by Tammi Lynn

Roman is the first to say anything “Let me take a wild guess, you were with Mia?”

I smile around the beer bottle, taking a long swig. “You guess correct.”

“You mean you weren’t too embarrassed to hang out with her today?” Huh?

“Shit, what did I do? Other than waking up in her bed naked this morning while she and Cade were fully clothed I don’t really remember much of last night.”

They really start laughing now. Jayson answers first. “Dude you were practically passed out in her lawn yelling Wilson at the top of your lungs. The whole neighborhood probably heard you.”

Cade throws another one of the throw pillows at me. “Yeah fucker, then she had me help her get you inside her room, where you decided to put on a show and start swinging your dick around. I’ll never get that damn image burned from my brain.”

Now I start to laugh. Hmm, I guess it could have been worse. Finishing up my beer, I stand to throw it away and head upstairs. I can use another nap, and I hear my bed calling me. Before I get a couple feet up the stairs, Cade stops me. “Did she see the tire?”

“Yeah man, she said thank you.”

“Did you tell her I was pissed her spare was flat?”

“Sure did, she’s hanging out with Miklo now, but good luck with that later.”

“Good.” He smirks, and I give him a grin before continuing on to my room.

I had a perfect time with her today, talking all the way there and seeing her smile lit up her face as I told her stories of the guys and I. Then on the way back talking with Miklo. I really like the kid. I never grew up with my dad, and I can see a little of the same pain in him that I always hideaway. The way he didn’t really want to talk about his trip and started to talk about basketball instead. We have plans tomorrow for him to come over and I showed him a few things about basketball.

  I'm looking forward to it.

  Chapter Twelve

  Kidnapped Kid

After I came inside Miklo and I decided to spend the rest of the evening playing video games. He told me all about his trip hanging out with his dad and brothers and getting to play with his baby sister. That was the first time he ever stayed a full week with them. After eating a late but quick dinner of bean burros Miklo was out before nine. The day traveling must have worn him out. I get him up to head into his room and make sure the front door is locked before heading into mine.

When I get into some pj’s and climb into bed, I can’t help but feel a little alone. For the past week, I have had someone in my bed, helping warm it. It feels too cold now, and I snuggle down into the covers. I’m just about to get back up and turn the TV on, not liking the silence when I hear a tapping at my window.

Going to the closed curtain, I hesitate before pulling it back. It could so be a serial killer on the other side, and I’d be that stupid girl opening the curtain before they broke in and killed me. I shake my head, my thoughts getting away from me. It’s probably just one of the guys. I pull it open slowly, and it is indeed one of the guys, although the murderous look on Cade's face makes me pause. Shit, I forgot he was mad at me. Hmm is he here to punish me?

He puts a finger in front of his lips for me to be quiet and then motions for me to open the window. I fumble with the lock before getting it open, and he helps me slide the window over. He jumps in like its nothing and closes and locks the window back up. I start shaking a little as he stands before me. He’s wearing an unzipped hoodie sweater, his chest on display and a pair of plaid pajama pants that hang low on his waist. He still has that hard look on his face, and I take a step back. He follows me and takes a step forward, his frown turning into a mischievous grin.

Reaching out, he grabs my hand and pulls me into him, my head against his chest, and his arms around me. I sigh against him. I love being in his arms. He walks me backwards toward the bed and then turns to sit on it, leaving me standing in front of him. “Go turn on some music, and come back to me.”

I go and turn my radio on, and slow jams start pouring through the speakers. My body starts to shake again in anticipation, arousal coursing through my body as I walk back over to him. I stop when I’m standing between his open legs. Looking me over, his hands find my thighs, and they start rubbing up and down them, teasing just under my short pajama shorts. My legs wobble, and he grips on tight to my legs, keeping me up. “Stay still Baby Girl.” Moving his hands back around, he curls his thumb at the crotch of my shorts, pulling them and my underwear aside. The cold air against my hot skin is short-lived as he places his mouth before my mound, blowing his hot breath over me.

“Cade.” I go to take a handful of his hair, but he leans back and places my hands back at my sides

“Ssh, quiet, and stay still.” I groan at his admonishment, and he looks up at me with an eyebrow raised.

Daring me to defy him. I smile stubbornly back at him. Shaking his head, he leans forward once again, this time running his tongue once between my folds before leaning back again and releasing my shorts. He unties the strings holding them up. “Take these off. Your panties too. ” I do what he says but slowly, moving my hips a little with the music.

I see the heat in his eyes as he pulls me down over his legs once I’ve gotten my bottoms off. My ass is practically in the air, and I’m leaning over him my hands covering my mouth trying to keep quiet. With one arm resting over my back, he slowly starts running his other hand over my ass cheeks. He slips a finger inside me, and my pussy clenches around him before he slides it back out. I let out a moan into my hand. “I can’t believe you’ve been driving around with a flat spare.” He slaps my left cheek sending both pleasure and pain through me at the same time, before pressing it gently and slipping a finger back inside me. Once again, I clench around him and have to hold my hands tighter to my mouth to keep from making a sound. “You could have had a flat anywhere and been stranded, any crazy fuck stopping to help you.” I can hear more worry for me in his voice than anger as he slaps my right cheek this time. This time I can’t help the moan from escaping my lips as he once again slips his fingers inside me.

His body tensed, and I can feel his cock go fully hard beneath me. Removing his hand, he stands me up, before getting up himself. Grabbing the bottom of my shirt, he lifts it up and over my head, followed by unclasping and removing my bra. He removes his pants and boxers, before kissing me hungrily. I try to wrap my arms around my waist, but he stops them and wraps them around his neck instead. Leaning down, he takes my nipple into his mouth, and I arch into him, wanting him to take more. I’m rewarded with him flicking his tongue over and over my hard nub at a fast pace. I grab onto the hoody at the back of his neck and hold him to me.

He grabs onto my ass before standing back straight and lifts me up, my legs wrapping around his torso. I slide his sweater down his arms, and he removes it one at a time, keeping hold of me. He starts to walk forward until my back hits the wall opposite the side with the door. I pull his head forward and kiss him hard, my tongue moving with his. His cock is sitting at my entrance, and I can feel myself getting wetter and wetter for him. I wrap my legs tighter around him, trying to pull him closer. He doesn’t make me wait long as with one quick thrust he’s inside me. I cry out his name, causing him to cover my mouth with one hand and still inside me.

We both don’t make a sound, breathing softly and listening for any noise on the other side of the door. He slowly starts moving in and out of me, keeping his hand over my mouth as I whimper against it. He starts to thrust faster, and I hold on tighter, my orgasm starting to build like a storm, starting in my middle and spreading out through my body. He stops inside me for a moment, slowly sliding us down the wall until he’s sitting on his calves. Unwrapping my legs from around him I put my knees down on either side of him as he leans back onto his hands, letting me get a better angle to start moving up and down and against him. I ride him hard, my clit rubbing against his pelvis, the friction bringing me to climax in no time. Just as I’m about to cry out, Cade leans up a
nd wraps one arm around my waist, the other once again covering my mouth. He thrusts upward into me hard as I moan and ride out my release, and he starts to jerk against me coming deep inside. I fall against him, laying my head on his chest as I gather my breath.

He hugs me too him before moving me aside and standing up. He reaches down to pull me up with him and then reaches under my legs, picking me up and walking over to the bed. “Let’s get some sleep Baby Girl.” He lays me down on the bed and then crawls over me to the other side. Instead of sleeping with my back to him, I snuggle in close with my forehead against his chest, and my leg was thrown over one of his. I fall asleep to the sound of his heart beat along with the sound of the music still flowing from the stereo.

The next morning I quickly peak in Miklo's room to make sure he’s still asleep. We accidentally slept in till ten and were afraid he’d already be up. He’s out to the world, his hands thrown up over his head and bent at the elbows, his radio on low. Shutting the door, I open mine and quickly usher Cade to the front door. I don’t know what to tell Miklo yet, so I don’t want him to catch Cade, or any of the guys over here just yet. Stopping at the door, he turns and kisses me. “I’ll see you tonight. Lock the door behind me.”

“Yes, Sir.” With his signature glare, he leans in to steal one more kiss before turning and heading out the door. I lock it behind him and head into the kitchen to start making breakfast.

Knowing the smell of bacon will have Miklo up in no time. I throw some in a pan and start whisking eggs. True to my thoughts, in a few minutes he’s up and sliding onto a stool, his curls going crazy on his head. “Morning Bubbs. Hungry?”

“Starving.” Putting some toast, eggs, and bacon on a plate, I slide it over to him before making my own and sitting on the stool next to his.

  “Any plans for today?”

“Yeah, Jesse said he’d coach me on some basketball. I really want to be ready for tryouts.” I love seeing the excitement in his eyes, this is the first sport he’s wanted to play since he was little and played t-ball.

“Well, that’s cool. Be careful though, I hear he cheats.” I say it with a grin remembering the time not so very long ago I referred a game between him and Roman. Makes the top of my nose itch a little.

He finishes up his late breakfast and runs to his room to get ready. In minutes he’s out the door in a pair of basketball shorts, tennis shoes, and a hoodie sweater. After about two hours of catching up on shows and doing some laundry, I head next door with two bottles of water.

Jesse and Miklo each have their own basketball, dribbling them from one hand to the other. Jesse stops and shows him the best way to keep his hand over the ball. Miklo is paying such close attention to what he’s doing; he doesn’t even see me walk up behind him. “HEY!” I say loudly in his ear making him jump.

  “Mom!”

“Yeah mom, be nice to my little buddy here.” Jesse puts his arm over Miklo's shoulders and laughs.

“Traitor,” I muttered, giving him a glare.

That makes them both start laughing. “Hey, will you do me a favor and go get Roman? I want him to show Lil Man here his jump shot.” He points towards the front door.

“Sure, is he in the living room?” I’ve only been to their house the one time, and um, I didn’t really see much more than the kitchen.

“Nah, I think he’s in his room. Go upstairs, first door to the left.”

Handing each of them bottled water I head inside. Their house is actually pretty huge. From talking with Jesse yesterday, I found out that it has six rooms, two downstairs and four upstairs. Jayson’s room and the one he has made up for when Emma visits are downstairs, and the three remaining guys' rooms are upstairs along with one they have filled with weights. No wonder they are all so built with practically a gym in their house!

I take the stairs slowly looking at all the photos on the wall as I go up. There are some photos of the guys all together in High School, them with their parents, and a lot of baby Emma growing up in all of their hands. Seeing more proof of how close they are pulls at my heartstrings. When I get to the top, I see that the first door to the left is closed. So I walk up to it and knock softly. I hear, “Come in,” from the other side of the door, and so I slowly open it.

“Oh, hey Angel. I was wondering why one of my brothers would be knocking so low.” He takes a pair of glasses off quickly and sets them on the desk he’s sitting at. I can see different logos displayed on his computer and head towards him for a closer look.

“Hey. Jesse asked me to come up and get you. He wants you to show Miklo your jump shot.” When I get over to him, he grabs my waist and pulls me down into his lap, wrapping his arms around me. Looking at him, he reminds me of Don Benjamin or Jackson from Grey’s Anatomy, although Roman's hair is longer his curls sometimes hanging down towards his eyes. I pick the glasses up from the desk and place them back on his face and smile. Roman is purely himself though. Sexy as hell and he has that deep voice that both soothes and lights my body on fire. “I like the glasses, I hate my own though so know how you feel.”

“Yeah, I only really need them when I’m on the computer, so don’t get used to them.” He gives me a smile that has me melting in his lap. I try not to wiggle.

“So what is all this?” I point at the computer noticing the logos all have the two brothers last name Briggs on them. Briggs Construction, Briggs Brothers Construction, and just Briggs.

“Jesse and I are starting our own contracting business, these are just some of the logos we were trying out.”

  “I like Briggs Brothers.”

“That’s the one we’re leaning towards.”

I smile down at him and give him a quick kiss when I notice a picture on his desk. It has to be of him when he was maybe eleven or twelve, with I’m guessing his mom, her arm around him smiling. Where her skin is almost porcelain against his darker complexion, I can still see the similarities in their faces, and they have the same light blue, almost grey eyes. I pick it up for a better look, “Is this your mom? She’s beautiful Roman.”

“Yeah, that’s Mom, Moira Anne Briggs.” He gets the saddest look on his face, and my heart goes out to him.

I set the picture down and wrap my arms around him in a hug, I don’t know what happened, but I can see the pain in his eyes. “It’s ok you don’t have to tell me.”

“No, It’s alright, It happened a long time ago.” I rest my head on his chest, his arms still around me. “We already told you that my dad married Jesse’s mom when we were four?”

“Yeah, and then he adopted Jesse, right?”

“Yeah.” He takes a deep breath before continuing. “My mom and dad weren’t married for very long. They married when they found out they were pregnant with me, but never really got along. Mom was… a little out there, always forgetting things, buying things we didn’t need and ending up places she couldn’t remember getting too. It was when she forgot to pick me up from the babysitters one day that dad had enough. They didn’t find her until two days later, walking barefoot up and down Alki Beach. It was December; she was practically hypothermic and couldn’t remember how she got there. If a couple who had been visiting that day hadn’t seen the news of her missing, they might not have gotten to her in time.” He holds me a little tighter, and I have a hard time keeping the tears from welling up in my eyes. “After getting her situated at a mental hospital to be evaluated, Dad divorced her and got custody of me. They didn’t think it was safe for me to be left alone with her for very long. I was three then and didn’t understand what was going on, I just wanted my mom. A year later my dad married Jesse’s mom, don’t get me wrong I was excited to have her and Jesse around, and I do love her like a mom, but I still didn’t understand why I couldn’t have my own mom around all the time.”

I look up from his chest just as he smiles. “Jesse helped me out a lot. The kid always had a smile on his face, was always making me laugh when I was down and had my back no matter what even if I was at fault. Back then, I
didn’t realize that his smile was hiding his own pain at the same time. Jesse’s never known his own father, he was some drummer in a band his mom had a one night stand with after a concert. He loves Dad like he’s been his own from the beginning, but he’s never gotten over never knowing his blood father. Being a class clown and always making others laugh is how he hides his own pain.” He shakes his head a little. “I probably shouldn’t have told you that about him, but it’s probably something you should know. He sees a bit of himself in Miklo, knows a little of what he goes through.”

“They do seem pretty close already.” I smile, Miklo needs someone like that around, well as long as they are going to stay around. Thinking of how little Dre has actually been there in the past thirteen years makes me grit my teeth.

“Don’t worry, Jesse won’t let him down.” He kisses the top of my head. “So by the time Dad remarried, they had diagnosed Mom with schizophrenia. She stayed at the hospital as a patient for the first two years, and when they decided as long as she kept up on her medication, she was let out to have her own apartment. I was finally able to stay with her for small bits of time without supervision. A weekend out of the month, every other holiday, and two split weeks out of the summer. In the beginning, I never saw anything wrong with her, she was fun. But as I got older I started to notice the signs, She would be speaking to people I couldn’t see, would get lost far away looks like she was somewhere else, and then there were a few times she would get me up at like two or three in the morning to go to the store for all kinds of things. One time it was for a box of cake mix, for a cake we just had to make, right then, in the early hours of the morning.” He picks the picture up and runs his thumb over the image of his mom. “This was the last time I saw her. I was twelve and visiting her for the weekend. She seemed so happy when I left, telling me she loved me and she couldn’t wait to see me again.” I feel something hit softly atop my head and look up to see a wet trail down his face.
