“Pussy,” he stated, starting the engine.

The others followed behind us in a second car. After about twenty minutes we arrived at the place. It wasn’t a church, that’s all I can say. I think it would have been a bit of a fucking offence for the pair of us to get married in a church, don’t you?

This place was nice though. A grand country house, and a whole lot nicer than Jed’s one. Just as Megan had chosen. She’d done everything, bless her, and spared no expense. All I’d heard for the past three months — since she’d pee’d on that stick and produced a positive — was cakes and flowers and bridesmaids shoes and color schemes and miniature bottles of whiskey that had to be handed out to all guests ‘as a thank you’. I personally thought a 10-year-old thank you would have been just as nice as a 40-year aged one, but she disagreed. Brat.

I stood around in the courtyard for a while, enjoying the feeling of the air against my balls, kicking the gravel with my nice shiny shoes and wondering what she’d look like. Better than me, probably. The kilts had also been a Megan request — no demand. The McLaren tartan was fucking awful in her opinion, so we’d went with the Campbell one, another one of her ‘compromises’. I’d taken a pasting from Mark for that one, but to be honest I didn’t give a fuck. Maybe I was weak, maybe I was under her thumb. Who gives a fuck? She was doing all this to make me happy. She could have whatever tartan and whiskey and bridesmaids shoes she wanted. I was making us a family in the eyes of the law. Not that I had ever cared much about the eyes of the law, but still… A true, proper little family. Til death us do part.

I turned around as I heard a car crunching on the gravel, a big white Rolls Royce, and I think my heart stopped beating.

Eva got out first and gave me her biggest smile, her arms outstretched as she walked towards me in her pale pink skirt and jacket with a hat that nearly blocked out the sun in the sky. She pulled me in close, the thing almost falling off her head and I could feel her laugh as I squeezed her. This was the happiest I’d ever seen her.

“I’m so proud of you, boy,” she said.

“You’re not supposed to see the bride before the wedding ya fool, it’s bad luck!” Sarah was standing in the open door of the car, completely blocking my view of my soon to be wife.

“This is the fucking wedding. Have I not waited long enough?” I chuckled.

“Move, bitch!” Megan laughed, her arm poking out and pinching her.

Sarah chuckled and turned around, taking her hand to help her out.

If my heart had stopped before, it wasn’t about to start now. She looked like an angel. She always did, to me, but today she would have made the stars in the night's sky jealous. She walked towards me and I couldn’t move. I heard Eva and Sarah walk away, but I couldn’t look. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the woman right in front of me. A high-speed train wreck couldn’t have tore my eyes away.

“You look so fucking beautiful, baby,” I whispered as I looked down at her, inches away from me.

“You scrub up alright, too,” she giggled.

I swallowed the lump in my throat. I knew we should go in. I was supposed to be waiting at the altar for her. Everyone would be waiting. Fuck them all.

I bent down and kissed her. Nothing too aggressive, even in the back of my mind I knew she’d kill me if I spoiled her lipstick. Just a touch. Just enough to taste her on my lips.

“You ready to do this?” I placed my hand on her belly as I said it.

She nodded and squeezed my hand.

  “Forever.”

  “Forever, baby.”

  THE END
