Ramos got on to his knees before he launched a spear attack at Shaw and sent him charging in to the wall, Shaw hit him in the kidneys causing him to flinch and turn away in pain. James followed through with a kick to the stomach then an upper cut as Ramos crouched over in pain from the kick to the stomach.
‘Please, don’t kill me, please’ Ramos begged.
James punched him square in the face knocking Ramos out cold and said to his unconscious body.
‘I maybe a killer but I am not a murderer, hopefully that will teach you a lesson.’
Shaw picked the keys up for the Ferrari that had fell from Ramos’s hand when he first hit him and left the house. Shaw jogged over to the van and said through the window to Lawrence.
‘Drop the van at the rental place, then I will drive us to the plane, you can stay with me tonight before heading back to London.’
‘OK, thanks, let's go then.’
James called Wing Commander Jones and informed him that he was on his way back to the airport and to start the engines for an immediate departure. James got in to the Ferrari and admired the luxury inside before he sent a text which read.
I cannot wait to see you it has been too long, love you.
The journey back to the airport took twenty minutes, after handing the van back to the rental company. Sharif got into the passenger seat of the Ferrari and commented.
‘Nice car, shame we can’t take it home, are you just going to leave it here.’
‘Yes, why not.’
James drove through the gates of the cargo area after showing the security guard his RAF I.D card, she waved him through and he parked fifty metres from the aircraft. They climbed aboard and Flight Lieutenant Smythe closed the door behind them. Wing Commander Jones immediately began to taxi the aircraft before the others had taken their seats. After clearance from Air traffic control the Rivet Joint was airborne and en-route back to RAF Waddington.
FORTY-NINE
Lyndon John Powell, Mike Williams, Chris Hampshire and Jack Reuben were sat at a table in a Liverpool restaurant discussing plans for Christmas which was only two weeks away. The men were laughing and having a good time, the R&A jewellery shops Lyndon had taken over from his parents were doing better than ever, after investing some of the funds they had received from Javier Ramos and from legitimately selling South Atlantic Oil and Gas to Royal Dutch Shell. They had opened a shop on the Ponte Vecchio in Florence and it was doing better than they had expected amongst its rivals who had stores on the bridge for years. The company was also buoyed by the Christmas period. The four of them felt relieved to be involved with a legitimate business as they could now relax and enjoy their money.
Javier Ramos was forced to resign from Espoil after further information had come to light about his behaviour and wrong doings. His long-suffering wife had finally built up the courage to leave him and fled to the United States to start a new life in Florida away from the man who had made her life a living hell for the last seven years.
Group Captain James Shaw was sat at home planning Christmas dinner, he had already made the decision not long after taking over as station commander that he would not require any stewards or chefs for Christmas dinner and that they were to have the day off with their families, they had thanked him profusely.
‘I am so nervous about my folks meeting your parents’ for the first time’ Delinda Saint Germain said to James.
She never took the job in New York, instead taking one in London after passing the UK law exam, she commuted back to Lincolnshire on Friday afternoons and back to London on Sunday nights where she had an apartment paid for by her Law firm. She was involved in corporate financial law and was making a name for herself in the firm. She was a rising star and had brokered many deals between companies in her short time as the partners had faith in her abilities.
‘Don’t worry it will be fine, my brother will be there as well as Lawrence and his new partner, who I haven't met yet, I have also invited Nadine and the baby’ James said.
‘It is going to be such an awesome day; I am nervous and excited.’
‘I hope everybody likes my cooking.’
‘It will be great, I will lend a hand, my first Christmas in England, I hope it snows.’
‘Not much chance of that babe, maybe in New York but not here.’
‘Well it would be nice.’
‘I love you’ James said.
‘I love you too’ Delinda replied.
They could not be happier as they sat discussing the festive period, they were in love and James was going to ask her to marry him on Christmas day.
