And steal his precious drug—my princess—my Poppy.

  SHE/HE - A Dark Romance Duet

Continue the darkness with She/He - A Dark Romance Duet as Natalie and Joe try to survive through the pain and find love in the wreckage.

Falling into an even deeper erotic journey, Iris soars with her newfound freedom in the collar as the secrets unfurl and the web of lies expands to a new shape of love.   Ms. Samuels Notes

  BAD GIRL

Every time I run my notes (and they are in every book), I imagine you and me sitting around cups of—whiskey, wine, water—hell, coffee. I don’t over edit this shit because I think it’s an opportunity for you to listen to me—Kailee—outside of my narration voice. If you know me, you know they’re very different.

Before I move forward, I want to go backwards for a second.

The response on Poppy has been tremendous, and I want to thank everyone who has read it or taken the time to comment. Some people haven’t liked it so much, and I’m okay with that. I hope though that it will not deter you from picking up another book. Ask any of my Kailee Train if the books are each their own original pieces of art, and I think they will consistently across the board agree that they are. I strive to keep series similar but each set with their unique feel, all the while under the Kailee umbrella of dirty poetry. Varying shades of dark.

Speaking of dark, I have to mention Son of Angel. I love not labeling my books as M/F, MFM, M/M, what have you. I think it’s almost akin to putting up a list of trigger warnings my books contain. Be prepared—this is coming! I don’t want you to be prepared. I want you surprised and giddy and screaming and bouncing with excitement. That said, for everyone who has messaged me that Son of Saint, Son of Angel, or Bounce held some of their favorite M/M scenes, I want to thank you. Your comments truly touch my heart.

I want my books to be mind candy for you—hot, entertaining, and fun AF. That is always goal #1. Sometimes, that means Sal is looking in the “camera” and talking to you directly. I break rules for the sake of a laugh from you. And I’m going to keep doing that, not every book, not every time. But as an artist, I have to push to grow.

Bad Girl was never intended to be Anna’s story. She kind of hijacked it from someone else. It was supposed to have been an in-depth backstory for Iris, but I’m kind of in the habit of consistently submitting to my characters’ whims. If Anna wanted to take it; I certainly wasn’t going to fight her.

Bad Girl was a tough one.

  Anna pushed me a lot.

Let me tell you why. Most of the #RanieroFanGirls consistently agree on loving two characters. One of them is Sal Raniero. The other is Anna Ford. Maintaining her voice and staying true to her eccentric, bubbly seventy some year old self was difficult in terms of rewinding my brain.

With Sal, everything he has done at least in my regard has occurred chronologically. The books didn’t release as such, but Sal’s story continues to play forward, much like a film. I have an ability with him to rewind, replay, fast forward.

However, I only ever knew Anna at sixty-nine (The Story of Salvatore) forward, so the idea of really going back in time with her was appealing but incredibly daunting. Imagine, if you will, me digging through microfiche and old snapshots to try and reconstruct her world. I always had a basic outline of her story, but those details weren’t there. I needed the visual in my mind, taped together to make her book everything I wanted it to be.

I needed to make it realistic, but with all of the elements you’ve come to expect in a Kailee book. Not an easy task. I wanted the dialogue to be somewhat of a blend between then and now, so it was accessible to you. I didn’t want to make it so drenched in the time that it didn’t sound like my book.

  Therefore, lots of f*bombs.

I also had to deal with the lack of HEA that seems to enjoy taunting me. Though I’ve decided that while we all may have a temporary HEA, no one is getting out of this world with one. Spouses pass, loved ones journey on, and things change. I knew Jake and Chance didn’t get along. And I also knew, Jake wasn’t still around. Anna is a widow in the debut (Juliet), so I had to end on a high, and I hope I brought some smiles to your faces.

I know I will be met with some opposition on the format of this book, the ongoing dialogue and occasional breaks to second person where I have her talking to Sal. If you read Salt Kissed Love, you know where he is and why this book is such an important piece of his bigger picture. These were all intentional shifts that served a dual purpose, one—to give you a break and two—to let you see the intimacy and importance in the relationship between Anna and Sal. They have been a dynamic pair since The Initiation:

“Anna, you have two vibes in here!”

“Lucas Salvatore Raniero, I am not dead. I am old.”

She watched him stroll back to the bed, tossing and catching the bottle of lube cockily into the air. He crawled between her thighs with a deviant little smirk.

“I was going to be around a strapping, handsome young man all-weekend. And he was going to submit to all these Doms’ whims. Did you really think I was going to come back here and watch The Golden Girls re-runs?”

This will forever be one of my favorite passages between them. Sometimes I think we believe sex has an age at which it turns off. I always wanted Anna to be a character that fought against that stigma, and Sal—at nineteen, he was just crazy enough to bite.

I got a lot of flack about Sal being a manwhore in the beginning, but the whole idea about his books was to give this sweeping arch from where he was at nineteen to who he is becoming say in Unspoken. They are vastly different from his maturation, yet maintain his tried and true qualities making him Sal. The idea of compartmentalizing these “chapters” of his life seemed to work for my purposes, so while the books integrate and overlap with the same characters, they are a time capsule of where he was at that age.

Some of you get it; some people think I’m crazy obsessed with Sal. And to a certain extent, right now, I am. I will eventually close the door to Juliet and Sal Raniero, and I will move on. But we—cause you are in this with me—got some things to do first which brings me to 2019.

All of the books this year are focusing towards continuing Iris & Sal’s romance from Juliet, Kinky Sex Magic, and Salt Kissed Love (a Tomb of Ashen Tears Books; TAT Books) and furthering the Juliet storyline with Juliet Book II. TAT Books will include Famous Last Words and two others, which do have titles, but I’m not sharing yet.

  This is what I’m doing.

Please do not ask me to diverge from the plan.

I will take requests within that framework (the backstory of specific characters), but I will be staying at home in Sugargrove and with Sal for most of 2019. This is what I need to do. This is what I want to write. This is what I want to explore. And the stories I want to tell.

IF—and that is a big IF—I complete everything with Sal that I hope to achieve this year, there will be a new world by the end of 2019. New world, as in, they don’t even have a Juliet there.

I’ve had some requests for more Poppy books and all I can say is I have three standalone tie-ins (including Bad G
irl) planned for 2019. The dark ones just kind of come like strangers in the night, and I cannot really predict them. Sometimes I hear something or see something, and I just go off into a writing frenzy. Then you end up with books like A&E, She/He, and Poppy.

I will continue to fight and always bring you the best, but I cannot pull rabbits out of a hat. I may pull another Poppy, but at this time, I am not. But again, you never know. Enough time with Sal and I might.

For those who are looking for Hey Pretty, it is coming. However, after much thought, I have opted to go sequentially as far as what happens when. Things are intensifying in Sal’s life, and I think if I drop Hey Pretty out of order in regard to his relationships (with certain females), I will be doing not only him but you a great disservice. I have not back burnered Hey Pretty, and it is on the schedule for a 2019 release.

Love or hate her, Iris’ story is coming. Tentatively titled The Years Trilogy, but God don’t quote that because I could change my mind. It will be exploring Iris in 2015, 2016, and 2017, where she was and what she did. Expect a lot of BDSM, erotic, dark. Probably very little suspense/intrigue. Don’t be looking for no HEA there either cause you know who it’s with and we ain’t there yet.

IT IS COMING. I PROMISE. YOU GOTTA TRUST ME.

Don’t leave me now, this shit is about to get juicy.

That said, IF I get where I’m going by the end of 2019, you will have that which you covet in terms of Iris & Sal. Do not think that means everything will be peachy keen. It won’t. Hardly.

Next year, 2020, Juliet will be five.

Expect BIG things. Expect GRAND things. But with all on my plate, I’ve rambled enough. Come see me. I’ll be all over the place this year. We’ll talk Sal and have some coffee.

I don’t always go on like this with my notes, but this book got me thinking about things. Things I think my #RanieroFanGirls should know. If you made it to the end of this, bless you.

And if you didn’t like this book, go pick up another one of mine sometime.

Thank you for sharing your precious time with me on this journey.

  Peace. Love. & Sal.
