“It is a kind of war.”
“Who is it?”
“The male that enticed Charlie and Harper’s mother from her home.”
“Oh my Goddess does Scarlett know?”
He shook his head. “No just Fin and I and you now.”
“Will you tell Charlie and Harper?” And just like that he fell in love with her all over again. Asking rather than demanding he tell them. He knew if he chose not to speak of what he knew to Harper or Charlie then she would go along with that decision. And if he chose to tell the sisters, she would be right by his side. He hugged her tight to him. “I will have too.”
Sage felt a shiver of something roll down her spine as she whispered. “This is bigger than them though isn’t it?”
“Yes, he has spent years planning. Fin says we are playing catch up and we need to do so fast.”
Sage held him tighter. “How do we fight someone we cannot see?”
“We fight as we always have with intelligence and patience.”
“But dragons are not alone this time. You have shifters and faeries all of us to help.”
He smiled grimly out at the darken sky as he murmured. “And for better or worse we have Andre`!”
EPILOGUE:
A portal opened in a small town in the mountains of the Ouachits. Fin read the sign on the outskirts of the town.
Mason Town. Population 355. Mayor and owner Jacob Mason. Only Humans allowed past the town limits.
“Seems rude.” Johner said as he and Fin stepped over the imaginary town line. Fin looked at him and said. “You sound like Frankie.”
“It is catchy but still rude!”
“True we should educate them on this. It is our civic duty, to not do so would be just as rude.” Ash advised.
“Are you studying law?” Fin asked the male as he strolled beside him and Johner. Ash grinned. “Olinda likes the law.”
Several shadows flew overhead, the dragons had arrived at Mason town. Fin saw a church like building that seemed to be filled with towns’ people. They stopped outside and listened to a male as he thundered on about abominations and the power of the sword. He seemed to be getting worked up over what he deemed the corruption of the world because of shifters. He told the congregation that a good shifter was a dead shifter that met with loads of loud cheers and clapping. “Seems intense.” Ash rumbled.
“I have heard some preachers can be like that.” Johner said. “Frankie told me where she came from this was normal on a Sunday.”
“Seems a stupid way to ruin a Sunday!” Commented Fin.
June stepped up beside the three males. “Hey, are we doing this?”
Fin grinned. “My love we only awaited you.”
“Okay well let’s go.” June walked up the steps of the church and started walking between people who had not seen a bath for days, if not weeks. The stench was overpowering. Her mere presence made people make way for her, or it could have been the three large males with swords at her back. As she walked down the aisle, of what had been a church at one time, she was un-surprised to see the two males she had allowed to live and tagged, standing on the stage.
“Hey, dude do you remember me?” The smaller male who she now knew was Jacob Mason stared at her as his face paled. “Go away you are not allowed here.”
The taller male who had been standing behind the short male, as he loudly spoke of the evils of shifters, stepped forward a little. He still, June noticed, needed a bath. His hair, if possible looked dirtier and she just stopped the look of distaste crossing her features as he growled out. “Leave unless you brought the abominations back?”
“Nope I told you, if you thought they were abominations. I would show you some real ones.” She smiled at the people there and motioned to the windows. “Look about you preacher.”
“I am the mayor and owner of this town.”
June shrugged. “Don’t care! Look up.” She told him. He stayed where he was, he probably thought the stage protected him. Fin thought with a grin. He was so very wrong. The owner of the town watched as people rose from their seats and looked out the windows. Soon the screaming started, and people pushed and ran over each other to leave the building. Where they thought they could go to be safe, amused Ash.
When fire dragons flew nowhere was safe.
“Foolish people.” Murmured Johner.
Reighn and Ace led twelve flying dragons in formation over the town. June grinned at the two males on the stage. “Well, I did tell you to say your goodbyes to your love ones. I hope you did that?” She turned and kissed Fin as a portal opened, she stepped through turning she waved at the males that stood opened mouthed watching her.
Once Fin dismissed the portal, he looked at the hundred or so males that gathered on and around the stage that held the two males that June had tagged days before and said in voice that dripped icicles. “Which one of you thought it was a good idea to try and kill my mate?”
Hours later Fin held June in his arms as he asked her. “Are you happy little wolf?”
“More than I would ever believe I could be, if this is a dream. May I never wake up?”
As his lips lowered to hers he whispered. “This is no dream my wolf. This is our life!”
