Take Me Back (Vegas Bad Boys #2) Page 23

I could tell there was so much on his mind and not just the sex. “What are you thinking?” I asked, leaning forward to kiss his neck.

He turned and kissed my hair. “I was just thinking about how sexy you look riding me. How good it feels to be inside of you.”

I moved my hips and worked it to my advantage, bringing myself to the edge of ecstasy. I moaned against his mouth as I came, and he kissed me hard, filling me up inside as if our minds and bodies were one and the same.

“I didn’t think I was going to be able to hold off until you came again,” he said with a chuckle. “It always feels good to edge, though.”

I collapsed on top of him and was about to roll over beside him when he sat up and held me in his arms.

“Where are you going?” he asked. “Do you think I’m done with you?” His cock was still hard, and since I had moved off of it, it was erect between us. Clay held my hand and kissed it. “I don’t think I’ll ever get enough of you.”

I giggled and stroked his cock. “I almost forgot how much stamina you have.” His cock wept a pearly tear for me, and I rubbed my thumb to spread it across his head before I raised up and centered it under me.

I inched my way down nice and slowly, and when I hit the depths, he flipped me over again and held my hands up over my head.

I loved it when he did that, and I felt so exposed to him as he looked at me again as if he could devour me. His head dipped down, and I could feel his mouth on my nipple, latching on to suckle hard. The sensation gave me a feeling between my legs like I had never felt before, and I couldn’t help but greedily buck my hips for more as I gripped the back of his head and held him there until it passed.

And suddenly, it was as if we were both on fire for one another, our hands and mouths moving, caressing, stroking, kissing, and teasing.

Clay rolled us over, and I was on top again, but then he went to move again, and we were on the floor. It took us by surprise, but we never missed a beat, not even when the carpet burned my elbow and not even when we couldn’t stop laughing.

“Are you okay?” he asked in a breathy tone.

“Yeah, I’ll be fine as long as you don’t stop.”

I sat up, and he moved to do the same, sitting with his back to the side of the bed. “Come here, Beth.” He pulled me closer, and I sat in his lap, stroking his cock before inching my way down again. I bounced my ass on him, changing the speed to take him all the way up to the tip and back again. I clenched, milking his cock for all I could until I found another release.

Clay pinched my nipples, and it made me come harder. “You always liked that,” he said when I cursed.

“I do like it. It’s just so intense.”

“Mhm. I miss being intense with you.”

He let me have my fun, and then he got to his feet, carefully picking me up with him. He placed me on the edge of the bed and stood up, looking down at me. “Now it’s my turn to get intense.”

“Mmm,” I said, thinking I could go for some hard and fast. I loved it when Clay took his time, but I loved it when he finished with a bang.

He pumped his hips, working his cock in and out of me like a jackhammer until he let out a guttural growl and said my name. “Oh, Beth.” He held my stare as he filled me up, his cock pouring into me. He closed his eyes tightly and opened them again as a tear escaped my eye.

He kissed it away and kissed my lips. “I love you.”

“I love you too.” I ran my hands through his hair as he lay over me.

He rolled to his side and faced me. “Don’t cry,” he said.

“It’s happy tears. I’m glad you’re coming back.” I rolled over to face him. “I know this is nice, and I could stay here forever with you, but—”

“We should get home to Jack.”

“Yeah. Is that horrible? I mean, I know he’s okay and probably still asleep.”

“But you just want to see him, right?”

  I smiled. “Yeah.”

“I get it. I feel the same way.” He got to his feet. “You stay there. Let me get you something to clean up, and we’ll go.” He went to the bathroom and came back with a warm wet cloth.

I took it. “Thank you. I’m glad you get it, but I also don’t regret taking this time.”

He went about picking up my clothes for me. “Of course, I get it. I hated to think I wasn’t able to be there. I came home and knew I couldn’t just sit here, or I’d go crazy. And I’m glad you don’t regret it. I don’t ever regret being with you, Beth. I’ve missed you so much. Even the last time we were together, it was still like you were so far away.”

I got up and took my clothes from him. “I’m sorry. I’m back now, and I’ll never keep you from him, Clay. I’m sorry for being selfish with him, for going after the full custody. I should have waited, and I should have fought them when they suggested it. And I should have called you to remind you about court. I just wanted you to step up on your own.”

“Hey, if you were fucking up, I might do the same thing. I knew it was because you loved him. I never thought it was selfish.” He stepped into his jeans and pulled them up, looking just as sexy as if he were taking them off.

I put on my clothes and helped him gather his things. “Do you think Della will be surprised I’m back?” he asked as we put his stuff on the luggage rack.

“No, I think she’d be more surprised if I didn’t bring you back with me. She knows what’s up. She’s had to hear me pour my heart out so much, and she’s going to be happy for me and for us.”

  “Good.”

“But I know someone else who will be glad. They just don’t know it. And that’s Jack. He’s missed you too.” I didn’t like the idea of our son having to grow up with just one parent. And I damned sure didn’t like the idea of him having another mother or father. With us making the decision to get back together, I hoped we never had to think of that again. It had been too close to a possibility for me.

When we finally got everything loaded in the car, Clay followed me home.

When we got there, Della met us at the door with a smile on her face. I got out and walked over to check on Jack as Clay got the first of his luggage. “How is he?”

“He’s sleeping. I gave him his medicine, and he didn’t like the taste of it too much, but he managed to get it down. I think he was still too exhausted to put up a fight.” She glanced over my shoulder at Clay, who was trying to carry everything in one haul. “Does this mean you’re back together?”

“For good,” I said. “None of that ‘try and see how it works’ nonsense. We’re going to make it work.” I smiled at Clay and looked back at her.

“I’m happy for you. But I’m also going to get the hell out of here and let you two take over. Call me later and let me know how things are with Jack, okay?”

“Sure thing.” I hugged her. She had done so much for my family and me that I didn’t know if it was possible to ever even the scales. “And if you need anything, we’re here for you too.”

She went with me to help Clay with the last of his things, and when we carried them inside, she got her handbag and hugged me again before slipping out quietly.

I turned to go to Jack’s room, but Clay was already on his way there. I put my arm around him when we met at his door, and we both stood in the doorway, hoping not to disturb him.

  “He’s a miracle, isn’t he?” I said.

“Our little miracle, yes. And even if this surgery doesn’t take for some reason, he’s still a miracle. But I have a feeling that everything is going to be okay.”

“Me too. Isn’t it funny how that works out? If you had asked me before, I might not have been so sure. But with us being back together, I know that we’re all destined for a good future.”

Clay kissed my hand and held it close to his heart. “Let’s go take a shower,” he whispered. “I’ll wash your hair, and we’ll cook some dinner and watch TV.”

“That sounds good,” I said as we walked away from Jack’s door. “But I j
ust want to do one thing first.”

“What’s that?” he asked. “Make out?”

“No, but I do like the sound of that. I thought we should unpack your bags and maybe take a few of your things back down from the attic?”

“Babe, I’m not taking those suitcases out of this house again unless you’re going with me or it’s for work, which brings me to my next question. If Jack’s healed up good enough by the time I go on tour, do you and Jack want to go with me?”

“I’ll have to plan it around my students, but yes, I’d love for us to go as a family.”

He grinned. “I like the sound of that.”

“Come on,” I said, taking his hand. “I think you’re right. Those suitcases aren’t going anywhere with you again.” I pulled him toward the bathroom, and we laughed and kissed all the way there, sometimes all at once.

As Clay set the water, I got our towels and turned on Jack’s monitor. Then we undressed, and he took my hand. “Come on, Beth. The water’s fine.”

We stood there and kissed for the longest time, neither of us wanting to let the other go. Finally, Clay grabbed the soap and lathered us both, still kissing me in between rinses. It was as if we were washing those old people away, the ones who used to fight and blame the other. When we stepped out into the steamy bathroom, he held me close, wrapping my robe around my shoulders to keep me warm.

Things were just how they were supposed to be, only better now that he was home with me.

  With us.

  Chapter 39

  Clay

It was hard to believe I’d been home a whole month when I had my first show. Thankfully, the doctor said Jack was good to travel, and he and Beth went with me all the way to Las Vegas, where Hawk Entertainment owned another venue.

It was strange seeing my name on the big screen out front, flashing like a beacon, especially when my headshot flashed right after it.

“You’ve hit the big time,” said Beth, who gave me a sexy grin. “I’m so proud of you.”

I had just gotten my nerves in check when Lloyd came in and gave me my ten-minute warning.

“Where did the time go?” I said, pacing the room.

“Clay Whitmore, are you nervous?” asked Beth, giving me an incredulous smile. “You have nothing to be nervous about.”

“This is their biggest venue, and I feel like I’m being thrown to the sharks, but I’ll be okay. You know how much I love a crowd. It’s just a little intimidating.” Not to mention, I wanted to do my best since Hawk and Lloyd would be there to see how well I did.

Beth rolled her eyes. “Well, I don’t know how you do it, but I know you’re going to do great.”

Jack was paying attention to our conversation, following us back and forth with his eyes and not his head. “I think you’ve already got an audience, Daddy.”

“The best audience of all.” I was so proud of my boy for being a little champ and healing quickly. He was so strong, just like his mama.

  “Dadadada,” said Jack.

“Did you hear that?” she asked. Her eyes lit with amazement as my heart melted.

  “Yeah, he said Dada.”

“Dadadada,” he said again with a big grin. He reached for me, and I took him from Beth and held him close.

“Daddy loves you, buddy. You’re my biggest fan.”

Beth cleared her throat. “I guess I’ll be your second biggest, if only for Jack. But no one else.” She pointed at me, giving me a hard look.

And just like that, Lloyd came to tell me it was time to make my way out. The manager of the Las Vegas complex was about to announce me.

“I’ve got to go,” I said. “You should probably make your way to your table.” My family had a reserved table, and they would have the best seats in the house, where they would be safely away from any speakers that would be too loud for Jack. I had requested them.

I waited for the manager to introduce me, and I walked out, ready to play and sing my heart out.

And that was just what I did.

I had the crowd won after my intro, and I charmed them through my entire set, making sure to get them in on the act, which was just what Hawk’s Entertainment did best.

I had them singing along with me and clapping. Beth and Jack enjoyed it too, and by the end of it, I had won the crowd and pleased my boss.

Ezra Hawk came to the back after my encore and greeted me with a big grin, which was something I hadn’t seen too often from the man. “You blew them away,” he said, shaking my hand and giving me a pat on the back. “Your talent should be registered as a lethal weapon.” He turned and gave Beth a nod. “And this must be your muse.”

“Yes, this is Beth, my wife. And Jack, our son.”

“It’s nice to meet you,” said Beth, shaking his hand.

Jack’s eyes went big as Hawk tried to talk to him in a funny—but still deep—baby voice. “How’s that little man doing since his surgery?”

“He’s good,” said Beth. “The doctors said his hearing is going to repair to nearly perfect. And we’re going to see what happens with the other ear if there are any changes.”

“Well, let’s hope it all works out for the best,” he said. “He seems like a strong little man. I’m sure he’s going to be fine.” He patted my son on the head, and Jack smiled for him.

It made me proud to have Hawk compliment my family. “Thank you, sir.”

“Ah, and before I forget, I should get you the check for the night’s performance.” He patted his pockets as if he didn’t know which one he’d put it in.

I hadn’t expected any pay to come so soon. “My check? I’m sorry, I didn’t think I’d get it right now. Lloyd said when I got back home.”

Hawk rocked on his heels. “Well, that’s why I’m the boss,” he said with a laugh. “No, I thought you and your family might like it now. And there’s a little added bonus from me because you managed to impress me. It’s not many who open here right out of the gates and win the room. You’re going to be great.” He pulled the check from his jacket pocket. “Here you go.”

“Thank you,” I said, taking the check. I didn’t insult him by looking at the amount and knew it was more professional to wait until later. It was a small sign of trust I believed a man like Ezra Hawk could appreciate.

“I know these openings can be stressful, so you and the family try to enjoy what Hawk’s Entertainment has to offer. Here’s a lifetime all-access gold pass. Good for all of our locations and just another perk of being part of the Hawk Entertainment family.”

Beth’s eyes lit up. “You mean the entire complex? Even the spa?” She had wanted to go to the spa but wasn’t sure of the cost. Now she wouldn’t have to worry.

“Especially the spa,” he said with a wink. “I like my entertainers looking fresh. So make sure you bring Clay for a facial.” On that note, after giving me another pat on the back, he walked away.

“I love your new job,” said Beth, who passed our son to me and took the check. “This is a lot of money.”

“Well, I’m sure it won’t always be that way,” I said. “But this is a great start.” We had been doing great over the past month since I’d been back home, and while the first few days were worrisome with Jack’s healing, he got better every day and seemed to be improving by leaps and bounds.

“Come on, Beth. Let’s go get something for dinner and take it back to the room. I think we should put Jack down early.” I gave her a sly look and knew she’d get the hint.

“He is looking tired,” she said, stroking his little round head. “I’m in the mood for something sweet.”

“And I’m in the mood to get you drunk. How about we put that card to use and get a bottle of wine and please both of us?”

“I like that idea, but you know you don’t have to get me drunk.” Beth and I made our way across the complex, where there was everything from gambling, to races, to a full family-friendly arcade, and a pool.

And as we strolled past the big fountains, Beth leaned in.
I really like your new job. It’s going to be an amazing life for Jack.”

“I can’t wait until he’s a little older, and then he can really enjoy it. I hear our Williston location is going to be just as big as this one.”

“I can’t wait. And I can’t wait to use the spa. I have to go at least once while we’re here.”

“You have two days, and then it’s back home.”

We got on the glass elevator on our way to our room and got the best view of the crowd beneath us. The neon and fountains were spectacular, and I loved the fact that it was like a small paradise.

“I’m going to miss it. Tell Nick to build that place quicker.” I loved how impatient she was now that she could see how nice our complex would be back home.

“He says they are right on track, and Ezra timed my tour so I can work until the grand opening.” So far, things were moving fast enough for me.

We got to the room and changed into something more comfortable and suited for sitting around the room. Jack was too little to drag around too late at night, and after we put him to bed, we were just about to call up some wine when there was a knock on the door.

“Who could that be?” asked Beth, closing her robe. “Are you expecting anything?”

“No.” I walked to the door and heard a voice on the other side. “Room service.”

I opened the door. “I haven’t ordered anything.”

“I know, Mr. Whitmore, but this is complimentary from the hotel and Mr. Hawk.” He stepped aside, and the cart was loaded with stuff. There was a beautiful bouquet of red roses and chilled wine, along with a basket full of food and chocolates.

“Oh my god,” said Beth, reaching for the bow on the basket.

  “What is it?”

“Spicy crackers!” She ripped into the basket and pulled them out. “Can you believe it?”

“I thought Williston Grand had the market on those,” I said. “At least we know this place has good taste.”

“Pour some wine, and let’s go sit on the balcony and share these crackers.”

“Throw in some of those chocolate turtles, and you’ve got a deal.” I pulled the cork and poured us each a large glass, but then Jack stirred.
