"Why would you tell me this, knowing what it means I will do?" Alex asked him, shaking in her spot with the anticipation of what she could have done all along; what she could do a million times over again, if and when it was necessary.
"Call for me when you figure it out."
Mysterious to the end, as always.
They both stood up, and he directed her to look at a spot in the desert once more, like she had a million times now. She found a surge of adrenaline and confidence in herself.
"I want you to imagine a black hole, a small one, like a portal, in one particular spot, and it needs to appear with accuracy to every grain of sand." As he said the words, her training clicked, he had been training her to do this all along.
Alex calmed herself and focused just the way he taught her; nothing else in her head as a small, moving, black hole opened just a few feet away. "Now what?" she asked curiously, not knowing if she should just hop in or what.
"You will step through, and as you go in, you will picture and think of nothing more or less than the exact place in time you want to be, and then you will be led there."
Alex stepped up to the mouth of the tiny portal she had opened up from nothing before looking back to Oryx, knowing she had one piece of business to wrap up before she left, before she went back and undid everything it was she had done wrong. "Be cautious," Oryx added as a warning as she stood only inches from him. "It can take you many places before it allows you to see what you asked for. Time is fickle, and so are the remedies for it. Know what to change and what not to change, and do not get stuck somewhere."
"Please, tell the others where I went and watch over them," Alex asked of him, and he gave a firm nod of promise. But that was not the last of her business at all. She got on her tip toes, right there with their bodies almost touching, and she placed her lips over his in what she meant to be a gentle kiss of thanks. However, her body had other plans, and so did his.
Her heart swelled as her body tingled and ached for this man...angel, and her nails raked across his back as she surrendered to a deeper kiss, his tongue moving inside her mouth with a pleasurable sigh. It was like being raked over hot coals, making it hard to pull away, but she had to. Eventually, she returned to the mouth of the portal once more.
"What was that for?" Oryx asked her, still out of breath.
"Because you deserved it."
