The Mightiest Little Peasant c1-799 Page 181

by Watermelonian, 西瓜星人

Fortunately, they were all mundane people, and Tang Hao was not afraid of them.

The people started walking faster. The janitor was the first one to close in on Tang Hao. He lifted his head, showing a creepy face. His right hand pulled out a handgun from his cart.

He aimed the muzzle at Tang Hao.

‘The two hundred million dollars is mine!’ His expression was ecstatic.

The other assassins were flustered. They did not care anymore for stealth and took out their weapons. Some of them wielded firearms, while others wielded melee weapons.

Bang! A gunshot rang out in the corridor.

The passers-by instantly descended into panic. They shrieked in fear and scattered in all directions. The scene was unbelievably chaotic.

The janitor was ecstatic, but soon after, the expression froze on his face. He discovered that the kid was still standing there, unscathed.

  How was that possible?

Even an idiot would not miss a shot from that close distance. Moreover, he was a firearms expert.

The other assassins were also dumbfounded.

They were shocked that the shot missed. When they came to their senses, it was their turn to be ecstatic.

They hastened their steps, walking against the fleeing crowd, toward Tang Hao.

Those people wielding guns pointed their muzzles at Tang Hao and placed their fingers on the trigger.

Tang Hao narrowed his eyes, and they flashed with killing intent.

He spun around and flicked his wrists.

  Swish! Swish! Swish!

A set of dragon tooth throwing knives flew out in an arc.

  Thud! Thud! Thud!

The throwing knives found their way into their targets and made holes in their chests. The people stood there, frozen in shock.

All of the assassins have incredulous expressions on their faces.

  ‘How could this be?’

‘The kid is actually an expert?’

At that moment, they finally understood why the kid’s life was worth two hundred million Merrican dollars.

The hit job was not going to be an easy one. It would be a suicide mission for anyone without actual skill. The only people who would be able to kill the kid would be those that topped the assassin ranking chart.

They regretted their impulsive actions, but it was too late. Their bodies wobbled and fell on the floor, dead.

Everyone else had already fled the scene.

Tang Hao went and retrieved the throwing knives from those people. Suddenly, he remembered that Liu Bingyao was still in the washroom. It would be bad if there were still assassins lurking around.

He started to move toward the washroom.

Suddenly, his wrist trembled, and one of the blood jade beads lit up with a blinding red light.

  ‘Dammit!’

Tang Hao’s expression changed. Strong winds enveloped him as he dashed forward.

He arrived at the washroom in the blink of an eye. He kicked the door away and barged in.

In the washroom, Liu Bingyao was curled up in a corner, surrounded by a light shield. In front of him was a gnarly old woman in her sixties, stabbing at the light shield with a dagger in her hand.

Her expression was vicious and savage. As she stabbed at the light shield, she grumbled, “What is this thing? You’d better come out of this shell now, you filthy b*tch, otherwise I’ll break it and skin you alive.”

Liu Bingyao was huddled in the corner. Her face was pale out of fright.

She was utterly dumbfounded. The old woman who had a kind and friendly demeanor earlier had turned into someone else. She looked like a devil.

The two people were surprised when they heard the door being kicked open.

Liu Bingyao was happy once she saw Tang Hao, while the old woman cackled. “Perfect timing, you filthy kid. Your life is mine!”

Her body flashed, and she pounced at Tang Hao, brandishing a dagger in each of her hands. They criss-crossed into a web of cold light and slashed at Tang Hao.

She was in her sixties, but her movements were unbelievably agile.

  The two daggers gleamed ominously.

  “Careful!” Liu Bingyao screamed.

The old woman became happier as her daggers neared the kid’s skull. Her eyes flashed with greed and anticipation.

Tang Hao stood still over with an impassive expression.

He grunted softly when the old woman was within arm’s reach. He grabbed her head and slammed it at the wall.

  Bam!

The wall cracked, and the old woman’s face was contorted. Her eyes glazed over as she was knocked out cold.

“You think too highly of yourself!” Tang Hao said nonchalantly.

He tossed the old woman on the floor and walked toward Liu Bingyao.

Liu Bingyao immediately stood up and fell into his arms.

  Chapter 405 - Danger Everywhere

The delicate body trembled in his arms.

Tang Hao hugged her gently and patted her shoulders. “Don’t worry, you’re safe now!”

He felt guilty that he involved her in a life-threatening incident.

It was the second time. The first time, when the Wu family came to him for revenge, she was involved in it too.

“I’m sorry, it’s all because of me…” Tang Hao apologized.

Liu Bingyao shook her head and said gently. “I don’t blame you. I’m the one who invited you after all. You don’t have to blame yourself. I’m fine anyway!”

She hugged Tang Hao tighter and rested her head on Tang Hao’s shoulder.

They separated after a long while.

Tang Hao took off the string of blood jade beads from his wrist and handed it to her.

He was not sure of the actual situation yet, nor did he know how many assassins did the Song guy hire to claim his life. There might only be the nine that he had just dispatched, or there might be more. He could not let his guard down.

He crouched down and grabbed the old woman’s collar, lifted her up, and tapped her face, though she did not wake up.

He had used a lot of force earlier. He was afraid that even if she woke up, she might not remember anything.

“Tsk!” He tossed her away again.

“Just you wait, Song guy!” Tang Hao mumbled and stood up.

He turned around and furrowed his brows when he looked at Liu Bingyao.

His priority was to make sure that Liu Bingyao was safe. However, that would not be possible if there were assassins outside. They must have set their eyes on her, so sending her back to the university would not improve her situation either.

It was even more dangerous for her to stay inside the washroom.

Handing her to the police for safekeeping seemed like a good idea. Someone must have called the police after the big commotion, and they must be arriving soon.

He was still not at ease.

Those assassins were quite skilled. They must be professional assassins., especially the old woman, who was probably one of the most skilled mundane people he had encountered. He would have been dead if he were not a cultivator.

Those professional assassins would not be afraid of the police. They were masters of disguise and deception.

‘Unless… I have to bring her around?

‘No point standing here anyway. We’ll just have to go out and assess the situation!’ Tang Hao came to a decision.

“Let’s get out of here. Follow me closely and you’ll be alright!” Tang Hao told Liu Bingyao.

Tang Hao turned around and headed out. He sensed something as he neared the exit. He heard footsteps coming from both sides of the corridor.

‘There’s still more? Dammit, how many assassins did that Song guy hire?’ Tang Hao cursed under his breath.

He abruptly stopped walking and instructed Liu Bingyao to stop. He flicked his wrists, and several dragon tooth throwing knives appeared in his hands.

The footsteps stopped near the entrance to the washroom, as though they were wai
ting for Tang Hao to emerge.

Tang Hao inhaled deeply, then dashed out of the washroom. He swung his arms, and the throwing knives flew out, making holes in the assassins’ bodies.

The four assassins fell on the floor with a thud without even firing a bullet.

Tang Hao retrieved the throwing knives and led Liu Bingyao out of the washroom.

The cinema was already empty. He could hear a commotion and the faint sounds of police sirens coming from outside.

Tang Hao quickened his step and headed to the entrance.

He had only stepped on the street when he sensed something and abruptly stepped back.

At the same time, a bullet pierced through the air and struck the spot where he was standing just earlier.

  ‘Sniper!’

Tang Hao was alerted. He lifted his head and looked all around him.

The cinema was located downtown, and there were tall buildings everywhere. Before he could spot anything, he quickly took another step backward.

Another bullet landed at the spot where he was standing.

Liu Bingyao was shocked and yelped in panic.

  “Let’s get out of here!”

Tang Hao decided that it was pointless to hunt for the snipers. He grabbed Liu Bingyao’s hand and ran outside.

Many people were crowded at the entrance of the cinema earlier, but they had scattered once shots were fired. The scene was unbelievably chaotic.

The couple ran into the crowd and away from the cinema.

Suddenly, a person who was running next to Tang Hao flicked his wrist and a dagger appeared in his hand. He slashed the dagger at Tang Hao’s neck.

Tang Hao was surprised, but his reaction was faster. He reached out and intercepted the hand with the dagger.

His gaze turned ice-cold as he twisted the wrist and pushed it. The dagger turned around and pierced into the assassin’s neck.

The assassin was ecstatic, but his expression froze at that instant and slowly turned fearful.

Tang Hao pushed the body away and continued running.

Many people sprung at Tang Hao as he ran. There were males, females, old people, and even teenagers about his age.

All the assassins blended themselves well amid the chaos. Tang Hao had to remain alert at all times.

Tang Hao became more and more frustrated as he dispatched those assassins.

‘There’s more? Is the Song guy crazy? How many people did he hire?’

The assassins did not seem like they were working together either.

Tang Hao breathed a sigh of relief after he got out of the crowd.

He noticed an African-American man coming toward him from the opposite side of the street. He was wearing headphones, though the music was very loud. He swayed his body to the beat of the music.

He carried a bag in his hand, and he was also holding a map.

Tang Hao did not pay attention to him. After all, all the assassins earlier were from Huaxia.

He did not sense any killing intent from that person either.

He continued walking forward while holding Liu Bingyao’s hand.

As they neared the African-American, he waved at them and grinned widely.

“Ni hao!” He removed his headphones and spoke to them in halting Chinese.

He waved the map in his hands and said, “Can you help me… look at this map… I’m… I’m lost!”

He walked in front of Tang Hao, placed the bag on the floor, and handed him the map.

Tang Hao was surprised but did not find it weird. After all, foreign tourists were common in Provincial City.

He took the map without thinking too much about it.

Suddenly, the African-American started laughing as he ran away. “Hahaha! Two hundred million! The two hundred million is mine! Hallelujah! Thank you, God!”

Tang Hao was surprised. He did not know what the person was talking about.

‘Is he crazy? Two hundred million?’

Then, he suddenly realized the possibility that the African-American was also an assassin.

He quickly looked down at the bag under his feet.

  “Oh no!” He mumbled.

He quickly turned around, hugged Liu Bingyao, and dashed away.

The bag exploded with a loud boom.

The shockwave from the explosion broke the glass windows nearby and sent Tang Hao flying.

  Chapter 406 - Retaliation

The two people went blown away. They rolled on the ground a few times before stopping.

Tang Hao turned around and furrowed his brows.

The scene in front of him was a mess. Shattered glass was everywhere, and there was a big hole on the ground. Several pedestrians were unfortunately caught in the blast. They were injured and bleeding.

  Fortunately, no one was killed.

Tang Hao gritted his teeth. His expression was scarily gloomy. He turned toward the direction where the African-American ran but saw no one there.

“Dammit!” Tang Hao cursed. He was furious.

‘There are foreigners involved too? Just how many people did that Song guy hire?’

“Let’s go!” Tang Hao pulled Liu Bingyao from the ground and walked forward.

He thought that the situation was out of his control. There were so many assassins, including foreigners. The situation was worse than he had imagined.

If this went on, other innocent people would definitely be hurt. He could not remain downtown and needed to go somewhere with fewer people.

Before that, he had to retrieve his car.

With his car, he could move around faster.

However, he was very far away from his apartment. Moreover, it was evening and not late at night. He could not carry Liu Bingyao and fly in the air.

He looked around the street for a cab that could fetch both of them.

Almost at the same time, a cab stopped next to him.

He ran toward the cab. He was about to ask for a ride when the driver lifted his hand holding a gun and aimed it at his head.

  Bang!

  A shot was fired.

The bullet scraped past Tang Hao’s temple.

‘Another assassin? Why are there assassins everywhere? When will this be over?” Tang Hao was both confused and furious.

The driver was shocked when he saw that his shot missed. Tang Hao reached out, grabbed the gun, and hit the driver in the head.

  The driver grunted and fainted.

Tang Hao dragged him out of the car and sat inside. “Come in!” He told Liu Bingyao.

After she fastened her seatbelt, Tang Hao started the car, floored the accelerator, and drove away.

He wanted to give a call to Zhao Wuyang or Zhao Qingxue to let them know his situation but eventually decided not to.

Considering that he was being targeted by so many assassins, his phone might already be bugged. If he called them, he might accidentally involve them in danger.

He wove among the traffic at maximum speed and arrived at his residential area in about ten minutes.

He got out of the car and brought Liu Bingyao to the basement parking lot.

In front of his car, Tang Hao reached out and prepared to open the car door. At that moment, he heard a very slight click.

Tang Hao’s expression changed drastically. He turned around, hugged Liu Bingyao, and dove away.

  Boom! An earth-shattering explosion.

The explosives were placed under Tang Hao’s Audi. The immense shockwave sent the car flying, after which it fell heavily to the ground. Fire engulfed the entire car.

Tang Hao got up from the ground. His expression was extremely unpleasant as he watched his car go up in flames.

  ‘My car! My jade talismans!’

Tang Hao gritted his teeth and clenched his fists.

The car was worth one million yuan. Not only that, it was equipped with many talismans that were his sweat and blood.

That explosion had turned all of that into ashes.

  “Just wait, all of you!”
Tang Hao spoke through gritted teeth. His eyes were burning with fury.

Suddenly, his ears pricked up in alertness. He heard the sound of someone running toward the outside some distance away. He turned his head toward the direction and saw a figure running out of the exit in the other direction.

“You think you can run away?”

Tang Hao grunted and gave chase.

He looked closely. It was the African-American from earlier!

“It’s you again!” He laughed mockingly, then threw a throwing knife which pierced the African-American’s calf.

“Ouch!” The man cried out in pain, then stumbled and fell.

At that moment, the African-American was incredibly frustrated. He had failed twice because of the kid’s abnormal reflexes.

‘Didn’t the information say that he’s only a normal kid?’

A normal kid would not have such fast reflexes, nor would he possess such amazing martial arts skills. The wave of assassins earlier had all failed to score the hit.

  Now, he had failed too.

“Let me ask you. How many of you are there in total?” Tang Hao said coldly as he walked near the man.

The African-American was shocked. “Don’t you know?” He blurted, then continued, “Right, how would you know? Haha! You don’t know that your life is worth two hundred million Merrican dollars!”

The African-American’s Chinese was suddenly fluent.

“Now, half of the entire assassin world is here in Huaxia to claim your life. We’re only the first wave. There are more to come.

“I’m only number twenty-something on the assassin ranking chart. As far as I know, all those with a higher rank than me are all here.

“Those in the top ten are all inhuman freaks. You’re dead meat for sure!

“However, if you spare my life, I can help you escape Huaxia!”

Tang Hao chuckled. He would not believe that.

He asked a few more questions, dispatched him with a dagger, and reduced him to ashes with a jade talisman.
