Story of the Century Page 15

by Tom Norton

Six days after John and Hendrick walked into Bill’s office they returned and took a seat. John was carrying a brief case that he opened and he laid a picture in front of Bill. He then laid a stack of printed pages and additional small photos.

John asked, “Do you have a place to sleep in this building?”

Not taking his eyes off the pictures, he pointed to a door in his office and said, “Beer in the frig.”

The next day The London Times hit the news stand with a dramatic front page that stated, “ATLANTIS FOUND.”

Directly below the headlines was a large picture of a group of people wearing white hard hats and standing in front of a drilling derrick that had Masters and Miller on it. The people in the picture were shaking each other’s hands and smiling and directly below the image the text identified the individuals as; the Prime Minister of England, Chancellor of Germany and the Presidents of Poland, Italy, France and Iceland. Others included Professors John Thomas, Professor Mathew Hendrick and a student named Rick Hansen.

The newspaper story was quite lengthy without many details, but stated that what had concluded with the discovery of Atlantis was a discovery as significant. Twenty five thousand year old Neanderthal bones had been discovered by the above professors and student and it was their intent to document the entire excavation on video. The excavation was a lengthy process and because of this the discovery was kept in secrecy.

To the amazement of the three archeologists above, there was evidence that the prehistoric Neanderthal had experienced brain surgery twenty five thousand years ago and there was evidence that those who performed this surgery were from Iceland.

Running low on resources for further documentation and research in this matter, the professors contacted Masters and Miller based in London who they knew were performing core drilling in Iceland through depths that were twenty five thousand years old. With the cooperation of political leaders of the above countries, their personal funding and helping with any issues that would restrict the research and transporting of the artifacts across national borders, an agreement was made by all that the entire research would be performed in strict secrecy and not become a political football.

Masters and Miller assisted by a few educators from the University of Iceland, drilled through the twenty five thousand year depth of ancient lava and ash and recovered samples for examination. In these samples was potential evidence of an ancient culture. Because the sample from the core drill was so small it was inconclusive, but this evidence was carbon dated to the same time period as the Neanderthal skeleton of twenty-five thousand years ago.

With effort by some in the Iceland government and at great expense to Masters and Miller, a one meter hole was drilled to depth and a larger sample recovered. Examination of this sample and further excavations into the drill hole wall revealed absolute proof of an ancient technologically advance culture. Examples of this proof are jewelry beads and pearls, technologically advanced hand tools and instruments as well as other items one might find around a mine site.

This being the case, Masters and Miller pursued permits and mineral lease rights on any minerals in the area. This being accomplished, Masters and Miller committed four million pounds for the incurred expenses of the professors and twelve students from the original Neanderthal site and for pursuing the excavation of Atlantis artifacts and for a documentary they are producing.

This is but a part of the story, because as big a story is how all these people accomplished all of this without a whisper of it being known to people other than themselves. The finished documentary which is being produce by the three archeologists and kept under wraps, will be available for theater showings some time in the spring.

Hendrick looked up from the paper and said to John and Rick, “We have a lot of dots to connect.”

John said, “Piece of cake. Rick, get me a beer will you?”
