“I never did get my question answered. Did I?”

“Men have many questions that are never answered in mortality. Which one plagues your mind today?”

“Why did Jack make me? Why Pierre Belmont? Why all of this…”

Alucard had brought a chair and a paper today, eyes engrossed with the so called ‘Maguindanao Massacre.’ It was a rare occurrence to hear about mass levels of violence that had nothing to do with him or his kind, a rare yet important lesson that man was just as capable of destruction as monsters and mercenaries were. The fact that thirty-four journalists happened to be among the victims made it all the more interesting, a case that he knew Jack or Lufaine would force someone to investigate.

  “Ever watch Neon Genesis Evangelion?”

“Isn’t that an anime or something?”

“It is, though it’s not exactly for children. I wouldn’t say it’s brilliant, but it is rather unique. The concept of angels sent to destroy man rather than save it; unless you interpret death as their salvation. In fact, we could waste an entire afternoon discussing the doctrines of the program.

“What I’m more concerned with is NERV’s and, in extension, Gendo’s personal project. If you answer this in the positive, we’re going to be spending the next week together: Do you know what the Instrumentality Project is?”

Did I? Sylvester mentioned it once or twice off handily, musing to herself rather than trying to tell me anything. It even came up in a few of her phone calls, but it never seemed important enough for me to pursue. In fact, most of the time when I did try to talk to her about her work, I got stone walled harder than the Hoover Dam. After the whole Kyle Snot incident, I was kept away from that kind of thing.

  “No. I don’t.”

“Then prepare to have your world rocked, Mr. Sears. Do I have a lesson for you…”

(Anthony: That’s all he wrote. Really Seth? Really?)

(Flow: Well, I got Alucard’s journal nearby. Why not include his meeting with Richard?)

  (A: Well isn’t that a swell idea?)

(F: Shut up and quit stealing my lines.)
