Renting His Heart Page 11

by Jaclyn Hardy

It was a tight squeeze into the fairy garden, but since it was only close family, nobody argued. The words were pretty much the same as what she’d listened to a year ago, but this time she just concentrated on the man in front of her.

Lacey had to clear her throat when it was Chloe’s turn to say her vows, and then they were married. Austin had offered to buy her whatever diamond ring she wanted, but the mood ring he slipped on her finger was the only one for her.

Austin leaned down to kiss her and as he pulled away, hundreds of butterflies erupted around them. Austin had thought it was strange that it was a wedding thing, but she’d insisted. His mom got the wedding she wanted, Chloe would get her butterflies.

“Are you happy here?” Austin whispered in her ear.

Chloe caressed his cheek and nodded. “They can have Paris. I’ll take this little piece of heaven any day.”

Chloe readjusted the blindfold on her eyes to make sure she couldn’t see anything. She hadn’t waited a whole six months to see this house only to have it ruined now. Austin opened the door and helped her out of the car.

  “Ready?”

“No. Yes. Maybe.” As soon as the blindfold was taken off, that meant this was real. She was going to be a farmgirl on top of a designer and a writer. That was a lot of titles to carry around.

Austin chuckled. “Ready or not, here you go.”

Chloe paused for a moment and then opened her eyes. The pictures she’d seen so long ago didn’t do her new home justice. The flowers were brighter, the sky was bluer, the trees were bigger. It was exactly what she never thought she’d ever want, but it was perfect.

“Go on.” Austin leaned against the car. “It’s just us. You can squeal all you want.”

“Good because I was going to anyway.” Chloe pulled off her shoes and ran through the grass, ignoring the stone steps. She touched the flowers just to make sure they were real.

Austin came up behind her and scooped her up in his arms. Chloe held tight as he climbed the steps. He opened to the door and stepped over the threshold. “Welcome home.”
