He looked at his dick sliding in and out her. His cock and her pussy looked beautiful together.
Reaching around, he strummed her clit with delicate, feathery touches. That was her undoing for he felt that all too familiar shiver, and the subsequent flood of feminine juice flowing down his pumping cock. The slapping sounds grew louder as he had his way with her. Their moans and curses tumbled over one another, echoing in the room. The muted noise of the city blended in with the sounds of their lovemaking, making it all the richer… perfect. Gripping her tight, he dragged her away from the window as he kept thrusting inside of her, his dick exploding within her. His groans radiated from his core, and he flooded her wetlands with each needy, urgent thrust. Yanking himself out of her, he forced her onto the floor and finished off on the crack of her ass, his semen shooting onto her smooth globes. He tumbled to the floor, holding his throbbing dick in one hand and staring at the ceiling in wonder.
She crawled closer and placed her head against his shoulder. He kissed her forehead, still barely able to catch his breath. After he closed his eyes, he felt her slip away, going down, down, down until the warm cocoon of her mouth surrounded his nature. He pumped his hips as she took him there, sucking his half-limp dick, tasting her juices and his cum. He held her head, delivering shallow thrusts. His ab muscles tightened when she drifted to his balls and licked and sucked on them, making smacking sounds as if they were her favorite indulgence. His cock came alive and hardened and soon, he had her on her back, her feet around his neck and his dick so deep inside her, she pushed instinctively against his thighs, trying to control his urgent, insatiable thrusts. He held on tight to her, fucking her hard and mercilessly, giving her everything she wanted in a fuck… in a man… in a lover…
“Yasmine… baby… please… ugh! I fuckin’ love you, baby! I’m so damn in love with you!” He panted as he drew closer to his release. He fell upon her, sucking and licking her breasts, while she ran her fingers through his hair. She rotated her hips in wickedly nasty ways, a rhythm that was so gorgeous and divine, he couldn’t help but fall further under her spell. He jerked out of her without warning.
“Put your thighs around my dick.”
She hesitated for only a moment, then did as he asked. He began to grind up and down, gaining momentum by pushing his toes against the floor. Gliding his dick against her pussy, he put pressure on the woman’s wet, swollen lips and clit. He deposited soft kisses on her breasts until the friction brought forth an amazing orgasm she could hang her hat on. She shrieked, dug her nails into his chest, and came so hard, her eyes watered. As she settled, he sheathed himself within her once more, and their eyes locked. He kept a steady pace, then quietly released his seed inside her moments later.
He felt so at peace for the first time in a long time. They just lay there on the floor, touching one another, gifting light caresses on chocolate and light golden skin.
When the sun filtered in hours later, it awakened them from their sleep.
He blinked several times, his now soft dick still resting peacefully inside her.
“Good morning, baby…” she said with a big, pretty smile. He couldn’t help but smile back.
“Good morning, back atcha.” He kissed the tip of her nose and groaned, his head on her chest. He wasn’t ready to break free quite yet. To run off, to chase his autonomy. This was all he needed. This was freedom. The warmth between her thighs, the look of love in her dark brown eyes…
“You don’t let people get this close to you. I know… I feel special, but I know I’m special anyway, even if you didn’t give me this chance to love you, Nix. I don’t know what tomorrow will bring, but I know that I trust myself, and I trust you, too. Whatever happens, we know that we love one another – and at the end of the day, that makes this all worth it. I’m here for the lessons, the journey. Everything happens for a reason.”
He slowly rose and looked her in the eyes, witnessing the stains of past hurt. He could tell that deep down, she believed he was going to hurt her, too. She was determined to be strong enough for whatever came their way. He kissed her softly and for once in his life, he was at a loss for words.
“…You should feel special because you are, Yasmine. I wished for you.” She looked at him in confusion. “I did. Every little note I’ve written and read each morning, in between those lines, I was asking for love. I didn’t realize that until recently. When I was looking at you stand by that fountain, it came to me. It all made sense. Those little pieces of paper are prayers and wishes. My hopes and dreams for what I want to manifest. I saw you standing there, and you are what I wanted. I thought about how beautiful you were tonight… like an angel. I was writing things down to remind myself how to be human, baby. How to feel again. God sent me a teacher. He sent me my Nymph. He sent me you. I told you early on that only a Nymph could make a Satyr settle down. Throughout their history, that is who always stole their heart… made these beasts bow their head… humbled the brute. You humble me because you aren’t afraid to be human in front of me. You aren’t afraid to show your emotions. You’re stronger than me in that way, and I love you for that, Yasmine. You gave into the chase. Letting me be me… dominating you sexually… intimately… while you took over my heart.”
He brushed her hair out of her face and kissed her. “Allowing me to feel comfortable enough to fall in love with you. I know I can depend on you now. There’s no questioning that. You’re on my side, you’re by my side, and when we’re together, I find every chance I can to get inside of you… In your own special way, you have control over me, too… You know this, and that is why you are taking a chance on me. That’s why you have hope you can tame this beast that lives within me, all while I have been using this time we’ve been sharing together to prove to you why you belong to me, and to show you why I will never let you go…”
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
They Smile in Your Face, All the Time,
They Want to Take Your Place…
…A few days later
“That slimy, backstabbing son of a bitch.” Yasmine slammed the phone down in her office and took a deep breath in an attempt to regain her composure. She nearly jumped out of her seat when her cell phone rang. She hadn’t had more than a second to collect her thoughts, to calm down the fire that burst inside of her. Collecting her wits, she reached for the phone and tried to speak in an even tone. “Hey, Goldie…”
“Why do you sound like that?” her friend fired off without even a hello.
So much for staying calm.
“Goldie, I want to rip the head off this bastard! I am so tired of this idiot…”
“Who? What? When and Where?”
“Betrayal! Today! Here at work! As far as who, remember when I told you they hired that new guy, Camden?”
“Yeah, he was from Turner and Fawcett, right?”
“Yes. The first day he was here, he rubbed me the wrong way but I just figured I may have been having a stressful day since I am juggling all these cases now. Also, Mike had to take a leave of absence for the next few weeks, so I have his work, too.”
“Right… right… So, what did Camden do?”
“This motherfucker came to me with a big smile on his fucking face, telling me that Terrell said he could take the Spencer case off my hands, that he was going to head that up and work on it. He then told me to forward all of my work to him by the end of the day so he could look at what I’ve done, revise as necessary, and keep what matters. Then he winked, and walked out of my office!”
“What?!”
“Yes! He stabbed me in the back, Goldie! Yesterday morning, that first meeting of the day, we were all discussing our cases, as we always do. I mapped out my plan and of course shared it with Terrell.”
“I still can’t get over the fact that a White man is named Terrell but go on.” Goldie chuckled.
“So, Terrell thought it was an excellent way to proceed. Well, apparently, this morning, behind closed doors, this piece of shit went and showed Terr
ell his so-called credentials, how he was made for a case like this and he won several ones that were similar to the issues. Since I lost the Bachman case seven months ago, I guess he felt he could bring that up and hold it against me. I don’t know what hand he played, but something definitely tells me he used that card! Do you know how hard I have worked on this, Goldie?! Long days and nights, with little to no sleep…”
Okay, so some of that loss of sleep was because I was being fucked all hours of the night by a motherfucker named Nixon, but that was neither here nor there. “This case is important to the firm and it could generate a lot more business, and he knows it. He’s been an attorney for longer than me. He’s a big pompous show-off and he was probably salivating when I was sitting there reading off the details in our morning meeting. This is like a nightmare, Goldie. He is really taking over the whole damn thing—using my ideas, mind you—and putting his own spin on it. And then he will probably claim every bit of the successful outcome as his own. And—”
“Okay, slow down. Did you talk to Terrell about this yet? Give your side of it?”
“He didn’t even give me a chance! Before I could even dial him up or go to his office, he shot me an email acting like Camden and I would be working together on this case, trying to make it seem like something it’s not. I wrote back and said that it was my case, and if Camden wants to see the notes after the case is over, that’s fine, but I added this was unfair. Instead of Terrell calling me back, his assistant, that maggot, Cassey, called me on the phone after seeing the email, and had the audacity to berate me, lecturing me about integrity, and how I need to be focused on protecting the client, and not my ego.”
“Let me take off my earrings… You want me to come over there and fuck him and her up?” Goldie said, indignation in her tone.
“Goldie, I wish. If I were not in the position I’m in, I would drop down low to my primitive instincts and do just that, but I’ve worked too hard to get here.” She closed her eyes for a moment, fighting angry tears. “I should’ve known something was going to happen. My life was going too well, girl.” She rocked back in her chair. “My relationship with Nixon is thriving, my parents are happy and healthy, the entire family is good, and my brother’s move to Trinidad to start his computer business went off without a hitch. I mean, everything was going smoothly! Now, the other shoe has dropped and I had no idea the first one was loose! I am even getting paranoid, thinking that this dude is planning to push me out completely. I am next up for promotion… Do you see what he did? If he wins this case, he can slide right in.”
“Watch him closely, Yasmine. You need to keep a record of everything he says to you, when and where.”
“It won’t matter. He is benefitting from the good ol’ boy system, I am sure. I feel like I have had to work twice as hard as my White counterparts to get where I am at, Goldie. We’ve discussed this for years.”
“I know… I know…”
“I’m not going to just sit back and take this…”
Glaring up at the ceiling, she kept trying in vain to settle her raw nerves. “I am so pissed I am in here shaking, Goldie! He stole my case right out from under me! I have been working like a dog on this… Damn it!” She slammed her fist on her desk. “I think I no longer have an appetite. I can’t meet you for lunch like we planned… I will just bring everyone down because I can’t even pretend to be okay right now.”
“I want you and me to sit down and meet up for drinks either tomorrow or next weekend, Yas, and talk about this further, face to face. My treat. I know you need to calm down, but after you do, let’s discuss this and strategize, okay?”
“Okay. I just need a day or two. You know me, I bounce back. It’s just that, right now, it is taking all of me to not open this door, march down to his office, and tear that whole damn room apart!”
“The hell with his office. He needs a foot up his ass! I’m wearing my Pradas with the pointy toes… Look, relax, this will be handled. Try to shake this off. Work through the day and we will revisit it. You and Terrell need to sit down and have a discussion. Talk to him privately face to face and if that doesn’t work, then we will go to Plan B. We will go through all the letters of the damn alphabet until this is resolved.”
“And if that doesn’t work, the numbers, too.”
“You already know it!”
Yasmine managed a smile. “Thanks, Goldie. I just was so surprised he’d do this, agree with it, go along with it, you know? It threw me for a loop. I’ve known Terrell for years; we’re even what I’d consider friends, for goodness’ sake. I went to his son’s high school graduation. This is just unbelievable.”
“Give him the benefit of the doubt but after you speak to him, if things are not clearer as to why he co-signed off on this, and he is not willing to put the reigns back in your hands after discussing it with you, then you will fight for this like I know you will. You were built for this. You worked too hard to get where you’re at. Period.”
“Yes, everything you said is on point. Thanks, Goldie. Whew! What a day!” She laughed dismally.
“That’s what friends are for. Talk to you soon. Love ya.”
“Love you, too.” Goldie disconnected the call.
Yasmine tried to push the matter out of her mind and began to compose an email. She looked at the time and figured she’d have her lunch delivered instead. The thought of being around people right then was unbearable. Her phone rang again, startling her, but when she saw the number, her heart skipped a beat.
“Hi, baby.” She cradled the phone close to her face and started typing again. “How are you? I’m surprised you could call me because you said you’d be in court all week.”
“I am,” Nixon responded. “Can ya hear me okay?” he said over the background noise.
“Yeah, I can hear you fine.”
“Okay. Yeah, at the courthouse… but we’re on a lunch break right now. I was, uh, just thinking about ya. Thought I’d give ya a quick call.”
She swallowed the urge to laugh. It was so obvious Nixon wasn’t used to expressing himself this way. How could she not find it funny and adorable?
“I was thinking about you, too.”
“Good. So, how’s your day going? Are you still meeting up with your friend Goldie for lunch?”
She took a deep breath, then exhaled, shaking her head.
“No. Nix, today has not been the best.”
“Why? What’s wrong?”
“The new lawyer I told you about a while ago, you know, Camden Riser, the one they hired? He basically sideswiped me and stole my case. The big Spencer one…” Nixon was quiet on the other end, and she wasn’t certain he’d heard her. “I said, the new lawyer they hired side—”
“No, I got it… I heard ya.” She heard him suck his teeth. “That’s a pretty lame thing to do.”
“Yes, it was, and I am completely pissed off. I just got off the phone with Goldie and she managed to calm me down a bit, but I am in no shape to sit in some restaurant right now with her and Erin, and act like everything is all hunky-dory. I don’t like bringing people down, and my mood is straight trash right now. Period. Gonna order a sandwich and some soup and try to get myself together.” She laughed, though she didn’t find anything about the situation the least bit amusing. “I can’t wait to go home, take a long bath, then slip into bed tonight. I need some time to think this through, to figure out how to fix this mess.”
“Remember the tickets for tonight? We’re supposed to go see ‘Lessons in Love and Violence,’ at the Lyric Opera. Should I nix it? No pun intended.” He chuckled.
“Oh, shit! It totally escaped me, Nixon. Can you believe that? And it was my idea to go! I suck. I am so sorry.”
“Well, look, I can see if we can reschedule it or—”
“No, please don’t do that. I know you planned this in advance on my behalf, and the tickets are probably non-refundable.” She huffed, having forgotten all about their special night just that fast. “Besides, it may even have
the opposite effect and make me feel better.”
“All right, well, they’re going back into court soon. I need to eat, so I have to go if I want to make it back in time.”
“Okay, thanks for calling. Your timing was perfect. I definitely think the Opera is a good idea after all.”
“Good, baby. Just try to relax… Everything will work out. See ya tonight.”
“Yes, see you tonight. Bye, honey.”
She blew him a kiss over the phone, then disconnected. She crossed her legs and arms while her sordid thoughts raced. First step, speak directly to Terrell. No more emails for his assistant to circumvent. Bitch.
She reached for her desk phone and called his direct number.
“Hello, this is Terrell Davis.”
“Hello, Terrell, this is Yasmine.”
“Oh, hi, Yasmine. I wonder why the ID didn’t show your extension? I think something goofy is going on with my phone again.” He chuckled. “What can I do for you?”
“I wanted to know if you had some time today so I could speak to you one-on-one? It’s about the Spencer case.”
“Uhhh, let’s see here.” She heard some shuffling around. “Okay… looks like I can spare about twenty minutes right now. Does that work for you?”
“Yes, that’s fine.”
“Okay, great. Give me a couple minutes. I need to make a quick call to my daughter but you can come on up.”
“Sure, thank you.”
“No problem!”
After he hung up, she got to her feet and stepped to the mirror in her office. She tucked her hair behind one ear, re-applied a fresh coat of mauve lipstick, powdered her face, adjusted her black pearl necklace, then headed out the door. It was time for someone to listen to reason. Hopefully, cooler heads would prevail.
“Now, why in the hell would ya do that?” Nixon spoke with his mouth full of pastrami sandwich loaded with shredded lettuce, thinly sliced tomatoes and spicy mustard. He raced down the street to the courthouse, the food in one hand and his cellphone in the other.
