Inflicted -235 damage
Blood spurted out in a long jet, taking Zack off guard. He fell back and felt a claw pierce his armor and sink into his back. Zack screamed, the Janitor’s blood spraying all over him.
As he was lifted off the ground, hanging off the sharp claw, he saw the Janitor trying to stem the flow of blood with one hand, while dealing with Zack with the other.
Giving up on stemming the fountain of blood, the Vengeful Goryō instead hurled Zack across the room. Zack hit the wall, his field of view flashing once, then all went dark.
Chapter Forty-Nine
Payback
When Zack could see again, he noticed his health teetered on the brink of death.
He was on the floor, his face resting in a pool of blood, epic, intense music blaring in his ear. He could hear the whoosh of the Janitor’s claws, a woman screaming his name and the smack of a sword against flesh.
Then his senses returned to him.
He used his new ability, Inner Light to restore his health. Now back at 50%, he drank a Health Potion for a few more hit points, then glanced around.
The first thing he saw was Anita hanging from the Vengeful Goryō’s back. She held onto her sword, the blade buried deep in the empowered Janitor’s flesh between his semitransparent shoulder blades.
She must have saved me.
“Zack,” he heard the cry again.
Missy. He hunted for her and found her across the room, her green magical healing notes floating around her head.
Weakly he waved to her, then started to get to his feet. Melody and Betsy were trying to move in to attack the Janitor but his claws kept them back. Blood continued to spray out between his legs but he seemed to have an endless well of it.
Zack stumbled forward, Missy’s healing slowly restoring his health. It would take her magic a fair while to stem the flow of blood and the trickle of health lost because of it, but her healing over times restored half again as much as he lost per second.
Things would only get bad if her healing stopped or if he took another devastating hit. All the more reason he should stay out of the fight…
Betsy’s and Anita’s health was well below half as was Melody’s. Only Kaustubh remained at full health.
They need me.
Amy grinned as she watched him heading back over to the Vengeful Goryō, her little dragon dutifully firing its Mini Frostbolts at her shoulder. She was enjoying this, even though they could all die.
The Vengeful Goryō still had 15% health remaining.
Zack made his way behind the Janitor, then moved in and drove his sword in between Anita’s flailing legs and into the Vengeful Goryō’s back. The empowered Janitor roared as he lurched forward.
With another whooshing sound that echoed off the stone walls, he did a whirlwind attack with his claws. Zack fell back but Melody and Betsy weren’t as fast and suffered deep gashes across their faces.
Both women cowered away, their health dropping below 20%.
Anita lost her grip on her sword and tumbled away as the whirlwind attack continued. The Janitor spun toward Zack, forcing him to turn around and run like hell.
The Janitor soon had Zack backed into the corner of the room, the man’s long blades spinning like a buzzsaw. How long did the ability last?
Zack braced himself behind his shield, covering himself as best he could, using his Shield Block ability to reduce the incoming damage.
The claws were inches from him and he ducked down. A moment later the sharp metal scraped along his shield over and over again, each rotation almost tearing Zack’s cover away. I’m fucked…
Then the Vengeful Goryō started to bellow in pain, as orange light engulfed Zack. A wave of heat washed over him and yet did no damage. The claws had stopped spinning so Zack risked a quick peek around the edge of his shield.
He gasped. The Janitor had become a living torch, fire burning all up his hideous body.
The Vengeful Goryō screamed as he ran around, the flames so intense, they blackened the ground around him. “Gha, no, what is this?” The Janitor’s cry was one of horror. “Impossible. I can’t… let this…”
His health drained to zero and he dropped to the ground, his corpse hissing and popping as his insides burned.
VENGEFUL GORYŌ HAS BEEN VANQUISHED!!!

Chapter Fifty
The Stranger
Margery stood near the edge of the room staring at the flames. Missy raced over to her and wrapped her arms around the old woman. “You saved us. Thank you.”
The old woman continued to stare at the flames, her face locked in a look of abject horror. Zack painfully made his way over to her, Missy’s healing magic still coursing through his body.
When he reached the old woman he put a hand on her shoulder, Amy, Betsy and Anita moving over to him. “What did you do?” As far as he knew, the old woman couldn't cast spells or do much more than serve as his butler.
She blinked, then her eyes focused on him. “I… I don’t know.”
“You threw something at him,” Amy said.
“I did?” Margery shook her head. “I did, right.” She played with the hem of her skirt. “It just came to me out of nowhere. The ingredients to make a Purifying Potion to burn the undead.”
Zack glanced at Anita to see if the name meant anything to her. The orc woman shook her head.
“Why did you make it?” He asked.
Margery grimaced as the Janitor’s ethereal corpse sizzled. “I made it so I could save you. While you were battling that monstrosity, I was reading a book in my room. Then a voice spoke to me and told me I must go down to the basement and make a Purifying Potion.”
She focused on him again. “I felt compelled to do what it said, and the next thing I knew, I was here and had thrown the potion and killed the monster attacking my queen.”
Zack turned back to the corpse, the flames now beginning to die down. Who had spoken to the old woman? The G Man? Someone in the resistance?
At least his NPC women no longer needed to be afraid of the Janitor and what he might do to them.
Melody caught his eye. “We have to leave. There are people in need of us elsewhere.”
Zack waved to Melody, as Kaustubh came up beside her and draped an arm over her shoulders. “That’s two you owe us, partner” the centaur said.
“Call on us anytime” Zack forced a grin. “Well, actually, give it a few days then you can call on us.”
The centaur blew a kiss at Betsy. “Next time, you and I need to spend some quality time in that palace bath. You can pat my rump and brush down my furry body and trim my hooves.”
Amy nudged Betsy in the side. “She has enough man-meat with Zack around.”
Betsy covered her mouth, her eyes going wide.
Kaustubh roared with laughter, then bowed. “Until next time.”
With that, he and Melody disappeared.
Margery began to sob. “I made a dreadful mess of the place. I’m sorry, Queen Missy. I shouldn’t have done what that voice told me to do. What was I thinking?”
Hoping it wouldn’t come back to bite him, Zack embraced the old woman, patting her gently on the back. “You saved us, there is nothing to be sorry for. Hell, once my wounds are healed and I stop bleeding all over the place, I will come out here and clean the mess myself.”
Anita stomped over to the corpse, then reached into the flames. She yanked, then tore off the Janitor’s smoldering head, his ethereal flesh blackened on the bone. She held it up. “Get me a spike so I can impale this thing and set it next to our bed in honor of our triumph over the patriarchy.”
“Shit no,” Zack said.
“My room is filled with love, of joy, of life.” Missy’s sing song voice carried her disgust. “That thing does not belong there.”
Anita sighed. “Fine. Then it goes out the front door of the palace a
s a warning to anyone else who thinks they can mess with us.”
Zack let go of the old woman and turned to his NPC women. Time to tell them the truth of what they were.
He opened his mouth to speak, but a strange sound made them all turn in the direction of the stairs leading up to the attic. Light spilled down them, flooding the throneroom.
“What the?” Zack raised his weapon. He heard footsteps coming toward them.
Anita and Betsy came up on either side of him, their health still sitting below half. Missy strummed her guitar, renewing her heals and buffing their damage.
Amy danced around. “I hope it’s more stuff to kill!”
Margery backed up against the wall behind them. “It’s him. He’s here.”
“Who is?” Zack didn’t turn to look at her.
Before the old woman could answer, a cloaked figure came into view. Without slowing, it strode out into the throneroom and raised a hand.
Zack’s field of view was filled with the scrolling numbers 11/5 and they soon blinded him.
Then a deep voice spoke. “Greetings, Zack, John Smith. You have passed the test.” The stranger held a hand out to him. “Now listen, for I have much to tell you.”
THE END
Hey, guys, this is Amy, your friendly hot goth chick who seriously loves killing stuff. Just letting you know that a new woman awaits you in Book 3 of Raid Slayer.
Trust me, you’re going to love her!
The new girl’s got the hots for smart men who can read and write and if you made it this far, I can assume you fit the bill. And if you’re a woman, then don’t feel left out, she has plenty of love for the fairer sex too. Just ask Betsy!
Oh, and Anita told me that if any of you dared objectify her during this adventure, your head is going to sit right next to the Janitor’s outside the front of the palace.
But don’t worry. I’m working on her. Soon, she will lap you up and embrace your toxic masculinity!
See you soon!

Author Notes
Thanks for reading Raid Slayer 2! I hope you enjoyed it. I sure as hell enjoyed writing it.
Thanks to my awesome beta reader Travis for once again reading one of my LITRPG books and giving me useful feedback!
Wow, writing this book was one hell of a ride. I wrote this book faster than I have ever written before (30 days for the first draft). I had a strict deadline, which was moving house!
I needed the book done so I could focus on the back breaking task of packing, moving heavy boxes and all the furniture and wrangling my wife and 2 year old!
My Strength stat is woefully lacking
Even after moving into the new home, the hell continued! Yard work.
In Australia, yard work might not be the same as where you come from. My yard work involved cleaning up a lot of leaves and branches… while watching for deadly snakes.
In the span of an hour or so, I encountered three dugites, a deadly snake found in my part of Australia. I see them around from time to time, but not normally right next to me!
Anyway, as of writing this, the worst of the yard work (and watching for snakes and poisonous spiders) and unpacking is done! So I can finish up this book, and get to work on Raid Slayer 3.
The new woman in book 3 is going to be something new for the series. I am still developing her and am really looking forward to shoving her into Zack’s world.
Raid Slayer 2 really built on the story of book 1 and expanded it in so many ways. I am busting a gut to get back into the world and seeing where the adventure takes me!
I don’t plan books beforehand. I write by the seat of my pants, so most of what happens is as much a surprise to me as it is to you, the reader. I normally have a few ideas of cool things I want to happen and around 40% through draft 1, I come up with an idea for the ending and try to steer the characters in that direction. Normally, it works, but not always!
The ending to this story didn’t come to me until around 80% of the book. I knew the characters had to deal with the Janitor, I just had no idea how. Hell, I didn’t even know Zack would meet his mother until it was about to happen.
This sort of writing can lead you to all sorts of crazy places, but I guess I am experienced enough now for it not to lead me to dead ends.
In other news.
I really want to get 10 books out in 2019. That is my goal. It’s ambitious, but ambition gets you places! I will try to keep a tally in all my books for the year.
I suppose I need to finish my book series too! I have three of them.
Oh, and I read over the author notes for Raid Slayer 1. I don’t know what I was smoking when I claimed I would finish both the Raid Slayer and Visaria series before the end of 2018.
BWHAHAAHHAHAHA.
Then again, back then, I didn’t know I was moving house either.
Still…
Wasn’t going to happen. I consider myself fairly fast at writing, but not that fast!
Feel free to email me about my books or if you want to discuss writing or something else (like what video game you are playing)! [email protected]
Thanks for reading my stories

BARD
Bard’s are the backup healers of the game or the support class. While the support focused talent build does have some offensive abilities, its primary focus is on buffing the damage, health or regeneration of the rest of the party. Their healing capabilities are largely group based, though they do have some single target instant heals. They are primarily designed to aid Priest healers in groups. A Priest heals better on one target while a Bard on a group.
