  But his friend’s grin wasn’t the only thing that disturbed him, for when he looked at the gruesome illustration again, he saw that there was something strikingly familiar about the boy who was being attacked by Krampus: the pudding-bowl haircut. The same haircut that bullyboy Gary O’Neil had copied from his Beatles mad father. David’s mind ran wildly, and he slowly shook his head. No, no . . . It couldn’t be . . . just couldn’t be . . .

  And Billy’s next words caused David’s face to go almost as white as Christmas snow.

  “On Christmas Eve night, David” the grinning boy said, “we poor, bullied pupils got a better Christmas present than even Santa himself could have possibly delivered. That present was when Krampus came to call . . .”
