Then he walked out of the office leaving Yosi to stare after him with his jaw hanging down to the floor.

  EPILOGUE

“Daddy, Daddy,” Harry yelled from somewhere in the house. By the sound of his voice he was heading toward Kylo’s office.

When he came flying through the office door, nearly not stopping and slamming into the desk, Kylo couldn’t help but chuckle. That was Harry. Exuberant didn’t even begin to describe him.

“What is it, Harry?” he asked the little boy who had officially become Yosi and Kylo’s just two months earlier. All the paperwork had been filled out and they were now a family. Something Kylo still had to pinch himself to believe.

“Papa said we could go down to the cove and swim.” Harry was jumping up and down excitedly.

“No,” Yosi said as he strode into the room. “What I said is, if your daddy is done working, we could all go down to the cove.”

Harry’s big brown eyes silently pleaded with him as Harry asked, “Are you done working, Daddy?”

Like he could say no, even if he wasn’t done. “I just finished up, actually. How about we take a picnic basket and have some lunch while we’re down there?”

Harry was now not only jumping up and down but clapping too. “Swimming and a picnic? Can we bring extra in case there are others down there, too?”

Kylo smiled at his son, then looked up at Yosi. “What do you think? Maybe make it a celebration of sorts. It is a special day.”

Yosi frowned and narrowed his eyes as if he were thinking. “Special day? What are you talking about? It isn’t a holiday.”

That was true, but it was still important, not that Yosi knew anything about it. Kylo had worked with Jazz and Saber to make his surprise happen.

He pulled a piece of paper from the printer and handed it to Yosi. “Maybe we should make it one.”

Yosi read the words on the page, then blinked. Kylo could tell he started at the top again to reread what was there. “You can read it as many times as you like, but it still says the same thing. It is official. Your island has now been named, Salvation Isle.”

Yosi wrapped his arms around Kylo and spun him around before kissing him soundly.

“Gross,” Harry said. “No kissing allowed.”

Both Kylo and Yosi chuckled as they broke apart. But it was Yosi who tousled Harry’s hair and said, “Sorry kiddo, but I think you’re going to see us kissing a lot today. Your daddy did something very sweet for your papa and I’m going to show him how much I love him with kisses.”

Harry let out a heavy sigh and rolled his eyes. “Fine, but then I get to bring marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers to make smores.”

That only had Kylo laughing harder. “You got it. Now, let’s go to the kitchen and see what we can do about planning a celebration for the whole island.”

Harry dashed from the room, calling to Coral and Deniz, who worked in Yosi’s kitchen, about the party.

Yosi took complete advantage and kissed Kylo soundly. “You sure you’re up for a party?” Yosi asked. “You were hurting last night and this morning, don’t think I didn’t notice you were moving a bit slower.”

It had been ten months since he’d been burned. The worst of the wounds were finally beginning to make some progress in healing, but they had a long way to go. Kylo still had some bad days when the pain became too much, but he had too many reasons to live his life on his own terms to let it get him down.

“With you by my side, my mate, I can do anything.” And that was something Kylo believed in fully.

“I feel the same way,” Yosi told him before taking another kiss.

That was something Yosi had proven to him when they’d recently flew to Chile to rescue a dolphin and seal that an alpha had tried to kill. It wasn’t for being gay, although they were, but because they were two different shifters.

It still bewildered him that anyone would care about how other people lived their lives. The world was crazy, but Kylo had found a way to live life to the fullest, even if it meant Coloring Outside the Lines.
