Spore Series | Book 5 | Torch Page 33

by Soward, Kenny

After a quiet purging or two, the camp was down to a thousand young, hardened devotees.

“You don’t seem overly concerned.” Susan studied his face. “Shouldn’t we try to stop them?”

“What? And keep them from gathering supplies for us?”

The woman stared at him with her ice-blue eyes before a sly smile wormed its way across her lips.

  “Any orders?” Cash asked.

“Keep a close eye on them,” Carver said. “Especially on Moe.”

“We haven’t seen him for a week.” Cash shifted from one leg to the other. “His sister drives his truck on their supply runs.”

He placed his hand over his heart and paced. “Could it be that our favorite friend is sick? Could he be dying? Send in a spy.”

“They aren’t accepting newcomers. I guess you could say they’re violently opposed to it.”

  “Try again.”

“Praise be to the Lord of Light and Venom. And his son who stands before me.” Cash bowed his big, shaggy head and went to do his master’s bidding.
