The banter between them was something new for him. In all the relationships he’d had, never once had a girl turned sassy. Yelled and screamed, yes, but sarcasm and sass, this was a first. His anger cracked, and he chuckled at the scenario in front of him. He’d wave his white flag and surrender with honesty.
“For you? I’d wait.”
It was the truth.
“I didn’t mean it the way you took it, Kellie.” Jasper sighed. This wasn’t his strong suit. He wasn’t good with his words, at least not with women. It had never been an issue in the past. But now, with Kellie, it mattered. He shoved his hands in his pockets and met her stare. “I said it more for me. It probably don’t make any sense to you.” He snorted. “But I didn’t say it because I think you’re,” he paused. “A certain type of girl.”
Jasper lowered his gaze to the ground. Why would she understand when he didn’t fully understand it himself? Everything with Abby had long passed, but she left him with a souvenir. A scarred heart.
“Willing to wait, huh?” She whispered.
He peeked up from the rim of his hat.
She stepped forward, pressing her hands against his chest. “Lucky for you, I don’t want you to wait, Jas.” Looking up through her lashes, her eyes sparkling, Jasper didn’t think he could wait either. He kissed her, unable to stop himself. His hands roamed her body, pulling her closer and deepening the kiss. Her hands extended to his neck. Her touch was aggressive but soft. Her nails bit into his skin, and his cock was screaming for release.
Not another woman alive could start him up the way Kellie did. Sure, he’d had other lovers. Abby and then several women after her, but he’d grown tired of sex without commitment. At the time, he couldn’t see himself with any of the women he briefly dated. They fulfilled his virile need, but nothing touched him inside, where it mattered, until now.
Her tongue sank deep into his mouth, swirling against his. She tasted sweet and sugary, and he wanted more. His hands brushed down her ass to her thighs and jerked her body up to wrap her legs around his waist. The move set her core aligning directly with his cock. The grinding of her hips was hitting him in the perfect spot. He swallowed her soft moan and walked over to the blanket they had lunched on. Dropping to his knees without letting go, he set her underneath him. Breaking away from her kiss wasn’t an option.
He moved over her body, simulating what he wanted. She was in tune and rubbed her core against his dick, causing his own groan. Her mouth tore away from his, and she spread her lips over his chin down his neck.
“Jasper, I want you.”
Her words alone in the soft whisper were almost too much to take. He was seconds from ridding them both of their clothes and taking her here atop the mountain. Her hand slithered down his chest, heading for his lower region. God, he wanted her.
He pulled back and sat on the back of his thighs. Her eyes were heated and glazed over with need. For him.
Son of a bitch.
Through heavy breaths, he stared at her.
“Why’d you stop?”
He drove his hand through his hair in frustration, tugging at the ends. “I don’t have anything.” Her brows furrowed. He licked his lips, cursing himself. “Protection.”
Her tense body seemed to deflate into the hard ground. “Oh.”
Her legs still wrapped around his waist, he rubbed her thighs, wishing he’d been more prepared. The thought of not feeling her bare skin under his hands was almost painful.
She moved up onto her elbows, and the corner of her lip curled. “You really are a gentleman, huh? You had no intentions of trying to sleep with me out here, did you?”
“No.” It was the truth.
Her lips spread into a grin, and she gazed down at his pants. “But you want to?”
He smirked. “I think you know the answer to that, darlin’.”
She shimmied her way up to sit, leaning back on her extended arms behind her. They were tangled in an awkward position, but he’d take it. There was no way he was letting her go.
“There’s other things we can do, you know.”
He didn’t say a word. Instead, he rushed forward, his lips crashing against her, taking her by surprise. His hands drove through her hair, the silky strands against his calloused hands. She moaned, and he took advantage of her parted lips, slipping his tongue inside. She pushed him over onto his back without separating from their kiss. Her hands tugged at the snap of his jeans, opening them and sliding the zipper down frantically. He wanted her lips again and sprang up, taking her mouth. She pulled away, and her hands gripped the hem of his jeans, tearing them down his legs.
The idea of her lips on his dick was too much to resist. He should be giving her pleasure first, but he couldn’t stop her. His heart raced as she bent down, her lips covering his cock. His head stretched up to the sky, and he groaned. She shuffled her legs from between his without losing suction over his rod. Her tongue swept the underside, and she drove her mouth over his length again. His heart was pumping so hard he gritted his teeth, trying to keep his breath even. All his weight was on his arms, causing them to shake.
She withdrew her lips slowly and smiled up at him. Her tongue poked out from her full pink lips and tongued the crown of his cock, sending shivers over his entire body. She climbed up to her knees, pushing lightly against his shoulders and whispered, “Lay back, Jasper.”
God, this woman and her voice, he would have done anything at this moment. Hell, he probably would have robbed a bank if she asked him to in her sultry, sexy voice. Jasper kept his stare on her as he awkwardly straightened his legs forward and stretched them out in front of her. Kellie shifted to the side as he lay on his back, tucking one arm behind his head to watch her.
Her hair fell forward, hiding her face as she leaned over him. His free hand slid across her neck, brushing her hair. He needed to see her face. She glanced up with smoldering eyes and then descended, spreading her lips wide and taking his cock in her mouth.
He groaned, tightening his grip on her neck, then wove his hand through her hair as her wet, warm mouth covered him whole. His body tensed, watching her take his length between her lips, bobbing slowly over his cock. Not a man alive who didn’t love the feel of a woman’s mouth, but this one was different. Watching her give him pleasure and seeing the eagerness to please him had Jasper breathing hard and ready to come in the next second. He groaned as her teeth slid over his cock. He’d always been a no biting kind of man, but the way she gently grazed over his cock made him grit his teeth hard, feeling it in his molars.
His hand drove to the back of her neck and urged her forward. He needed to come. Her tongue swirled under his length, flickering against the sensitive skin below his crown before covering her mouth over him once again. Fuck.
The soft rumbling of her moan sent a vibrating shrill over him, and he pumped his hips forward, forcing her to take his entire length. He could feel his dick sliding against the back of her throat, and he exploded without warning. It was like his first time, with no time for him to pull her off him or tell her to pull back. His back shot straight, and his fist curled into her hair. She suctioned tightly, and he was done.
He came hard in her mouth, conflicted with guilt that he gave her no warning and complete pleasure as he came between her lips. She never pulled back. If anything, she took him deeper. Her mouth slowed against his cock, sending shivers over the course of his body, and he relaxed into the hard ground, hearing his breath heavy and uneven. Her mouth slid away from his cock, and he loosened his grip on her hair. His eyes were closed, trying to regain control. He could feel her slither up his body, and without opening his eyes, his hand guided her against him.
Finally, he opened his eyes to see her smile and jutted up for her lips. She kissed him back but turned her head, trailing kisses against his cheek leading down to his neck.
“You being shy now?”
She jerked her head, staring at him in confusion. “No.”
“Then why aren’t you
kissing me?”
Her eyebrows pressed together. “Men don’t like to taste themselves.”
“Only man you gotta be concerned about is me, Kellie.” He angled her jaw and pulled her closer. “And I want a kiss.”
The corner of her mouth curled, and she slowly extended forward. Her lips softly pressed against his, but she was holding back. His tongue glided across her lips and poked into her mouth, swiping across her tongue. She shifted up, lying across him. His hands wrapped around her waist and then slid down to her ass, gripping her and squeezing her closer.
She pulled back, and he let her as she rested her head on his chest.
His fingers intertwined with her hair. It was so damn soft. His fingers trailed over her scalp, and her body curled deeper into his chest. It was an easy feeling, knowing someone’s sweet spot, and Kellie’s was definitely a head rub. He wove a strand of hair through his fingers, loving the feel of something so soft under his harsh hands.
“Keep doing that, and I might fall asleep,” she whispered and clutched her hand over his hip, giving him a squeeze before getting up onto her elbow.
Her hair fell into her eyes and with a quick shake, gave him a view of her green eyes. She frowned. “I gotta go.”
“Work?”
She nodded in obvious disappointment. He hadn’t given much thought to their differing schedules, but this was going to be a problem. She averted her eyes, taking a last glance at the ridge. She bit her lip, and her stare seemed deep in thought.
“What are ya thinking?”
She looked down at him, smiling, but shrugged. “Nothing.”
He raised his eyebrows in question. She was definitely thinking about something and seemed almost conflicted.
“I was just wondering if maybe…”
Jasper smirked. “Yeah?”
She drew in a nervous breath. “Do you want to go out on Friday, like dinner or something? I only get one Friday a month off, but I thought we could do something.” She shrugged again. “If you want, I mean.”
Jasper shot up, surprising her, and hooked his arm around her waist, dropping her onto her back, his body splayed over her. “I want.” He kissed her lips. It was meant to be just a kiss, but her hands reached around to his back, and just the feel of her made him take the kiss deeper and longer. He had kissed plenty of women, but with Kellie, it was all passion and need. On both sides.
His hand trailed down her neck, cupping her breast. She moaned against his lips, and he could feel himself getting hard again. He was worse than a sixteen-year-old with his first girl. She had that effect on him. His thumb glided along the top of her cleavage from her low-cut shirt. God, he wanted her. To see her completely naked, taste every inch of her body, and to be snuggled deep inside her pussy. It was almost painful to pull back, but he did. He kissed her, not giving in to her when she spread her lips. Knowing she had to leave, and this couldn’t go any further was only torturing them both.
He shifted his hand away from her breast and cupped her jaw, caressing her chin.
“I hate when you stop.” She sighed and then smiled.
Jasper chuckled, taking one more kiss. “Not nearly as much as I do.” He reared back and got to his knees, pulling up his pants. He wasn’t quick enough to keep his growing erection from her sight. Once he was dressed, he reached out, taking her hand and pulling her to her feet. Her hands immediately went to his waist.
“I can’t wait till Friday.”
Jasper smirked. It’d been a long time since he looked forward to a date. Two days away was too long. “Me neither, so how about I pick you up after your shift tonight? You can come here, spend the night with me.”
Her eyes widened, and he could tell she was trying to hold back her excitement. She was failing. “Yes.”
Chapter Nine
Her shift at the bar had dragged on. Wednesdays typically weren’t this slow. She really needed time to speed up. Jasper had dropped her off at about six-thirty, and after making out in his truck like a couple of horny teenagers, she reluctantly got out. She barely had time to pack a bag and shower before sprinting off down the street to the bar. Kellie was rarely late. By the time she made it to the bar, she was out of breath with beads of sweat forming on her brow.
“I’m sorry, I’ll work through my first break, Garr.” He scowled and walked away. Hours later, he pulled the tray from her hand and told her to take her break. She didn’t get very far in her arguing she’d work through it to make up for being late when Garr turned on her.
“Just take the goddamn break, why the hell does everything have to be an argument with every woman who works here?” He slammed the tray on the bar and stormed off down the hall. She bit back her smile when Patty rolled her eyes.
“Go take your break, sweetie. Boss’s orders.”
Luckily, the bar had picked up, but it seemed like it took forever for the clock to hit one a.m. Kellie grabbed her things from the back and headed out to the bar area. There were only a few regulars, and Cara was closing for the night.
“What’s in the bag?” Cara came up from behind and tugged on the strap over her shoulder.
Kellie was in mid-count of her tips but stopped and smiled, glancing over her shoulder. Cara had her arms crossed, her hip cocked to the side, and a huge grin on her face.
“Change of clothes, maybe?” Cara wiggled her eyebrows.
Kellie laughed and swiveled in her seat, facing her friend. “I’m spending the night at Jasper’s.”
Her eyes widened, and her mouth spread into a wide grin. “I knew it! I told you, right? You didn’t believe me, but I told you.” She shook her head and snorted. “All the times he was staring at you, watching you, I called it, girl.”
“Yes, you did. You were right. I was wrong. There I said it, you happy?”
Cara burst out laughing. “Hell yeah, I’m happy.” She rushed over, taking a seat next to Kellie. One would think it was Cara about to be picked up by Jasper from her enthusiasm. “Are you two dating now? Is this like a real thing?”
Kellie wasn’t sure how to answer her friend. It was definitely real to her, and after Jasper’s speech of not sharing it made sense, they were dating. Right?
Her phone pinged, and she glanced down to see the text.
Jasper: 5 minutes away
She grinned and looked up, shoving her phone into her bag.
“Prince Charming on his way?” Cara smirked.
“Yeah.”
“You look happy, Kell.”
Kellie sighed. “Don’t make this bigger than it is.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“We’re just seeing each other. I know that look. You’re mentally preparing what you’d wear to the wedding.”
Cara burst out laughing. “I am not.” She shook her head. “Just happy for you. It’s nice to see one of my people get something good.”
Kellie didn’t have to ask what the statement meant. If Cloves County had tracks, Cara and Kellie would be from the wrong side. She finished counting out her tips and shoved the cash into her bag before saying bye and heading out the door.
The truck pulled up as she walked out. She hurried to the truck but stopped when Jasper got out, leaving his door open, and rounded the cab of the truck.
“Hey.”
“Hi!” She clamped her lips closed.
Jasper smiled, opening the door for her. She’d never tire of this. She hopped in the truck, adjusting her bag on her lap as he shut the door. She drew in a deep breath and held it. Calm the hell down.
She was still holding her breath when he got in the truck.
“How was your shift?”
“Not bad, it dragged though.”
“Not too busy?”
She shrugged. “Typical night, I guess. I was just looking forward to seeing you again, so it went at a snail’s pace.” Her face heated. She should have kept that little piece of information to herself.
Jasper jerked his head. “I been looking forward to seeing you, to
o.”
Her heart beat faster, and the butterflies were running rapidly in her belly. No man had ever had such an effect on her like Jasper.
He pulled into his drive and parked up by his house. They got out and headed inside. Kellie stood off in the corner as Jasper walked through the kitchen, and the room set into a light glow.
“You hungry or thirsty? I got leftovers, beer, water and some sodas out back.”
When she didn’t answer, he glanced over his shoulder. The corner of his mouth curled up into a lopsided grin. “Why ya standing so far away?”
She shrugged.
He eyed her suspiciously. “So, you don’t want anything?”
“Well, what else are you offering?” She wiggled her eyebrows.
He grinned and chuckled as his chin dropped down to his chest. He gazed up at her through his lashes. “What do you want?”
She was building up the courage. Everything with Jasper had a way of feeling exciting yet unpredictable. She stepped closer. “If I say you, do I get you?”
“Come closer and find out.”
She took another step. “How close?”
His hand shot out far enough to grip her waist and pull her against his chest. His breath fanned her face. “This close.”
Her hands trailed up his chest to his neck, pulling him down to her lips. “I want you, Jasper.”
He didn’t say another word. His mouth crashed down on her, and his lips were moving over hers. She wrapped her arms around his neck and hoisted her legs around his hips. The move seemed to catch him off guard, but he quickly gripped her ass, rubbing against the seam of her jeans with his crotch.
His tongue dug deep between her lips, and she moaned. They were moving and he was carrying her as if she weighed nothing. She never broke away from the kiss, completely lost until he released her, and she fell back on the soft surface. His bed.
He stood at the side of the bed, staring down at her with heated need. One small shift in her gaze and she could see the fully erect desire from the seam of his pants. Kellie angled up on her elbows.
“Gonna take them off?” She shot a look to his pants and smirked.
