And I'd have to face the real world. Suddenly being in the hospital didn't seem that bad.

  CHAPTER TWELVE

Merick and I flew back two days later. Now I was sitting on my couch with a cup of coffee in my hands and Liz sitting on the other end. "Patrick Lawrence is a ghost. We can't find him."

"I have a feeling that he was the one that originally summoned Carson. When I got to the warehouse, Carson said that I was looking for his summoner." I shook my head. Merick had asked me to leave him out of any discussion, and I was happy to do so. He currently laid in cat form next to me.

"I wasn't able to find anything in the system, and you told me Carson was taken care of. We'll have to let his case go cold."

Liz hadn't wanted details on what happened with Carson, and since I wasn't part of PIB at the time that I killed him, I didn't have to report it. There were no witnesses to speak of, and I doubted any of the coven would have spoken against me anyways.

I tightened my hands on the mug and took a deep breath. I didn't want to think back to killing Carson. "When can I return to work?"

"When you can pass the psych test, but I would give yourself another week to recover." She met my gaze. "That's more of an order than a suggestion, but honestly, take some time off and take care of yourself."

I nodded. "I will. I don't think I have much of a choice right now. It's hard to bluff your way through a psych evaluation." I gave a small smile to tell her I was joking.

She held her coffee cup up. "Thanks for the coffee, but I have to get going." She stood, and I followed her so I could deactivate the alarm.

I let her out and sighed as I shut the door. I was still exhausted and cold. My magic seemed to want a break too. My phone rang, and I looked down to see Levi's number. I'd been avoiding him since I'd gotten home.

"Hey," I said as soon as I answered. I went back to the couch and sat down.

  "How are you feeling?"

"I'm fine, just tired. How much did Jillian tell you?"

"Just that you were found unconscious. That's all the hospital knew as well. They said you had no wounds."

I sighed. "I got into a fight with a demon. I won, he's gone, the end." I pressed my lips together. "The curse is gone too."

He hesitated for a moment. "Abigail, did you -"

"I'm just tired. I'll talk to you later." I hung up and put the phone on the arm of the couch.

The sound of someone coming in the front door had me nearly yelling in frustration until Simon walked in with food. I gave him a small smile when he set the food down on the table and sat next to me, pulling me close.

"Sorry I'm later than I wanted to be. Travis couldn't find the key to the club."

I snorted and leaned my head on his shoulder. "Is this our life now? Sorry honey, my second in command couldn't find something."

"Yours was better. 'Sorry I disappeared for three days.'" He nudged me a little bit. "I guess it's just part of being supernatural creatures in a relationship."

I pulled the blanket over us. "Well, in that case, I guess we'll figure it out."

  "What about Levi and Mario?"

"Levi should be happy. Two years ago he would have killed for us to be together. And Mario? He can go fuck himself." My phone went off with a text message.

I can't get into your house, who put the spell on it?

I grinned at Levi's message. All I texted back was: A friend.

Then I snuggled into Simon and flipped on the television. I'd worry about PIB when it came time for me to go back. For now, though, I'd listen to instructions to rest and heal.

  Author's Note

  Dear Readers,

Thank you for joining me on this wild ride with Abigail and thank you for your patients with the release, as I know it's late. This summer I lost my father, and though him and I weren't close it harder than I expected. I had to step away from the writing world for a little bit to support my family during this hard time.

As for Abigail, I knew this time was coming for her as well, where she was going to have to make a hard choice between killing or not killing with her magic. A lot of the series was leading up to this moment and I hope you enjoyed it. I really enjoyed writing this book.

As for the off page sex, please don't riot. I have a lot of younger readers for this series and there was never meant to be on page sex in this book.

And as always, thank you for reading. <3
