Chapter 5
It was the following morning, and Adam arrived more eagerly to school than usual.
As soon as the bell sounded, and the students were dismissed, Adam quickly made his way to his ICT lesson.
Zhara had arrived in class as her registration room was only one class away whereas Adam’s registration room was in another part of the school building.
Adam entered the class and immediately looked for Zhara.
To his delight, and relief, Zhara was already sitting in her place.
As soon as she saw Adam, she smiled at him, her exquisite eyes sparkling on seeing him.
“Hi,” Adam greeted Zhara.
“Hi,” Zhara returned the greeting, looking somewhat shy.
Adam placed his bag next to his seat and he himself quickly sat in his own seat; Zhara was just taking out and placing her stationery equipment on the desk.
“How are you?” asked Adam, staring at Zhara, smiling as he did so.
“Fine,” replied a shy Zhara, tucking her hair behind her ear. “What about you?” asked Zhara.
Adam sat in the seat right next to Zhara.
Adam breathed in deeply and heavily, closing his eyes for several seconds before opening them again and facing Zhara.
“If you need any help, just let me know,” smilingly said Adam.
“I will,” said a shy Zhara.
“Er, I was wondering if I could see you at … lunch?” asked Adam.
“Yes,” answered Zhara.
“Meet in the dining hall?” Adam asked.
“Yes,” replied Zhara.
“Right, everyone,” began Mr Bharmal. “Let’s get this lesson started,” he added enthusiastically.
Just then Jade spoke. “I’ve got a headache, sir,” she said, holding her head in her hands.
“Headache?” echoed Mr Bharmal. “I’ve only just arrived!” he exclaimed.
The rest of the students burst out with laughter!
…..
It was lunch time, and Adam quickly collected his lunch and promptly made his way to the table where Zhara was sat.
“Hi,” said Adam as he cheerfully greeted Zhara and then excitedly dropped down on his chair.
“Oh, hi,” said Zhara, her now excited eyes sparkling in Adam’s presence.
“How was your Resistant Materials lesson?” asked Zhara.
“Well, without you, any lesson is rubbish,” answered Adam.
“You know what I mean,” said Zhara.
“Yeah, I know,” said Adam as he inhaled inwards. “It was the usual: materials this and materials that,” Adam said jokingly. “Anyway, how was your Art lesson?”
“I missed you,” Zhara answered shyly, tucking her hair behind her ear. “I really missed you.”
“Tell me about it,” began Adam. “The distance between us reminds me on a daily basis how much I miss you, and I much I love you,” he added, staring fondly at Zhara.
For Zhara, Adam smiled in such a way that made her stomach flutter.
…..
The school day ended and after several minutes from leaving school, both Zhara and Adam arrived at the nearby park.
Zhara stared at the beautiful flowers.
“These flowers are so beautiful,” commented Zhara.
“Ah, but definitely not as beautiful as you,” said Adam. “In fact, they look extremely pale in comparison to you,” he added before staring at Zhara’s face.
“Close your eyes,” Adam said softly.
“Why?” asked Zhara, slight anxiety in her voice.
“Just close your eyes,” Adam repeated.
Zhara slowly closed her eyes and then felt a finger touching her smooth, soft skin.
Zhara quickly opened her eyes again and turned her face away from Adam, unable to meet his own gaze before looking back at him, shyly.
“Sorry,” apologised Adam. “It’s just that I’ve never seen such soft, smooth skin.” There was a brief pause before Adam spoke again having inhaled inwards slowly. “You turn away from me and it feels as if life has turned away from me and that … would kill me,” stated Adam.
“Don’t say such things,” Zhara immediately said to Adam, placing her hand over Adam’s lips. “I’ll never turn away from you, Adam,” said Zhara. “I live by looking at you; you’re my life now,” Zhara pointed out.
“Oh, Zhara!” Adam said emotionally with his eyes staring deeply in to Zhara’s as he breathed inwards deeply, hugging Zhara more tightly than before. “I love you, Zhara!”
“I love you, too, Adam,” added Zhara, before resting her head on Adam’s puffed up chest.
After a little while, Zhara looked up at Adam and spoke. “It feels nice,” she stated very quietly.
“I know,” agreed Adam as he stared at Zhara. “What is living, I learnt from you, Zhara. What is joy, I learnt from you. What is true love, I also learnt from you,” Adam slowly stated as he took a long deep breath inwards as he stared deeply in to Zhara’s exquisite eyes. “Loving you is like breathing … I do it every day without thinking.” There was a further brief pause before Adam spoke. “You’re my whole life,” he added.
“And you’re my whole life, too,” Zhara added. “I can’t imagine a time now without you in it.”
