The serpent god was a notoriously ferocious beast in Dongying. However, it was being slaughtered and cut into pieces like hunted prey.
‘Dammit! They’re more savage than we thought!’
The gunners were trembling on the spot. Even Toru Miki was also feeling afraid as his face was drenched in cold sweat.
The reality was different than what he expected. No, it was totally different than what he expected. He was already thinking of running away, but he could not.
The mission was vital to his status in the clan.
“It’s all up to you, Grandmasters!”
He turned around and spoke to the two people seated at the back.
The person on the left was an old man in his sixties with white hair and a beard. The one on the right was a tall and thin man in ninja clothes. His face was obscured; only a pair of eyes could be seen.
The two people hesitated. Their earlier confidence was gone.
“Well… Young Master Toru, you can see that we are outnumbered,” the old man said hesitantly.
“That’s right! There’s too many of them!” The tall and thin man added. “How about we retreat for now and reorder our forces? It’s better if we plan our next move in safety.”
Toru Miki was stuck in an awkward position. He understood the two grandmasters’ worries. Indeed, their forces were thin, and they could not fight back against the Huaxia cultivators.
As he sunk deep in thought, he looked at the car behind him.
Whether the person in that car made her move was not up to him.
“How about this, Grandmasters, we’ll mount a last-ditch effort. I’ll get the gunners to attack, while the two of you sneak in among the confusion to grab our target. Once we get him, we’ll immediately retreat.”
“Well…” The two people hesitated for a while but eventually nodded.
Toru Miki spoke into the walkie-talkie and gave the command to his people to attack.
Tatatat! The machine guns started firing abruptly.
The Taoist masters had been keeping an eye on them. They immediately scuttled behind the cars for cover once the attack started.
Tang Hao also dodged to the side. Suddenly, he sensed that something was not quite right. He glanced at the car and noticed that the door on the other side was open. A tall and thin man had pulled the unconscious Makoto Miki out and was preparing to escape.
He grunted coldly, opened the door on his side, and a throwing knife shot out from his hand.
The ninja cultivator was shocked and barely dodged it.
Tang Hao reached out and grabbed Makoto Miki’s leg.
“Baka!” The ninja cultivator was furious. He was no match for the Taoist masters, but he did not believe that he could not defeat that kid!
He flicked his wrists and a wave of shurikens shot out.
Tang Hao could not use his jade talismans in the narrow space. He used his dragon tooth dagger to block the shurikens, then he pulled Makoto Miki out of the car from his side with brute force.
The ninja cultivator was shocked. He was beginning to regard Tang Hao with fear.
That kid had intercepted all his attacks in a narrow space. What incredible dexterity! However, the kid seemed too young, which also made him envious.
“There’s someone over there. Let’s f*ck him up!” Taoist Master Qian Ji yelled as he pointed at the tall and thin ninja cultivator.
The tall and thin man went pale when he heard that. He prepared to burrow into the ground.
He was assaulted by several jade talismans. The explosions sent him flying and spewing blood from his mouth.
Now that Tang Hao had completed the State of Qi Channeling, the power of his jade talismans were different than before. They were at least a few times more powerful.
The gunners were out of ammunition and prepared to escape. The Taoist masters rushed ahead, battered them with yellow paper talismans, and knocked them all out.
“Tie up all of them! We’ll hold them for ransom!” Taoist Master Qian Ji said as he clapped his hands.
Meanwhile, a few other Taoist masters managed to capture the other grandmaster. He was ganged up and beaten.
“Haha, what a haul today! We’ve killed and captured so many Dongying bastards,” Taoist Master Qian Ji said happily.
The other Taoist masters laughed along with him too.
“Those of you in the cars, surrender now! Otherwise, don’t blame us for being merciless!” Taoist Master Qian Ji yelled at Toru Miki and the others.
However, nobody moved.
Taoist Master Qian Ji furrowed his brows. He was getting frustrated.
“Let’s go and pull them out!” Taoist Master Qian Ji waved his arm and walked forward with a few other Taoist masters.
One of the doors of the car at the back opened. A figure walked out.
The figure’s movements were graceful. Her kimono was pure and white as freshly fallen snow.
Her face was illuminated by the moonlight. She had an oval-shaped face and perfect cherry lips. Her eyes carried a fox-like cunning that could seduce one’s soul.
Her body was slender and curved at all the right places.
The Taoist masters were dumbfounded when they saw her.
It was not because they were perverted old men, but rather, the woman in front of them seemed to exude an otherworldly charm.
Their concentration started to waver.
“Snap out of it! It’s a cultivator!” Taoist Master Qian Ji bit his lip and came to his senses.
His shout was like a thunderclap that shook the other Taoist masters out of the trance.
“Dammit, where is this witch from? She uses charm sorcery!” Taoist Master Qian Ji roared angrily.
The fox-like woman chuckled. She glanced at the Taoist masters and started speaking, her voice as crisp and melodic as jade beads falling on a tray. “My dear Taoist Masters, why don’t you let go of those people?”
“Pah! Who the hell are you? You’re just a witch!” Taoist Master Qian Ji retorted.
The charming woman was not affected. She continued chuckling.
Her eyes flashed with an eerie light. She took several steps forward.
The Taoist masters trembled. Some of them with lower cultivation bases shook and fell on the ground. Even Taoist Master Qian Ji could feel his concentration waver.
Tang Hao’s body also shook. He could feel himself getting dizzy. Various colors and shapes floated in front of his eyes, as though he was in dreamland.
‘Oh no! This is an illusion!’ Tang Hao thought.
Illusion sorcery was hard to counter even if his cultivation base was high.
The Taoist masters fell one by one. Eventually, Taoist Master Qian Ji collapsed on the ground, leaving only Tang Hao standing.
Chapter 358 - I Remember You
The figure stood there, under the moonlight.
She narrowed her fox-like eyes. They were gleaming with a gentle, eerie light.
Tang Hao pressed his head with his left hand. He was barely able to remain standing. His consciousness was slipping, and many illusions of various colors were appearing in front of him. He bit the tip of his tongue hard to keep him grounded in reality.
Illusion sorcery was very hard to counter. The woman’s cultivation base might not be as high as his, but her illusion sorcery could control and defeat him.
The seductive woman casually walked over. Her eyes were transfixed on Tang Hao.
She was surprised that the boy was the only person who remained standing.
She examined him closely, and her eyes opened wide with incredulity. She had just realized that the boy’s cultivation base was almost the same as hers, which was a lot higher than she had expected.
She looked at his face. ‘He’s still a teenager, right? This is impossible! Since when does Huaxia have such powerful cultivators?’
She parted her lips out of shock.
Her concentration wavered, and the strength of her illusion weakened. Tang Hao immediately snapped
out of it. His eyes narrowed with a hint of viciousness.
He lifted his right hand and drew an upward arc in the air with his dragon tooth dagger.
The fox-like woman was shocked. She tapped her feet and floated backward.
Tang Hao’s movements were faster than hers. The blade of the knife drew past her body.
Rrrrrip!
The knife did not damage her body but had torn her clothes.
The front of her kimono was ripped wide open!
Tang Hao was dumbfounded. Even the fox-like woman was dumbfounded.
Tang Hao’s face turned red at that instant. Even though the woman was an enemy, her bared figure made him blush. However, he soon regained his composure.
The woman was also a powerful cultivator. She should have about the same cultivation base as he did, but she knew how to wield illusion sorcery, which gave her an advantage.
He could not afford to give the woman a chance to catch a breath!
Tang Hao narrowed his eyes and dashed forward with a dagger in each of his hands. His attacks fell on the woman like a rainstorm.
The fox-like woman did not have the time to cover her body. She continued retreating, but she did not look flustered at all. “Not bad at all, little brother!” She chuckled.
Tang Hao rolled his eyes. ‘I’m not your damn little brother!’
His movements became quicker and more ferocious.
“Hey, little brother, are you trying to kill your elder sister?” The fox-like woman continued to laugh. Her voice was coy and bewitching.
Tang Hao pressed his lips together. ‘Who’s this shameless woman? Is she trying to gain my favor?’
She could not shake off Tang Hao’s attacks. Instead, she flicked her wrist. A dagger appeared in her hand, and she started fighting back.
She was not a weak fighter, even though her body looked frail and delicate.
However, her dagger was made of mere steel while Tang Hao’s dagger was carved from the tooth of a sea dragon. They were not of the same tier.
The woman’s knife was soon chipped. Another short while later, her dagger snapped into two loudly.
A hint of panic flashed in the woman’s eyes. When she came to her senses, she felt something cold across her neck. It was the wind from the force of Tang Hao’s attack.
She broke out in cold sweat.
She had not fought that hard for a long time. In the entire Dongying, she could count on one hand the number of opponents that could put up a fight. None of them could have forced her into a corner!
‘Just who is this kid?’
The kid had shaken off her illusion when her concentration wavered for a split second. She tried to cast the spell again but realized that it had no effect on the kid.
She was starting to get a little flustered. The kid looked no older than a teenager, but he was more powerful and agile than her. Was he actually an elderly cultivator who had regressed in age?
‘What a freak!’
She knew that if the fight went on, she would most likely lose her life.
“Hey, hey! My good little brother! Stop! Stop! Your elder sister doesn’t want to play anymore. I’ll give the Miki kid to you!”
She put her hands in front of her and begged.
“Are you even allowed to do that?” Tang Hao was shocked.
“What about it? I’m unrelated to the Miki clan. I’m just repaying them a small favor. Now that I’ve tried my best to help them, my debt is paid. It’s not Elder Sister’s fault that I can’t defeat you.
“You’ve also seen things that you’re not supposed to see!” She pouted and bit her lip.
Tang Hao rolled his eyes but sheathed his dagger anyway.
It was not that he wanted to keep her alive, but he had a hunch that she had more tricks up her sleeve. If he had continued to fight, she would eventually turn the tables on him.
“Elder Sister will remember you, my good Little Brother! Oh, right, you should remember Elder Sister too! My name is Tamamo!”
She winked at him and left discreetly.
She got in the car. The car backed up a little, turned around, and sped away on the main road.
Meanwhile, in the other car that remained, Toru Miki was sitting there, dumbstruck.
What did he just witness? The famous Grandmaster Tamamo had lost to a teenager in a fight!
He wondered if his eyes were playing tricks on him. Otherwise, how could it be so ridiculous?
‘Didn’t the grandmasters say that the cultivation world in Huaxia is in decline? How could there be such a scarily powerful character?’
He came to his senses when he heard that the car behind him was driving away. His face turned ghastly pale.
“Go! Go now!” He urged his driver.
The driver shuddered. He ignited the engine and floored the accelerator.
Tang Hao glanced at the car and smirked. He flicked his wrist and a throwing knife shot out. The throwing knife pierced through the windshield of the car and penetrated the driver’s skull.
The car abruptly stopped. Toru Miki trembled and slumped on his seat.
Tang Hao thought for a while and eventually decided to spare his life.
According to the woman, that person was from the Miki family and would be a very important bargaining chip.
He had thought of eradicating Miki Group in one fell swoop. However, Miki Group’s base of operations was in Dongying and not Huaxia. He needed time to prepare if he wanted to do so.
Therefore, he needed a hostage to ensure Zhao Qingxue’s safety.
He dragged Toru Miki out of the car and interrogated him. Then, he knocked him out with a karate chop.
Then, he went to Grandmaster Yamamoto’s unconscious body.
“This is amazing stuff! He’s such a good guy for delivering this Artifact to me from afar!”
Tang Hao rubbed his hands gleefully. Then, he crouched next to him and took the magatama.
Chapter 359 - Fainted Again
The magatama in his palm was curved like a crescent moon.
It was in a pure green hue and looked almost translucent. It reflected the pale moonlight perfectly and was cool to the touch.
Tang Hao could feel the ripples of qi from the Artifact as he held it in his palm.
Evidently, the Artifact had something to do with spatial manipulation. The grandmaster had caused a ripple in the fabric of reality and summoned a giant serpent god just by rubbing on the magatama.
Tang Hao guessed that the Artifact must be linked to a pocket dimension, similar to his blood jade bead. However, the blood jade bead could only store inanimate objects. The magatama in his palm could store a living thing, as though there was an ecosystem inside.
Of course, the Artifact might just be a dimensional door that was linked to another place.
Between the two possibilities, the former would be better.
Tang Hao tried to access the magatama with his spirit, but he soon encountered an obstacle. He did not hold back and barged ahead, shattering the obstacle into oblivion.
“Ahhh!” Grandmaster Yamamoto jerked awake.
His eyes were opened as wide as cowbells and his face was pale.
Earlier, he had a nightmare that his revered serpent god had died. A bunch of elderly Taoist masters were happily filleting it and cooked a feast out of it. They even shared a bite with him.
Cold sweat poured down as he remembered it.
“Haha! How is that possible! It must be just a dream! Right, only a dream!” Grandmaster Yamamoto patted his chest to calm himself down.
However, he looked in front of him and was stunned. His body wobbled and he nearly fainted again.
The corpse of the serpent god lay in front of him. It was already half skinned, and it would be turned into a feast very soon.
He realized that what happened earlier was not a dream.
Then, he noticed Tang Hao holding his magatama. His eyes bulged and he gritted his teeth.
‘How dare you take my things, yo
u filthy kid?’ Grandmaster Yamamoto was angry.
“You have a death wish, you filthy kid!” He roared as he struggled to his knees, preparing to snatch his magatama back.
“Hm?” Tang Hao looked at him and his body burst out a shocking aura.
Grandmaster Yamamoto was shocked. He stiffened as though he had turned into stone. His expression changed from extreme anger to extreme fear. Then, he shuddered, rolled his eyes, and collapsed.
Grandmaster Yamamoto had fainted once again.
The last time, he fainted out of anger, but this time, he fainted out of fear.
“Tsk! Useless!” Tang Hao chuckled, then willed his spirit into the magatama.
Soon, he could see a vast space extending before him. There were mountains and lakes, and the ground was covered in a thin fog. It was a pocket world.
Tang Hao was ecstatic. A pocket world was much more useful than a dimensional door.
The space was not very big, but it was enough. Tang Hao found the nest of the serpent god. There were bleached bones all over the place.
Tang Hao went around the place once, then exited the magatama and kept the Artifact safe.
He was happy that he had gained such a useful Artifact without much effort. Furthermore, it was snatched from the hands of a Dongying person.
He went around checking the conditions of the Taoist masters. They fainted from the effects of the illusion sorcery but were otherwise fine.
He woke them up one by one.
“What happened?” The Taoist masters were confused as they got up from the ground.
“Oh my, we must’ve encountered a powerful cultivator!” Taoist Master Qian Ji quickly remembered.
“Where’s the witch, Lil Bro Tang?” He asked Tang Hao urgently.
“She ran away!” Tang Hao said.
