A diary?
Rax’s claims had smacked me around and like a fool I’d swallowed them enough in my final moments in the game. In the intervening time I’d decided he was liar but to learn that Scarlet found a diary that she kept hidden? That the cabin we’d been in was Bron’s and she hadn’t said a word?
Had she not known?
“So you decided to wait for me here?” I asked, trying to get my bearings.
Ori gave me a thumbs up and then passed out, slipping under the muddy water. I hauled him out and put him on the grass so he wouldn’t drown.
Okay, so I was in the game again. Forced into the game again by criminal Russians because the Ai went into critical error and demanded me.
Me, who’d awoken in my apartment apparently coding in my sleep with a pounding head.
I looked up at the sky, which was mostly blue.
“Tell me what the hells you’re doing Lucy or I’m going to do nothing until they pull me back out again,” I said to it.
A quest chimed up.
Bitten... Off Far More Than They Can Chew.
Scarlet and Delicia are brave but there is no way they can do this on their own. You can save them both or let them die the true death. Either way, the clock is ticking.

I stared at the ACCEPT and DECLINE buttons for a good minute. Getting held hostage by the Lubochenkos was bad enough and now this? The hells with it. I’d go to Bron, see if there were any bars still standing and drink myself into oblivion.
But...
But I could see her face, asleep in the bed beside me. I could hear her whispering in my ear. I had felt her gentle touch on my back, a tiny moment of connection. I could feel Delicia between us, cold as ice, almost dead. I could hear her whispering my name as I sank down into death.
Maybe Scarlet had set me up. Maybe there was more going on than I knew. The system had seized up and demanded my return, much to Cheeto and the other Russians’ chagrin.
That there was more going on than first appeared was a given.
ACCEPT/DECLINE
I reached to give my answer.
