“Go ahead!” Zhao Wuyang nodded.
Tang Hao was not considered a suspect yet, and therefore the police did not have to restrict his personal freedom.
Tang Hao stepped aside and took the phone out of his pocket.
His eyes widened when he saw the call notification. It was from Shabby Taoist Master again.
‘He contacted me only three days ago. Don’t tell me… something serious happened?’
He immediately answered the call.
Once the call went through, he heard loud noises of guns and explosions on the other end.
Tang Hao was shocked.
“Hey, Fellow Cultivator Tang! Can you come over as soon as you can? We need you!
“F*ck, those bastards are carrying bazookas! Are they planning to blow up the entire mountain?
“F*ck your Wang family ancestors! F*ck all eighteen generations of them!”
Tang Hao could hear Shabby Taoist Master cursing on the other end of the phone.
“Boom!” An eardrum-shattering explosion was heard over the phone. Tang Hao’s ears were ringing when he heard that over the phone.
There was no sound from the other end of the phone for some time. Tang Hao’s heart was in his throat.
“Cough cough! Come quickly, Fellow Cultivator Tang! We can only hold them back for a few more hours!” Finally, he heard Shabby Taoist Master’s voice.
The call was abruptly cut off after that.
“Beep… Beep…” Tang Haos’ expression was grim as he listened to the busy tone of the phone.
The situation at Mao Mountain was dire. He needed to depart there immediately to help them.
Shabby Taoist Master and that scoundrel Trendy Taoist Master were his friends, and he could not bear to look away when they needed him.
Furthermore, Wang Changsheng was an ancient evil from the Ming dynasty. It would be bad news if he were released from his seal.
He turned to look at the police officers nearby and furrowed his brows.
The call had come at a very inopportune time!
If he refused to go with the police, he would be drawing suspicion onto himself. If he did not refuse, there might be nothing left of Mao Mountain when he eventually got there.
He thought for a moment and reached a decision.
Saving lives was more important.
“Ahem! Sorry, Officer Zhao! I need to leave now. Some urgent matters require my attention,” Tang Hao walked over and said.
Zhao Wuyang’s eyebrows were immediately locked tight. His eyes shot a piercing gaze at Tang Hao.
“What’s so urgent?” He asked as the suspicion in his heart grew.
The urgent matter was rather inconvenient to say.
“It’s… something really urgent!” Tang Hao spoke awkwardly.
He could not say that he was going to rescue a bunch of Taoist masters from bazooka-wielding villains!
He would be treated as a lunatic if he did so!
Zhao Wuyang became more suspicious when he saw that Tang Hao could not give him a reason.
“What’s so urgent? Can’t it wait for a bit? The questioning at the police station will take an hour at most. Can’t the matter wait for another hour?” Zhao Wuyang said.
“It can’t!”
Zhao Wuyang’s gaze became sterner as he looked at Tang Hao.
He was quite sure that the disappearance of Gao Wenqiang was related to Tang Hao.
Perhaps he was going to destroy the evidence or run away.
He turned around and gave a silent gesture to a police officer nearby.
The police officer understood, then slammed his own head onto a nearby police car. It was not a heavy slam but it grazed some skin off his forehead.
“Hah! You dare assault the police? Arrest him!” Zhao Wuyang roared.
Then, the police officers pounced on Tang Hao and prepared to pin him down.
“F*ck! You can do that?” Tang Hao cursed under his breath. He knew that things were not looking good.
“Dammit! Those bastards!”
Tang Hao struggled and pushed the police officers who were pinned on him. Then, he sent the police officers sprawling with a few punches and kicks.
Zhao Wuyang was dumbfounded.
Criminal police had undergone strict physical training. They should not be easily defeated by a teenager.
“You’re really assaulting the police now, kid!” He laughed coldly, then stepped forward and prepared to grab Tang Hao.
Tang Hao rolled his eyes and punched at him.
Bam!
The punch landed on his face. Zhao Wuyang was dazed and he stumbled a few steps backward.
He was in shock.
That punch was too fast. He could not manage to react before realizing that he was hit.
Tang Hao kicked him away, then dashed into the basement parking lot to retrieve his Audi A8.
Chapter 231 - It Flew
“Chase him down! Don’t let him get away!”
Zhao Wuyang roared as he struggled to get back on his feet. His face was red with anger.
He was a police captain of the Criminal Division, yet he was defeated by a kid. He now firmly believed that Gao Wenqiang’s disappearance was related to the kid.
The police officers also got off the ground and started giving chase while yelling.
Tang Hao was nowhere to be seen.
“He’s in the basement parking lot!” Zhao Wuyang roared, then led the charge there.
Tang Hao was already seated in the car by then. He switched on the ignition and drove straight toward the exit.
“Stop now! If you don’t stop, I will shoot!” Zhao Wuyang yelled as he pointed his gun at the incoming car
Tang Hao remained composed. He floored the accelerator and rammed straight at Zhao Wuyang.
Zhao Wuyang chickened out. He cursed under his breath, then jumped aside.
The Audi drove out of the parking lot and headed toward the exit of the residential area.
“Go after him!”
Zhao Wuyang roared again. He dove into his police car, turned on the siren, and drove after Tang Hao as fast as he could.
“Dammit! This kid is vicious!” Zhao Wuyang cursed while driving. He was burning with rage.
“Who’s that kid, Captain Zhao? Why is he such a good fighter?” A police officer in the back seat grumbled.
His left cheek was swollen from Tang Hao’s elbow.
“How would I know? His dossier says that he’s just a normal kid. There’s nothing special about him, other than the fact that he started a company at a young age,” Zhao Wuyang said.
“That kid must be harboring some secret. He might be the murderer, too! When we arrest him later, we’ll teach him a lesson he won’t forget!”
While he spoke, the black Audi came into view.
“Hah! Do you plan to outrun my car with just an Audi? Just you wait!” Zhao Wuyang laughed viciously and floored the accelerator.
The cars drew nearer to each other.
The Audi and the police car drove out of the residential area onto the wide trunk road, heading west.
The intense car chase had attracted the attention of the pedestrians and the other cars on the road.
The smile on Zhao Wuyang’s faded bit by bit as the car chase went on.
He began to wonder if there was something unusual about the Audi in front of him. It was only a business sedan, but it drove at a crazy speed, even faster than his police car. He could never catch up to it no matter how hard he tried.
“F*ck me, is that even an Audi?” Zhao Wuyang was becoming incredulous.
Then, he picked up his walkie-talkie and called for support to intercept the car from the front.
He looked in front of him while holding the walkie-talkie, but realized that he could not discern the car’s registration plate number.
The registration plate seemed to be covered in fog. He could not discern any characters on it at all.
Zhao Wuyang was shocked. He thought his eyes were
playing tricks on him.
“Sigh! I must have overworked myself and I can’t see clearly! I need some rest! This is perfectly normal!” Zhao Wuyang tried to reason with himself.
He rubbed his eyes then looked again.
He became even more surprised.
The registration plate was still as blurry as ever.
‘What the hell is going on?’ He was thoroughly confused.
In a lapse of concentration, he nearly rammed into a car at a crossroads.
“Captain Zhao!” The other police officers in the car turned pale.
Zhao Wuyang came to his senses and broke out in cold sweat.
He thought that either there was something wrong with his eyes, or he had seen a ghost.
“Hey, all of you, can you see the registration plate of the car in front?” He asked the other police officers in the car.
The police officers laughed. “Your eyes have gone bad, Captain Zhao! Can’t you see something so close to you?”
Then, they looked toward the car in front of them.
They were immediately dumbstruck. The smiles froze on their faces.
“What… What is going on?”
“F*ck, have my eyes gone bad too?”
They exclaimed in surprise.
Zhao Wuyang breathed a sigh of relief when he heard that. At least he was not the only one with the problem.
“This kid is a crafty one!” Zhao Wuyang said angrily. Then, he used his walkie-talkie to set up multiple blocks on the roads ahead.
Soon, the roads around them were filled with police sirens. The police cars in the area converged toward Tang Hao’s car.
Not far away, several police cars were parked across the road, blocking all traffic.
In front of those cars, a row of police officers stood on alert with their guns prepared.
“Attention please, the car in front! Stop resisting immediately and yield! Otherwise, there will be consequences!” A police officer spoke through a megaphone.
Pedestrians crowded on both sides of the street and watched the ensuing drama in shock and incredulity.
The scene in front of them was like a movie.
Many people were recording the scene with their phones.
Zhao Wuyang grinned viciously. “This kid is too naive. Does he think that he can fight against so many police officers with just him alone? He ought to check himself!”
The police officers in the backseat were laughing too.
The kid’s car was surrounded from all sides. He would not be able to escape.
They were already thinking of how to torment the boy when they eventually arrest him.
As the Audi drove nearer to the blockade ahead, it started slowing down and seemed to stop.
Zhao Wuyang laughed.
Then, the car suddenly sped up again, this time faster than before.
“F*ck! Has he gone mad?” Zhao Wuyang was stunned.
The police officers in front would be shooting at him!
Bang! Bang!
Several gunshots were heard.
The car did not stop or even slow down.
The row of police officers panicked and dove away from the incoming car.
Suddenly, the front of the Audi lifted off the ground. It rose into the air in a graceful arc.
Everyone on and along the road was stunned speechless.
Their heads followed the trajectory of the car higher and higher into the sky.
The black Audi was like a galloping stallion or a condor spreading its wings.
The car reflected the brilliant afternoon sun.
It was incredibly dazzling.
‘Oh my god!’ Everyone thought of the same thing at the same time.
All the drivers and passengers in the cars on the road and all the pedestrians along the road were watching the Audi fly in the sky with their mouths wide open.
Time seemed to have slowed down at that instant. Everything was in slow motion.
The Audi flew over the blockade along a perfect arc and landed on the road with a thud.
Then, it continued its mad dash forward with incredible speed.
Chapter 232 - A Worthy Opponent
The engine roared and the car sped away, leaving behind only a trail of dust.
The street instantly descended into a deathly silence.
All the pedestrians were standing still on the spot, while all the drivers stuck their heads out of their car windows. All of them had the same shocked, incredulous expression on their faces.
All the police officers in their cars, including Zhao Wuyang, also looked shocked.
Then, a series of loud bangs were heard. The dozens of police cars slammed into each other.
The sudden loud noises jolted everyone to their senses.
“F*ck me, what car is that? It even knows how to fly?”
“It looks like an Audi A8! Dammit, I’m driving an A8 too! Why can’t mine fly?”
Everyone was shouting excitedly.
Zhao Wuyang sat dumbfounded in his police car.
He could not believe his eyes.
‘An Audi can fly?
‘Is this a joke?’
If someone had told him about a flying Audi A8 before the scene, he would have given that person a tight slap without another word. However, he had witnessed the ridiculous scene with his own eyes.
“Who the hell is that kid?” Zhao Wuyang mumbled to himself in a daze.
Meanwhile, the Audi A8 sped on the road like a lightning bolt. It had shattered many speed traps along the way and had shocked many traffic police officers.
Tang Hao’s expression was grim as he drove the car.
He needed to reach Mao Mountain as fast as he could.
Soon, he reached the city limits of Provincial City. He got on the highway and sped toward Province J.
Mao Mountain was located within Province J.
At the speed he was driving, he arrived at the periphery of Mao Mountain within three hours.
Mao Mountain was divided into interior and exterior halves. The exterior half was a tourist attraction and was nothing more than a cover. The ‘Taoist Masters’ there were not true cultivators.
The real Mao Mountain was deeper within, where cars could not reach.
Tang Hao got out of the car and started running toward the interior.
Back when they had dinner together, Shabby Taoist Master had briefly described to him the interior half of Mao Mountain. That was how Tang Hao knew the way.
Soon, he reached the entrance to the real Mao Mountain.
The surroundings were hazy and gloomy.
A thick fog covered the path leading into the mountains, as though it was the entrance to a fantasy realm.
Tang Hao stopped in his tracks, then pricked up his ears to listen to his surroundings. He did not hear anything, though more than two hours ago when Shabby Taoist Master called him, the background noises sounded as though they were in a war.
“Don’t tell me… the fight is over?”
Tang Hao became worried. He had an ominous feeling.
He dashed forward again and increased his speed.
Soon, he saw a mountain peak rising amid the thick fog. That was the true Mao Mountain.
Then, he noticed the stone arch located beneath the mountain that marked the entrance.
Many dead bodies laid there. They were in black business suits and dark shades, the same clothing as those who pursued Shabby Taoist Master earlier.
Evidently, these were people from the Xu family, which was a descendant branch of the Wang family.
Many machine guns and bazookas were scattered around the ground, and he could faintly smell gunpowder in the air. He could also see many zombies wearing ancient armor.
However, their brains were already blasted open and their bodies were torn apart.
Tang Hao stepped forward to take a closer look and was shocked. The dead bodies were all dried up and wrinkled, as though someone sucked all the blood from their bodies.
Evidently, they were not killed by Mao Mountain Taoist masters.
While he was standing there, confused, he heard a sound of something piercing the sky.
Tang Hao turned around abruptly and saw a figure descending from above.
He looked a little closer and was shocked.
Simply put, the figure was very unsettling. He was completely naked and did not have a single hair on his body or his head. His skin was pale, and he looked sickly.
His face was incredibly aged, and his eyes were blood red.
Tang Hao turned his gaze toward his lower torso and saw that there was nothing between his crotch.
‘F*ck me, what the hell is this?’ Tang Hao was speechless.
“What a tantalizing smell. Your blood must be delicious!”
The freak opened his mouth, stuck out a bright red tongue, and licked his lips.
The freak’s body flashed, then with incredible speed, appeared in front of Tang Hao’s face and slashed at him with a claw.
Tang Hao was shocked. ‘This guy is very strong! Incredibly strong!’
He tensed his leg muscles and dodged backward. At the same time, he flicked his wrists, and jade talismans appeared in his hands. He threw the talismans in one sweeping motion.
The freak laughed with sinister glee and did not attempt to dodge.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The jade talismans exploded in bursts of fire and lightning, but the freak was unscathed.
“This is nothing!” The freak cackled. “You should be out of jade talismans, right? It’s my turn now!”
Then, his body flashed and prepared to dash again.
Tang Hao rolled his eyes. He flicked his wrists again and a stack of jade talismans appeared in each of his hands.
The freak remembered that jade talismans were incredibly rare in his era. Even the Taoist masters from Mao Mountain did not have many jade talismans on them.
‘How can this kid have so many jade talismans?’
Tang Hao threw the jade talismans at the freak again.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The jade talismans exploded. The freak was still unscathed, but he started to look flustered.
