Siobhán and Gabhain at 241 Harper's Cove Page 9

In the meantime, I think Downton Abbey is coming on, and I never miss an episode.

I got this wild hair and decided to do a neighborhood block party. I really don’t know many of the neighbors very well, so I decided I’d send invitations to all the houses in the two hundred, three hundred, and four hundred blocks. So far, I’ve gotten responses from the McIntoshes and the ministers of the church down the street who also happen to be our neighbors, the Reverends Samuel and Cheryl Danvers. I also got positive RSVPs from the Reynolds, Owens, Hendersons, Mullicans, and Davis Hogan and his wife, Tasha Fields-Hogan. I can’t wait for everyone to get to know each other. I sure hope we have some things in common with some of them. It would be nice to make friends here in the neighborhood.

Oh, and I made sure to invite Russell. I thought that would be nice, since he’s alone now. Well, actually, he’s not alone―he’s got a girlfriend. To some people, he’d be a cheater, but I say good for him! Goodness knows he deserves to be happy with all the shit he lived with for so long, and I’m guessing he’s deliriously happy because this woman is in her early thirties. Being a porn star has been good for him in a lot of ways!

Today was a happy day for another reason. We got another check in the mail and we were able to share the revenue from the sales of the video with Kelso and the actors. Belinda was beside herself with joy, and Michael said he was buying himself a new pair of shoes. Bless his heart, he’s frugal. I told him with that money, he should buy a shoe store! They both thanked us for the opportunity to work with us, and we thanked them. Without them, it wouldn’t be possible.

Russell just stood and stared at it. “So what are you going to do with yours?” I ask him.

  “Pay off my car.”

“Are you enjoying it?” Gabhain asks.

“Oh, yeah! A lot,” he says with a smile. I have to say, he looks pretty damn good in that brand-new Corvette.

  “How’s Gloria?” I ask him.

“About the same. Still ranting and raving about everybody on this street. I think they’re going to move her to a long-term care facility since they can’t seem to get her behavior in check,” he says. Funny, he doesn’t seem sad about it.

Then Michael looks up from his check and grins. “So, Kelso, do you have any new scripts?”

“Three. If you guys want copies of them tonight, I’ll give them to you so you can look them over,” he tells them.

  “Yes!” Michael says.

  “Me too!” Belinda says.

“Absolutely,” Russell tells him, and I grin.

The next one is two guys and me. I want it to be Gabhain and Russell. That’ll be fun. “Come on, you guys,” I tell all of them. “The spaghetti and meatballs are getting cold!”

We sit and eat and laugh as we talk. It’s like a little family we’ve got here, and I love them all. And I think we’re going to be looking for a few more actors just to mix things up.

Nothing wrong with having a little new talent!

This book ends the Harper’s Cove series. I hope my readers have enjoyed all the antics of the neighbors there. It’s been a fun journey for me, and I’m glad I could not only give people a laugh but maybe teach them about a fetish they’ve never heard of or experienced. There are all kinds of things going on out there in the world, and I can tell you without a doubt that there’s at least one of the households of Harper’s Cove in your own neighborhood!

  About the Author

Deanndra Hall lives in far western Kentucky with her three silly little dogs and her long-suffering husband. When she’s not writing, she’s working out, eating and cooking healthy, and looking for chocolate she’s hidden away and forgotten about. More than anything else, she loves creating multi-dimensional characters who take over her brain and argue amongst themselves at traffic lights; thank goodness for Bluetooth headsets or she probably wouldn’t be walking the streets a free woman.
