series.
She studied writing at Stanford University and received her master’s degree at George Washington University. Though she has lived in many places throughout the country, she now lives with her husband, David, a lawyer and a writer, on the bench of the Wasatch Mountains in Utah. From her office, she can see a beautiful valley, a lake, and another mountain range. She and David have three children and seven adventurous grandchildren.
